From the very birth of the baby, young parents need to pay attention to the soft gun on the baby's head. Subsequently, it is worth taking care of the hair of older children just as closely. This article will help you choose the right baby combs and not get lost in the huge variety of types and brands.

Features and Benefits

Any parents care about the health of their children, including the condition of their hair and scalp. It is important not to damage the baby's thin epidermis and take care of the hypoallergenicity of the materials so as not to cause a negative reaction of the young organism.

It should be understood that male and female hair itself is no different: the difference in structure is not due to gender, but to heredity. Thus, there are no differences in combs for girls and boys in the first years of their life. All baby brushes should be very soft so as not to irritate delicate skin. They are needed not so much for combing as for head massage, which stimulates the development of skin follicles.

But for older children, the combs may already be different. As a rule, girls wear long hair, so for complete care they should buy several combs: one simple brush, a large comb for untangling large mats and a small comb for the ends. Boys can get by with one simple brush, the main thing is that it is comfortable and does not bring unpleasant sensations.

Natural comb-brush

This type has either natural bristles, or rather soft synthetic bristles that do not injure the epidermis. It is worth using it for babies who do not yet have hair or they are sparse. You can use brushes before your child is three years old and their hair becomes coarser. You should not try to save money on it, because the process of hair care can even be painful.

Scallop

If the baby's scalp is flaking and crusting, then a comb is a must. It is worth combing them out very carefully, best of all after a bath and applying special baby oil, when the skin is softened as much as possible. The teeth should not be sharp so as not to scratch the child.

Massage brush

It should be understood that such a comb is needed not for hair care, but for massage. It stimulates the growth of the bulbs by improving blood circulation.

Materials (edit)

Many combs for children are made from low-quality materials, and this can cause great harm to your baby.

Wood

Probably the most advantageous option. It is environmentally friendly and does not cause allergies. The objective advantage of wood is that it does not electrify the hair. Moreover, it does not disturb the natural structure of the hair, preventing the formation of split ends. Some types of wood have simply amazing properties, for example, oak combs help relieve statistical stress, sandalwood and juniper work as an antiseptic, while birch does an excellent job of dandruff.

It should be understood that painted or polished combs already lose all their useful properties. If the comb breaks or clues appear on it, then it must be thrown away immediately so that the child does not get hurt.

However, the tree has several drawbacks. First, the teeth of these ridges are quite sharp. Secondly, the tree easily darkens and loses its attractive appearance. Thirdly, such material requires careful maintenance. You only need to wash the comb with cool water, as the wood swells due to the hot water. Then it needs to be dried, otherwise germs can start there.

Plastic

It is very easy to care for such combs, they are not subject to external aggressive influences. Because of this, their service life is much longer than that of the same wooden ones. However, these combs can damage your hair and electrify it.

Metal

These ridges are certainly very beautiful and interesting. But this material is the most unsuitable for children. First of all, metal spoils the hair. Such combs are traumatic - children can harm themselves, especially if they use it on their own.

Natural bristles

This is a great material for babies - it is soft and does not contain toxic dyes. But you need to remember that the child may become allergic to him. Parents of children with thick curly hair should also think about other types, since the bristles simply cannot comb them. For oily hair, it will also be ineffective, because it will only carry fat along the entire length.

You may have doubts when choosing, since sometimes it is difficult to distinguish a natural product from synthetics. However, there is a proven method: notice the color. Natural bristles cannot be exactly the same color.

Artificial bristles: a classic and very comfortable option. Hygienic, does not cause allergies. Usually they have small round bumps at the ends - so the bristles do not injure the scalp.

Brands

  • Chicco set. Popular and high quality combs. The set includes a brush with natural, soft bristles and a plastic comb with small balls at the end. The price usually ranges from 600 to 800 rubles.
  • NUK combs. The complete set of the kit is the same as in the previous paragraph: a brush and a comb. However, the appearance is more attractive and ergonomic - they are comfortable to hold. There are several colors: yellow, blue, red and green.
  • Cute Kurnosiki set. A pair of combs are made in the form of animals. They can easily help you make a fun game out of the brushing ritual. The price pleases - only about 150 rubles.
  • Baby Nova is also a two piece set. But the materials in it are artificial: plastic and synthetics. There are no balls at the ends of the comb, but they are rounded enough so that the child does not get hurt.
  • Faberlic. Yes, this popular brand also produces children's combs! This brush is suitable for older children. It is bright: multi-colored bristles will amuse the child and instill a love of personal care.
  • Comb Winx from Vitek. An ionizer is built into it, which, according to the manufacturers, will keep the hair healthy. But the effectiveness of the properties has not yet been studied, so it is still not worth experimenting on a child.

How to choose?

The process of choosing a comb can be difficult, even for an adult, let alone a child. The two deciding factors will be hair length and structure.

Long, thin hair is easy to tangle and requires a special approach. Brushes with soft teeth, of slightly different lengths, easily glide through the hair, unraveling the strands.

If your hair is sparse and grows slowly, a massage brush will do.... It is worth choosing a mixed bristle, as this will ensure maximum blood flow to the head and stimulate hair growth.

For curls, use a thin comb, so that the strands continue to curl neatly, and if you want to straighten them a little, use a brush with frequent teeth - it will help to straighten them.

How to take care of it properly?

Excess hair must be immediately removed from the combing field, and combs also need to be washed. With plastic, everything is quite simple: you need to soak for ten minutes in warm water. With a tree, everything is far from simple - in no case should it be soaked, otherwise the tree will soften! It is best to simply rinse and leave to dry.

It is also difficult to cope with synthetic or natural bristles - rinsing will not work. Prepare a special product: in one liter of warm water, stir 5-10 milliliters of baby shampoo and one tablespoon of vinegar (it works as an antiseptic). Leave the brush on for 10 minutes, then rinse. Pay special attention to drying, otherwise bacteria can grow in the comb, which can harm the delicate scalp.
