Resume Mechanic: Structure and Compilation Tips
Mechanic is one of the most important and responsible professions in our world. But in order to find a job, even the most intelligent mechanic must correctly write a resume.
Structure
Typically, a chief mechanic's resume has three main parts. First, indicate information about yourself (full name and other similar information). Then they talk about education, knowledge of foreign languages and the desired position. The third block lists (in reverse order) the previous places of work. Be sure to write about the key skills used in each case. It can be:
- release of vehicles and other self-propelled equipment for the route;
- experience in organizing repair work;
- work with documentation;
- calculations based on the cost of transportation;
- drawing up budgets of the structural unit;
- control over the implementation of safety standards.
The resume for the position of senior mechanical engineer in the Navy in the first two parts is similar to the resume for "land" mechanics. Only the basic responsibilities differ. These may include:
- operation of power machines on ships;
- maintenance of the main ship machinery;
- management of ordinary technicians and repairmen;
- drawing up orders for the purchase of spare parts;
- drawing up repair plans;
- conducting technical policy.
An electrician's resume usually begins with personal data, including the city of residence and telephone number. Then they write about education (usually secondary specialized), and about the qualifications awarded. Then comes the turn of job descriptions (it is recommended to start with the very first ones and end with the ones where the person worked the last time or is working now).
Professional skills are written in a separate section.It is indicated what the applicant worked with (for example, with a certain type of aircraft or with complex medical equipment). It is useful to mention the equipment that the electrician installed and configured. It is equally important to point out the experience of repair and adjustment of various equipment.
Of the personal qualities, it is worth mentioning the electrical safety group, the ability to read diagrams, communicate with customers and process technical documentation.
Errors
You should not give too much information about yourself. Of course, I want to tell a lot, but it's worth learning to highlight the main thing and focus on it. Writing a resume longer than 2 pages is a surefire way to quit a job.
At the same time, one should not strike at the opposite extreme - to describe one's professional path to a minimum. Also gross errors will be:
- incorrectly selected photo;
- writing information that distracts from the main thing;
- grammatical errors and incorrect presentation style;
- a description of outside experience not related to the required position;
- indication of the phone number by which it is extremely difficult to contact the applicant;
- blots and corrections;
- lack of a clear structure.
Samples
Let's analyze ready-made resume examples of the chief mechanic and mechanical engineer. The master mechanic candidate starts by specifying the full name and the desired pay level. Next, you need to write about:
- desired operating mode;
- date of birth;
- preferred city of work;
- basic contact details;
- work experience and main responsibilities (for example, tracking the condition of vehicles in a particular vehicle fleet);
- education (in reverse order, you can limit yourself to vocational training, as in this example).
A mechanical engineer can write about himself like this:
- first name, address and other contact details;
- then the purpose of the resume;
- work experience and functions performed;
- available education;
- information about additional training, knowledge of foreign languages, special programs;
- and, finally, about professionally significant aspects of personality.
