Satin sheets with elastic
Fitted sheets are becoming more and more popular due to their ease of use and practicality. It is also important what material the product is made of. It is recommended to give preference to natural fabrics, for example, satin.
Peculiarities
A sheet with an elastic band is a familiar product, along the perimeter of which (sometimes only at the corners) an elastic band is inserted. Thanks to her, the sheet is pulled over the mattress (hence another name - tension) and securely fixed. Even with restless sleep, the product does not collect in lumps.
This is the main advantage of a sheet with an elastic band. It is also worth noting the convenience of putting it on a mattress, practicality and the ability to use it as a mattress topper.
A sheet with an elastic band can be made of any material, for example, satin. Refers to natural fabrics, which means that sleeping on such a product will be healthy. Satin is a kind of cotton fabrics, it is a smooth, slightly slippery fabric. The outer side is shiny, the wrong side is matte.
Silky satin has a muted shine - satin linen looks elegant, pleasant to the touch. Outwardly, it resembles silk, but it costs less. It is considered elite among other cotton "brothers".
At the same time, the fabric is "breathable" - it allows air to pass through, retains moisture, does not provoke allergies and the "greenhouse effect".
Varieties
In many respects, the properties and appearance are determined by the composition of the fabric - silk threads or synthetics can be added to cotton. There are several types of material.
-
Regular satin - fabric density up to 130 threads / sq. cm. It is used for sewing budget products.
- Printed satin - density up to 170 threads / sq. cm. Obtained by weaving dyed threads. The fabric is denser, more practical.
- Satin coupon - in general, it is similar to printed, but the drawing is applied by means of printing (including 3D). This allows you to create lingerie with the most unusual patterns.
- Satin jacquard - density up to 220 threads / sq. cm. Dense, but soft fabric, has no front and back sides, is attractive and has high tactile performance. There is also a type of stripe, which is satin with jacquard weaving. You can find out the material by the characteristic stripes or squares in the weaving.
- Satin-mako - maximum density, not less than 220 threads / sq. cm. Made from the finest and longest strands of cotton. Airy and durable canvas with perfect gloss, can be painted in any shade. Does not wrinkle during washing.
Dimensions (edit)
A sheet with an elastic band is selected based on the size of the mattress. As a rule, the manufacturer on the packaging indicates 3 dimensional values - length, width and height of the mattress. If the latter is not indicated, you should take measurements yourself so that the sheet is suitable.
Besides, there are standards - these are single, double and one-and-a-half sizes. Single sheets can be 110x200 or 120x200 cm in size.
One-and-a-half counterparts - 160x200 cm (less common is the option 140x200 cm). Couples usually give preference to double products, the size of which will be 175-210 cm (width) by 210-230 cm (length). And also some manufacturers offer sheets 180x200 and 200x200 cm.
The dimensions given are the maximum figures, although some manufacturers may have their own dimensional grid and produce smaller products. But more - they no longer produce.
For wide beds, Euro sheets will be optimal. Their length varies between 260-280 cm, width - 240 cm.
For custom beds in the form of a circle or oval, sheets with elastic bands are also available. Usually their diameter is 250 cm.
Products for children are usually produced in the size 90x200 or 120x180 (option for teenagers).
When choosing a product, it is better to rely on the size of the bed, and not on the size of the sheet. For example, for a mattress measuring 150x200x20 cm, a sheet of the same size will be small. You should select a product in the size of 150x200x25 cm. You should always leave a margin of mattress height.
Selection Tips
Satin products based on natural threads are considered to be of the highest quality. They have an attractive appearance, good hygroscopicity, and serve for a long time. The more artificial fibers in the fabric, the lower its ability to pass air and absorb moisture. Mixed materials can become electrified and cause negative skin reactions.
The label will help determine what percentage of cotton is in the composition. The higher the percentage of cotton, the better. It is not recommended to purchase a product containing 50% or more synthetics. It is also possible to determine the natural material by weight - it is noticeably heavier than the synthetic analogue.
Before purchasing a product, evaluate its quality - the seams should be even, there should be no protruding or broken threads.
Try to stretch the fabric - it shouldn't stretch too much, be loose, or have gaps.
It is more convenient when the elastic is sewn around the entire perimeter of the mattress. In this case, the sheet does not slide off it, and due to a tighter fit on the sheet, there are no folds and "bubbles" when tucked in.
