Long before leaving school, many schoolchildren have a question: what profession to choose? Some decide to connect their lives with psychology. At the same time, you should definitely find out what exams you need to take as a psychologist when entering a university.

Features of the profession

When choosing a future specialty, you need to know what it is, and before the end of the eleventh grade, you need to clearly understand where you have to go, what subjects you have to "pull up" if there are problems. The profession of a psychologist has remained in demand for many years. A specialist of this profile can work in a school, kindergarten, at an enterprise, in government agencies, he can conduct consultations at home, open his own office.

The profession is suitable for those who do not like routine work. After all, every day you will have to help people in solving their problems, solve certain problems for yourself, together with patients look for a way out in different everyday situations and complex psychological dramas. It is interesting to work with children, helping them to adapt in the world around them, to establish relationships with peers. It is equally important to help people of extreme professions cope with stress and create comfortable conditions for psychological relief.

You can decide on the specialization later, but what subjects should be paid attention to, you need to think back at school.

What exams do you have to take?

When deciding on a future university and faculty, it is best to find out in advance which exams after grade 11 will need to be taken for admission. The examinations may differ from institution to institution in specific faculty. But most often in universities you need to pass the following exams for a psychologist:

  • Russian language;
  • maths;
  • biology.

To do this, it is enough to provide the results of the exam, which is taken at school after grade 11. Some universities may require results in social studies. We cannot exclude the option of a creative competition, during which they may be offered to write an essay on a psychological topic. No one will force you to penetrate the depths of the science of psychology. It can be a simple topic, for example, "What do you think is the profession of a psychologist?", "What attracts you to the profession of a psychologist?"

These tasks are necessary in order to understand how the applicant can express his thoughts, connect them, reason, how he speaks Russian. This is very important in the future profession.

In addition, an interview will also be an important stage, during which you can understand a lot: how communicative a person is, how he orients himself in certain situations in the process of communication, how stress-resistant and friendly he is. In fact, there is nothing wrong with an interview or a creative competition. The main thing is to be confident and calm.... And if a student successfully studied at school, prepared for admission, then all tests will be able to pass without problems and enter the chosen university. It is best to apply for a psychologist after grade 11... But there are different options, when time has passed, the USE results are no longer valid. In this case, you will have to pass exams for admission in those subjects that the university has established. It can be Russian, mathematics, biology, social science. Plus, an essay (creative competition) and an interview are possible.

Another option - after grade 9... But you won't be able to enroll in a psychologist right away, and in order to get more suitable training, you can go to a medical college. Upon admission, you will have to pass the Russian language, mathematics, biology, chemistry. After graduating from a secondary specialized educational institution, you can continue your studies at the university. Some aspects of psychology can already be studied at a medical college, and this will be a good help for admission.

Another option is to graduate from a teacher training college, and after that go to the institute at the faculty of psychology... The exams for the teacher training college may differ depending on the specialty chosen. This will certainly be the Russian language and mathematics, history, social studies, literature can be added to them.

What qualities need to be developed?

But passing the exam successfully, passing creative tests - that's not all. Knowing subjects well is half the battle. In the process of studying at the university, many subjects will appear that will help to master the specialty. But at the same time, it will not work to become a good psychologist if a person does not possess certain qualities, without which one cannot do in this profession. These include a number of such characteristics.

  • Love for people... The problems and interests of people should be of concern not only as a means of making money. First of all, you need to be able to look at the problem through the eyes of your patient, be imbued with it, have a great desire to help.
  • Stress tolerance... Very often, a psychologist has to deal with people who show their negative emotions. But in all situations you need to maintain self-control, learn to calm people down in the most unforeseen circumstances.
  • Sociability... The ability to listen attentively or to tell something important at the right moment, to explain some points in an accessible language - all this is necessary for a psychologist in his work.
  • Grammatically correct speech... The psychologist must be well educated, his speech must comply with all the norms of the Russian language, be clear and intelligible. At the same time, in all situations, the psychologist should speak calmly.
  • Benevolence... The presence of a positive attitude and a friendly attitude will help to win over the patient. He must see that the specialist is interested in helping him.
  • Broad outlook... This is also necessary to support any conversation, back up your words with arguments, distract the client from sad thoughts, and calm down.

You need to think about all this even at school, in order not only to prepare for general education subjects, but also to understand whether there are those qualities that in the future will help to devote oneself to the chosen specialty. If there is a great desire to enroll in a psychologist, you need to purposefully go towards this and cultivate these qualities in yourself. Maybe besides the main subjects, it is worth enrolling in psychology courses that will help with admission, reading literature... Then, in addition to the necessary subjects that are required for admission, it will be possible to successfully pass both the creative competition and the interview.
