Bed linen from Tencel
Tencel bedding sets have been gaining popularity lately. However, most consumers know little about this material and its benefits. Let's dwell on the features of this fabric and bedding made from it.
Features of the fabric
Tencel material was first presented in the late 1980s. last century, in England. Soon, its highest quality and unique consumer characteristics were experimentally confirmed. Its popularity is due to its exceptional naturalness - the raw material here is eucalyptus wood fibers. These plants grow in ecologically safe areas of Australia on specialized farms.
Manufacturing the material includes several stages:
- shavings are formed from eucalyptus wood;
- then it is dissolved in chemical compounds and passed through a machine that squeezes out the fibers - the threads are both dense and thin;
- then they are dried and used for weaving fabric.
Important: there is no waste in the manufacture. Accordingly, the production of matter is completely safe for nature and economically justified.
The matter turns out to be very smooth, thin, with a shimmering surface. The canvas does not stretch, therefore a small percentage of synthetic fibers is introduced during manufacture - it is this improved material that is used for sewing sleeping sets.
Tencel has its merits and demerits. Consider the pros of the material.
- Slim and lightweight. Tencel bedding sets do not create discomfort, they are quite light and airy.
- Resistant to wear and tear. Despite the fact that the canvas is thin, nevertheless sets from it can serve for years.
- Presentable design. The smooth shimmering surface gives the bedding sets a particularly solemn and aesthetic appearance.
- Tactilely pleasant. The material is very delicate, so the owners of sleeping sets from it never regret their choice.
- Breathable. Due to the naturalness of the threads, the air circulates freely and does not create discomfort when using the laundry.
- Hygroscopic. Tencel has the ability to absorb liquid, including sweat. At the same time, it quickly removes it outside - this is how it differs from cotton, which also absorbs water, but dries for a very long time.
- Does not attract dust. Due to the low content of synthetics in the structure, the level of dust accumulation in the fibers is minimal.
- Antimicrobial characteristics. Eucalyptus is a well-known fungicidal agent. Cloths made from it effectively protect any abrasions and scratches on the skin from pathogenic microbes and promote their early healing. Therefore, sleeping on such bedding is not only comfortable, but also useful.
- Hygienic. Eucalyptus bedding sets do not grow fungi and dust mites.
- Hypoallergenic. Natural fabric does not cause an allergic reaction even in the most sensitive people.
- Well paintable. It is easy to give the desired shades to this fabric. The dye lays down on the fabric in an even layer and is fully absorbed into its fibers, therefore the material does not fade after washing and does not fade over time.
- Although Tencel is a rather soft and thin matter, it does not wrinkle even with very active use.
Along with such an impressive list of advantages, the fabric also has its disadvantages, namely:
- high price;
- tendency to shrink and stretch;
- the need for delicate care.

- In a room decorated in accordance with the style of Art Nouveau, all shades that are close to naturalness will be appropriate. Here, sleeping sets are made in sand, beige, mustard and even purple tones.
- For children, bedding is usually made in bright and rich colors, always with animated prints.

User reviews of Tencel bedding are extremely positive. Customers note its aesthetic appearance, durability and an extraordinary sense of comfort. Such bedding is especially pleasant in hot summer, because the fabric gives a feeling of light coolness, allows the body to breathe. Many people say that the fabric removes all moisture, thus leaving the bed dry. At the same time, the material has optimal thermoregulation parameters, so even in winter it is not cold in such underwear.
