How to warm up the sugaring paste?
Cooled shugaring paste is tough and unusable. In order for it to easily flow into the mouth of the hair, it must first be prepared, that is, heated. Warm paste has the best adhesion properties, and you can warm it up at home on your own without using special devices.
General rules
Not every shugaring paste needs to be heated. If it is soft, then this procedure is not required at all, otherwise it will start to flow. A medium-weight paste can be warmed up with your hands while kneading. Again, it depends on what kind of shugaring technique the master will use. For example, with a manual technique, preheating is not required, but with a bandage technique, it is required.
Hard density shugaring paste must be warmed up. It will be difficult and long to knead it with your hands. Some masters recommend mixing it with a medium density depilator to make it more elastic. This technique works in the opposite case, when the paste becomes too soft and does not remove hard hairs well.
The optimum temperature for heating dense pasta is + 37– + 40 degrees Celsius, medium density - + 25– + 30, soft - + 18– + 25. If there is no thermometer, then you should be guided by your own feelings, when you can safely pinch off with your hands. If the temperature is higher, it is easy to get burned. And the tool itself will become more fluid, it is much more difficult to work with such. Ideally, it is warm and supple.
Important! Sugar paste is not scary to overheat. The main thing is not to apply it right away, so as not to burn yourself or the client, but wait until it cools down. Cooling is not recommended. If the sugar is burnt (darkened, blackened), then the product is no longer suitable for use.
The ways
Reheating the pasta at home is a snap. The total time takes from 10 seconds to half an hour, depending on the chosen method.
- The simplest and most common, which even the craftsmen in the salons use, is using a microwave oven. It is present in almost every home. In it, the pasta heats up in a few seconds if you set a high power. But experts all recommend using less power, for example, defrosting mode (150-200 W). It will take more time to warm up (30–40 seconds), but the paste warms up evenly, it is easier to control the temperature and you can put a larger container (up to 500 ml). The lid on the packaging is most often made of foil, it must be removed first, otherwise the device may be damaged. The only drawback of this method is the inability to control the temperature of the paste. Therefore, it is often overheated. Moreover, there are frequent cases of spoilage, because sugar burns easily.
- Alternatively, you can use a water bath to reheat the pasta without using the microwave. The method is rather laborious and the most time-consuming, but there is practically no risk of overheating the product. You will need a wide metal container, saucepan or ladle, which is filled with water about 5-7 cm. On high heat, the water is brought to a boil, and then put on low heat. A container with pasta is dipped into hot water. It is important to note that the product absorbs water vapor, which can impair adhesion. And never put chilled or frozen pasta in boiling water. The container will crack from a sharp temperature drop. You can check the readiness of the pasta by hand by pinching off a lump from the middle.
Important! But you cannot warm up in the oven. Not only will the paste heat up unevenly, the plastic container will also melt. But in winter, you can use the battery by placing the capacity directly on it.
- You can warm up the pasta at home in a wax melt. This is a special device used for wax and sugar depilation. It is considered the optimal solution because it provides uniform heating and can maintain a given temperature. First, set the temperature to + 60– + 80 degrees Celsius so that the pasta heats up faster, and then reduce the temperature to + 38– + 40 degrees Celsius. You can immediately set the optimal parameters, but then the warm-up time will increase.
There are special models for home use. If the shugaring procedure is carried out regularly or the master works part-time at home, then the purchase of such a device is more than justified. It is easy to use and inexpensive (from 500 rubles). It is especially advantageous to use it when a significant amount of paste is required, for example, for several people or a large volume of treated areas. To knead so much with your hands is exhausting for the joints. Voskoplav allows not only to evenly heat a large amount of the product without periodic stirring, but will also maintain the optimal temperature for a long time.
Recommendations
With frequent heating, the shugaring paste begins to lose its beneficial properties and processes the hair sections worse. It is not recommended to heat the same paste more than three times. Otherwise, it loses moisture, becomes more rigid. It is better to break off in parts and heat the required amount. For the same reason, it is recommended to divide it into different containers if a large volume is purchased at once.
Shugaring paste in cartridges must be heated vertically so that it does not flow. To do this, it is more convenient to place it in a glass. If heated in a water bath, the water level must correspond to the height of the cartridge, otherwise the heating will not be uniform. Never bring the pasta to a boil, especially in the microwave. From this, it becomes sugar-coated, and the product can be thrown away. The main thing to remember is that it is better to warm up than overheat.
