Bedding sets are available in several types and have such distinctive characteristics as the number of items in the set and their sizes separately. Sometimes it is not so easy to find a suitable set because of the confusion in the standards of Russian manufacturers and their foreign counterparts. We will try to help you with this and guide you in the dimensional grid of different countries.

Single set standard

On the modern market, it is almost impossible to find underwear marked "single". His popularity plummeted in the early 2000s. However, there is a GOST, adopted in 2005, according to which the parameters of 1-bed bedding are as follows (in cm):

  • pillowcase - 70x70;
  • sheet (there are 2 types of them) - either 120x203, or 120x214.

There is no duvet cover in this set.

Suitable sets for narrow beds are produced abroad. So, in the United States of America, sets are sewn with the mark 1-bed, consisting of:

  • from a sheet - 191x99 cm;
  • duvet cover - 170x220 cm;
  • pillowcases - 51x76 cm.

Classification of European sizes of 1-bed sets (in cm):

  • sheet - 190x90;
  • duvet cover - 145x200;
  • pillowcase (2 types) - either 51x76 or 65x65.

What are the parameters of one-and-a-half bed linen?

Typically, a 1.5-bed bedding set includes one duvet cover, one sheet, and 1-2 pillowcases. Such sets are purchased for single and one and a half beds, most often taken to adolescents.

However, the sizes of one and a half sets vary. Even on the same shelf in the store, you can see two 1.5-bedroom sets, differing in size. That is why, before purchasing linen, it is very important to measure the parameters of your bedding, and then carefully read the information on the packaging with the set you like.

Well, now is the time to introduce you to the standard sizes of one and a half bed linen. And we will start with the norms adopted by manufacturers from Russia. By the way, many Chinese companies also adhere to these standards. For your convenience, the information is presented in the form of a table.

There is also a non-standard set of bed linen - it includes a sheet with an elastic band. Its parameters (in cm):

  • duvet cover - 143x215;
  • sheet - 140x200;
  • pillowcases (2) - 70x70.

Now let's find out what standards are followed by European, American and Turkish manufacturers when sewing one and a half bed linen. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that they often include a stretch sheet (with an elastic band), and it may also be completely absent.

So, the standards of Europe and the USA (in cm):

  • duvet cover - 150x210 or 150x215, pillowcase (1-2 pcs.) - 50x70, no sheet;
  • duvet cover and pillowcases of the same sizes as in the previous case, sheet 200x220 / 220x240;
  • the duvet cover and pillowcases are the same again, the stretched sheet with an elastic band is equal to the dimensions of the mattress (fits exactly under it).

Turkey Standards (in cm):

  • duvet cover - 160x220;
  • sheet - 180x240 / 180x260;
  • pillowcases - either 2 pieces 50x70, or different sizes (50x70 + 70x70).

Standard sizes of other types

So, we examined the parameters of bed linen for small berths, now we turn to more overall types.

Double

Twin sets are designed for couples who like to sleep under one large blanket. Guessing the size of a 2-bed set is not easy, as many manufacturers have their own size chart. Let's consider the most common parameters (in cm):

  • sheet - 175x210, 175x215, 210x230, 220x215, 220x220, 240x260;
  • duvet cover - 180x210, 180x215, 200x220;
  • pillowcases - 50x70, 60x60, 70x70.

Foreign companies label their 2-bed products with the full / 2-bed inscription. As a rule, all of their constituent sets are 5 cm larger than domestic ones.

Custom sizes of double linen, including stretch sheets with elastic (in cm):

  • duvet cover - 175x215, 2 pillowcases 50x70, sheet - 160x200;
  • duvet cover - 175x215, sheet - 180x200, 2 pillowcases 70x70.

Euroset

The set, sewn according to the European standard, is considered the largest. At the present time, it is the euro sets that are conquering the market, since many people prefer to buy wide beds and sofas with an increased berth. In addition, a large sheet is easier to tuck under the mattress.

Dimensional grid of euro sets (in cm):

  • sheet - 200x240, 240x280, 260x280;
  • duvet cover - 200x220, 205x225, 225x245;
  • pillowcases (there can be 2 or 4 pieces in a set) - 50x70, 70x70.

But even in Europe, there are non-standard kits (in cm):

  • duvet cover - 200x200, 2 pillowcases 50x70, no sheet;
  • duvet cover - 220x240, 2 pillowcases 50x70 or 70x70, sheet 230 (240) x260 or 220x240.

Family

Family Size, "duet" or simply a family set, is intended for spouses who want to sleep under two one and a half blankets. This can be explained quite simply: all people have different heat exchange, and when one of the pair is hot, the other may even be cool. That is why sets with two duvet covers went into production, and then on sale.

Standard sizes "duet" (in cm):

  • sheet - 160x200, 180x200, 220x240;
  • 2 duvet covers 143х215;
  • pillowcases (there can be 2 or 4) - 50x70, 70x70.

Baby

The parameters of bed linen for children correspond to the standards of one-and-a-half sets.

The kit includes:

  • pillowcase (1-2) - 50x70 or 70x70 cm;
  • sheet - 150x215, 160x210, 160x220 cm;
  • duvet cover - 143x215, 150x210, 153x215, 160x220 cm.

Non-standard kits for preschoolers with a sheet with an elastic band include the following components (in cm):

  • duvet cover - 115x160;
  • pillowcase - 50x70;
  • sheet - 160x80.

Lingerie for toddlers is made specifically for the standards of baby cots (in cm):

  • pillowcase - 40x60;
  • sheet - 105x170 or 120x180;
  • duvet cover - 100x140, 110x140, 115x145.

Sizing Tips

How to determine what size of bedding will be optimal specifically for your bed, so as not to accidentally choose a set that is either small or too large? Here are our recommendations on this matter.

  • Pre-measure the length and width of all bedding: blankets (or two, if you want to purchase a family set), a mattress (you should also measure the height of its sides) and pillows. Write down the received parameters so as not to forget.
  • Upon arrival at the store (or when choosing on the website), be guided by the following parameters: add 5 centimeters to the length and width of the blanket, add 2 mattress heights to the width of the sheet, and one to its length; pillowcases should be 2-3 centimeters larger than pillows by all measures. However, we want to draw your attention: if you are buying linen not for the bed, but for the sofa bed, you can choose a sheet that is only slightly smaller than the width of the sofa.
  • If you buy a sheet with an elastic band, remember that its dimensions must clearly correspond to the dimensions of the mattress - otherwise it will either not stretch at all, or it will constantly gather "in a heap" and interfere with good rest. On the packaging of stretch sheets, 3 parameters are often indicated: length, width and height, for example, "190x90 + 30" or "190x90, side 30 cm". For sofas with a back and armrests, models with an elastic band are not at all suitable - such a product will "sit" exclusively on a sofa without these attributes.

An example of choosing a set of bedding for a baby bed 80x160 cm:

  • duvet cover - 145x215 (for a blanket 140x205);
  • pillowcase - 50x70, 60x60, 70x70 (corresponds to the size of the pillow);
  • sheet 150x220 (can be tucked under the mattress) or 160x80 (with elastic).
