In the pre-war period (from 1920 to 1940), women were characterized by an elegant and romantic style. Styling "cold wave" had a special power over the fashionistas of those years. She gave the image a drama, and at the same time, the woman looked touching and cute. Ladies of the 30s adhered to the "cold" image: fragile ladies in graceful silk outfits with bright lips and perfect curls on their heads. Today, this hairstyle is relevant for special occasions. Making a “cold wave” with your own hands is quite simple. But before plunging into the era of exquisite chic, it is worth paying attention to a number of important recommendations.

1. As a rule, the style of the 30s implies short to medium hair. It is more difficult to create styling on hair of maximum length.
2. The main elements of the created hairstyle are wave, smooth curl, crown, parting. In most cases, this styling is created with an oblique hairline.
3. Owners of a graduated haircut should not do a "cold wave". The ends of the torn strands will "knock out" and the styling will lose its neatness.
4. Retro-style emphasizes the sophisticated features of the face. "Wave" is relevant for fragile young ladies with expressive eyes.
5. Gel gives a glossy shine to the styling. It is better to purchase all the necessary "styling" means for creating a hairstyle in advance and in sufficient volume.
6. The number of "waves" varies from five to three. Thus, there are more of them on the main side of the parting.

The name of this hairstyle implies curling the hair without using hot appliances (tongs, iron and hot curlers). Therefore, to complete it on your own, you will need to prepare:

• gel and varnish;
• comb (thin);
• special hair net;
• a set of clamps.

Before styling, the hair must be prepared. A flax seed decoction is an excellent remedy for elasticizing hair. It's easy to cook it yourself: take a small container, pour water (1 liter) and add 4–5 tablespoons of flax seeds, cook over medium heat for about 20 minutes, then let cool. Before styling, spray the hair with a spray bottle with a decoction. After the procedure, we comb them thoroughly.

There are many styling options. Naturally, it all depends on the length of the hair. For example, on short hair, "cold waves" are the easiest to create, because styling does not require additional strokes. "Waves" on medium and long hair will become an original element of a festive hairstyle.

Comb the hair thoroughly and apply the gel along the entire length. We make a side parting and separate (from the forehead) a wide strand. We retreat from the hairline 3-4 cm, fasten the clip, then lift the curl slightly upward with the tip of the comb. We take the clip and fix the strand at the bottom. Thus, we get crowns (peak of "waves").

Then, using a similar principle, using clamps and a comb, create the rest of the "waves" (5-6). Then, on the other side, we make three "waves". We shape the ends of the hair back. We put on a nylon hat (mesh) and let the hair dry a little. At the final stage, remove the clamps and varnish the styling.

"Cold wave" on the hair of the minimum length looks very feminine and graceful.

Divide clean hair into parts. Select the front strand (side parting) and comb it forward. We collect the rest of the hair in a ponytail and form a tourniquet from them. We twist the flagellum around the base of the tail and fix the bundle with hairpins. We cover it abundantly with varnish.

We proceed to the front curls. Comb a wide strand and lift it up. We cover the roots with varnish and apply the gel to the hair along the entire length. Gently lower the strand to the right side. We take a comb, clips and create a "cold wave" (3-4 kroons). We hide the ends of the hair in a bun and fix it again with hairpins. In the final stage, remove the clamps.

Retro style on medium hair looks especially extravagant.

As we have already said, it is difficult to create a “cold wave” on a hair of maximum length with the help of clamps. Therefore, there is another way - simple and original. To create you need:

• strong hold gel;
• crest;
• set of elastic bands.

We comb the hair, apply the gel and divide it into three parts: the side strands along the parting line and the occipital zone. Weave three braids. We fix the ends with elastic bands. It is best to do this at night. In the morning, gently undo the braids and lightly comb them with a soft brush. The result is a shiny, glossy "cold wave" that will hold its shape throughout the day.

If you do not have clamps, then you can create a "wave" with your own hands. To do this, we take a small amount of foam and apply it to clean hair. We divide the front strand into several small parts.We wind each of them (in turn) on the finger and keep it in this state until a curl is formed. We perform similar manipulations with the rest of the parts. Thus, you should get 3-4 "waves" around the face. At the very end, we fix the curls with varnish.
