Pattern and sewing of a backpack bag
To date, the most popular among the many accessories is the backpack bag. An irreplaceable thing not only in the city, but also for various trips. Buying a backpack bag is not a problem, but for those who love needlework it is much more interesting and pleasant to sew it with their own hands, especially since the choice of materials always remains with the needlewoman. Therefore, a hand-sewn accessory is distinguished by its individual design, without losing its functionality.
How to make a female transforming backpack with your own hands?
To make such a transformer, you need to prepare:
- flizofix;
- a piece of neoprene measuring 55 cm x 140 cm;
- a piece of leather;
- a matting flap 160 cm wide and 45 cm long;
- zipper 35 cm long;
- three buckles:
- as well as threads, pins, scissors, a ruler and two ready-made handles with snap hooks 85 cm long.
We draw a pattern from three parts. Two rectangles measuring 33x23 cm and 43x13 cm, a circle with a diameter of 28 cm.
In the dimensions of all parts, seam allowances are taken into account.
Next steps:
- From neoprene, matting and glue we cut out one round piece and glue them with an iron, placing a circle of glue cloth between the neoprene and the mat. Proceed in the same way for the 43x13 cut in leather, neoprene and adhesive. In a rectangular glued blank, we make a side seam and attach a circle to it, stepping back 1 cm from the edge.
- Cut out two pieces of 33x23 cm from neoprene and matting, which we sew together along the long side. We attach a zipper to the resulting two parts, without bending the sections to which we glue, and then sew two strips of leather 2x44 cm in size.
- Now we grind down the side seams of this blank and attach two buckles to different ends of the zipper.To attach the buckles to the bag, we cut two pieces of leather. Each part consists of two rectangles 6x45 cm in size, connected by a 2x2 cm jumper. Insert buckles into them and fix with glue and iron, and then sew along the side seams.
- For the third buckle, you need to cut a 2.5x5 cm loops out of leather and sew it to the blank made of glued parts (bottom of the bag). Now we connect the bottom and top of the accessory by sewing from the wrong side, joining the lower side seam with the upper seam. The bag is ready.
We sew for a child
For a baby, you can design and sew a beautiful backpack that can be transformed with a handle into a bag.
We will need:
- two types of fabric: plain and with an ornament;
- severity and synthetic winterizer for sealing;
- a cord in the color of a plain fabric and four zippers.
The hardware required for manufacturing consists of a magnetic fastener, three buckles, two half rings, two carabiners and one fixing element for the cord. We use threads, scissors and a sewing machine as tools.
Cut open
- We cut out seven rectangular blanks from fabric with an ornament. Two for the back pocket 25x25 cm, for the front pocket 16x25 cm, for the side panels 15x32 cm and one blank 8x130 cm for the fabric shoulder strap.
- From a plain fabric we cut out one blank for the back and front wall of the backpack 25x32 cm. Duplicate parts for two types of loops with dimensions 8x15 cm and 8x10 cm, as well as for a backpack belt 8x80 cm.
- We will sew the upper part of the backpack from two blanks 25x25 cm, in which we cut off the corners of 7 cm on each side.
- For the bottom of the bag we draw an oval 28 cm wide and 16 cm high.
Sewing stages
- For sealing the lid, bottom, two walls, loops and backpack straps we cut out of severity one by one. Additionally, we seal the bottom and back wall with padding polyester. We sew three blanks for the bottom together and put them aside.
- We sew zippers to the blanks for pockets on one side. Sew the pockets to the front and back walls of the backpack, from the front side. Carefully line up the pocket, pinning it to the wall. On the upper half of the zipper we put the braid and attach it to the main workpiece. It turned out two blanks with pockets.
- Sew the side sealed parts to the back wall, overlay the cuts. For belt-loop blanks, we turn the cuts inward, fold them in half and stitch them along. Insert frames into ready-made belt loops and sew to the back wall.
- Now we are preparing the backpack straps. To do this, we turn the slices from the long sides inward, then fold in half and iron both parts. We insert a zipper between them and sew.
