The comfort of our sleep depends on the quality of bedding. If the difference between single, one-and-a-half and double bed linen sets is obvious even from the name, then the difference between a "euro" and a double set is not entirely clear the first time. In this article, we will help you understand this issue.

Difference in equipment

Bed linen "euro" differs from a double set primarily in size and configuration. In the European version, which is sold on the Russian market, there are more pillowcases. Historically, in the post-Soviet space, bedding sets with square pillowcases 70x70 cm were produced, while in European countries the pillows are rectangular.

When the fashion for the "euro" came to us, foreign manufacturers added another set of pillowcases. Thus, the headset consists of 6 items:

  • large duvet cover;

  • large sheet;

  • square pillowcases - 2 pieces;

  • rectangular pillowcases - 2 pieces.

Pillowcases may vary not only in size, but also in color. So, the drawing of one pair can repeat the design of the duvet cover, while the other one can go in a monochromatic format to match the tone of the sheet. Variations may be different, the bottom line is that, unlike a double set of accessories, the European set contains more.

There are 4 units in a standard double set of linen:

  • standard double duvet cover;

  • standard double bed sheet;

  • pillowcases - 2 pieces.

When buying, you need to pay attention to the size of the pillowcases; in recent years, manufacturers have begun to produce linen with pillowcases and under rectangular pillows in a double version. By the way, often two sets of pillowcases are in demand at once - in this regard, the Euro version helps out.

And be sure to pay attention to the size of the other kit components. When choosing, proceed from the dimensions of your bed - it is very uncomfortable to sleep when the sheet puffs up with any movement, and pillows or a blanket bunch up. This will definitely not add to your comfort, and will not allow you to sleep well in such a bed.

Size difference

Euro underwear is gaining more and more popularity due to the large size of the sheets and duvet cover. Designed for such a bed on a bed of the appropriate size. If a 2-bedroom set is designed for a bed with a mattress 1.9-2 meters long and 1.6-1.8 meters wide, then the euro option is for a mattress more than 2 meters long and different widths (there are even square options , for example, 2.2x2.2 meters).

In the Euro series, the sets also differ in size. The most popular types of Euro kits:

  • standard "euro" comes with a duvet cover 2.1x1.75 m, a sheet 2.2x2.4 m and elongated pillowcases 0.5x0.7 m and square pillowcases measuring 0.7x0.7 m;

  • double euro version includes a duvet cover 2.2x2 m, a sheet 2.2x2.5 m or 2.4x2.6 m and two sets of pillowcases (0.5x0.7 m and 0.7x0.7 m);

  • maxi-variant "euro" has a duvet cover 2.2x2.4 m, a sheet 2.4x2.2 m (2.4x2.6 or even 2.6x2.8 m are possible) and corresponding pillowcases - two 0.5x0.7 m and two 0, 7x0.7 m.

A double bed linen set of standard type (not "euro") is intended for two persons and includes:

  • two pillowcases 0.7x0.7 m (less often 0.6x0.6 m);

  • sheet and duvet cover of the same size - 1.8x2.1 m.

In this set, the duvet cover is designed for a standard size blanket 1.75x2.05 m. Ideally, such linen is suitable for a bed from 1.6 m wide to 2 meters long.

As you can see, it is more convenient to adapt the euro kit for a large bed (there is a choice of sizes). But taking into account the modern variety and size range, it is better to choose bed linen strictly in accordance with the size of the sleeping furniture and mattress.

What's better?

When choosing a sleeping set, in addition to the size of your bed, you need to take into account the sizes of pillows and blankets, as well as how many people will rest on the chosen bed - only in this case you can understand what is best for your case.

It happens that you need a large duvet cover and immediately, so that there are covers for a larger number of pillowcases, then a set from the "euro" series will certainly suit you, and in what size range, proceed from the analysis of all parameters. A standard "double bed" will help out those who sleep on a traditional bed up to 2 m in length and 1.6 m in width.

To correctly determine the size of bed linen, you need to know the exact dimensions of your bed, and since such products are not bought so often, before updating the covers, measure the length and width of your bed.

And be sure to study the information on the dimensions on the packaging of the kit you like, since some manufacturers can change the parameters of the products in their own way, realizing that most buyers do not remember the set standards.

Sizes, of course, play a big role in the choice of bed linen, and, as experienced housewives say, in order not to miscalculate, it is better to buy a sheet or duvet cover of a larger size, since you can always make smaller out of more than vice versa.

But pay attention to the material from which the covers for bedding are sewn. Preference should be given to a natural basis, cheap synthetics can negatively affect your health and cause allergic reactions.
