• Plants, flowers... The carving of platbands with vegetation and flowers is a symbol of unification with the outside world and all living things.

Platbands made of carved wood can not only be ordered from craftsmen, but also made with your own hands at home. At the first stage of work, it is worth doing preparation of materials, tools, drawings in compliance with proportions. Boards with few knots should be preferred. The procedure for making platbands is carried out using a soft-start jigsaw, a pen drill, a screwdriver and a sander.

The phased production of frames is as follows

• measurements are taken from the windows;
• blanks are cut out from dried lumber;
• from the inside of the casing, a wooden composition is selected to a depth of about 2 millimeters, while edges are left along the edges;
• a pattern is cut out, which was applied according to the template, the holes are drilled using drills of different diameters;
• all slots and holes are processed with sanding paper or a vacuum cleaner;
• parts that are made using an overhead thread are attached to a wide base (fastening reliability can be ensured by applying glue to the pattern from the wrong side).

There are several options for attaching platbands to windows.

This is a sophisticated mounting option that is able to protect the installation site from water ingress. At the same time, it is almost invisible.
• Through thorn. This option is lighter than the previous one, but less reliable. The spikes are mounted at points where they will be minimally visible.

So that carved window and door frames adorn the facade of the building for many years, it is worth considering processing them... For this purpose, the wood should be primed, painted or varnished. The work can be done both independently and with the help of specialists.