- We sew a workpiece consisting of a back wall and two side ones with a front wall and a bottom. We turn out and attach to it a strip of 8x80 cm, intended for a lace with pre-folded edges, and, stepping back from the top edge about 5 cm.
- We sew details at the lid of the backpack, iron, insert the upper half of the fastener, decorate, and then sew to the main blank along with the knapsack belts. On the sides we attach belt loops with inserted half rings.
- We insert the second half of the fastener into the front wall. Now we sew the lining by adding a zip pocket. We place the finished lining inside the backpack, bending the upper cut by 2 cm, and stitching it back about 5 mm from the edge. Then we retreat another 5 mm and make a line along the lace strip.
- We insert the cord with a pin inside the product, and we pull the ends through the fixing device, tie the ends with a knot.
- Now we sew the shoulder strap. We bend the cuts inward, fold them in half, iron them and stretch them along the front side.
- At the ends we install a buckle for adjusting the length and a carabiner.
The bag is ready.
Beach model with rug
For going to the beach, you can sew a comfortable and functional backpack with a bear-shaped rug.
To make this interesting and funny beach accessory you will need:
- Two terry towels 70x140 and 50x90.
- Waterproof fabric 100x150.
- Cuts of fabric of various sizes for pockets, paws and head. For the upper pocket and the lining of the ears - 50x100 cm, the lining for the paws - 50x50 cm and for the lower pocket - 50x90 cm.
- And you also need a knapsack tape - 270 cm, a zipper - 50 cm, a semi-automatic fastener for a tape - 4 pcs, Velcro - 50 cm.
- In addition, you will need thread, scissors, pins and a fabric marker.
Sewing
- We cut out a muzzle from a 47x37 cm cut. Draw on paper, and then cut out the eyes, nose, ears. We apply the resulting parts to the fabric, circle and cut out. We attach the resulting blanks to the head with a curly seam.
- Then we cut out two parts from the lining fabric and one of the same size from the fabric that does not allow moisture to pass through. Sew the parts of the ears with a lining fabric and set them aside.
- We pin the belt tape on the details with pins. We sew pockets and a belt loop with a half ring into one of the lining blanks. We attach a zipper between the lining parts and the front ones. For convenience, we sew on pieces of rep tape. We sew lining blanks around the perimeter, folding them with their front sides. Sew ears to the muzzle.
- Preparing parts for the paws. To do this, we cut out four parts for each paw: two for the lining, one main from a terry cloth and one from a fabric that does not allow moisture to pass through.
- We sew the main terry cloth and one lining, folded with the front sides. Then we fold the stitched parts with the right sides up and make another line. We put the second lining blank with the front side up, and on it the sewn blank with the double side up, departing from the edge 2-3 cm and the blank made of fabric that does not allow moisture to pass through, the front side down. We fasten all the details with pins and draw an oval shape for the paw from the bottom edge. Cut and sew along the perimeter, do not touch the upper cut and turn it inside out. It turned out a paw with a pocket. We do the same with the remaining three paws.
- We take a prepared towel 70x140 and, attaching the muzzle to the smaller side, cut out the neck, removing 2 cm from each side.Then, according to the size of the cut out body, we cut out a workpiece from a fabric that does not allow moisture to pass through. Lay the paws face down on a towel, and on top of a blank made of fabric that does not allow moisture to pass through, grind it around the perimeter, then turn it out.
- We pin the fasteners on the ribbon to the back of the satchel, docking with the buckles of the long belts. Put a 15x47 cm lining on top and grind along the long side. Put the lining on the face down in size 35x47 and sew. Then we sew the contact tape to the undersides of the backing pieces. When storing the lining parts inside the backpack, the stitched contact strips must match with each other.
- Unfold part of the bag with a short lining, put a rug and lining fabric 25x47 cm on top with the right side down. We combine the cuts and grind off the parts. Now we combine the sections of the pocket, which will contain the rug, and grind on the sides. Turn out and sew the lower part of the lining. Sew the bag in a circle.
- We insert the pocket into the bottom of the bag and remove the towel mat into it. We fix the bottom with a contact tape.
The bag is ready.
