Ash is called a cold shade of light blond hair. Such a color is never "our own", that is, it is not natural. Nevertheless, this color gives brightness to any hair. Dyeing curls in an ashy color is now relevant. The technology of such dyeing is called ash shatush and is a toning of strands. As a result, the color is vivid and saturated, the hair gets texture, and the image, for all its visible negligence, acquires notes of aristocracy.

What it is?

Ash Shatush is a dyeing technology that allows you to color individual hair strands in light and dark tones of the same color. This technique is designed to create the effect of sun-bleached hair. The strands are colored chaotically, which, on the one hand, allows to achieve visual smoothness of transitions, and on the other hand, creates the effect of pseudo-negligence, which is now at the height of fashion.

Ash shatush gives hair visual volume, revives and refreshes the base hair color, emphasizes the individuality of its owner.

Dyeing using the shatush technique is widespread among young people and among mature women, as it looks great on both. The main thing when choosing a color is to choose the shades correctly. The dyes used to color the strands are usually not aggressive and do not cause significant damage to the hair.

Difference from balayage and blonding

Balayazh, and blonding, and shatush, and ombre are techniques for partial coloring of hair. And although they have a lot of differences, the result is similar - these are dark roots and light ends of the hair.

Let's briefly outline how these techniques differ.

  • Balayazh or, as it is also called, stretching the color, allows you to achieve the most smooth transition from dark to light. In the balayage technique, the ends are colored at the level of 2/3 of the entire length of the strand.
  • When blonding thin strands are painted in similar colors of the same tone. This allows you to achieve the effect of extreme naturalness and revitalize the color. This technique is often used to color gray hair.
  • Shatush intended for the effect of sun-faded hair. Moreover, the longer the hair is, the more effective this technique will look.

Who is it suitable for?

In general, this method of dyeing is quite universal, since neither the features of the texture, nor the degree of density of the curls play a role - the ash shatush is suitable for all types of hair.

Regarding the base color - it is not recommended for carriers of fiery hair to dye curls in ashy shades. That is, ash shatush is not suitable for red and red shades, as well as for owners of warm skin tones. Ash shades are good on the cold genotype, as they favorably set off the natural beauty of pale skin.

Also, this coloring method is not possible on ultra-short haircuts.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of this technique include the following.

  • Slight damage to hair (compared to dyeing along the entire length). This is an obvious plus, since the clarifier is not applied to the roots.
  • Emphasizes the depth of natural color, making it brighter and more interesting, as if shading.
  • Creates a volume effect.
  • Perfectly hides gray hair. Cold shades of blonde merge with gray hairs, and even if such a shade appears at the roots, it looks like part of the image.
  • Natural look. Hair with this coloring looks as natural as possible, there is no wig effect.
  • Lack of the effect of regrown roots, since in this case they are simply invisible. The hairstyle can remain well-groomed for up to 3 months (with proper care).

The disadvantages include such points as:

    • the complexity of staining, that is, the impossibility of creating this effect at home, a trip to the salon is required;
    • not suitable for everyone, since it makes the face very expressive, focusing on all its advantages and disadvantages, that is, girls with problem skin should not choose this coloring method;
    • hair needs special care, without which the shatush effect will quickly lose its brightness.

    For different hair types

The plus of dyeing using the ash shatush technique on straight hair is that it gives them lightness and volume. However, it is important to place the accents correctly here. It must be remembered that when dyeing straight hair using the shatush method, you cannot do without the use of bouffant, otherwise all the bloopers and shortcomings will be visible.

Curly hair is the perfect canvas for shatush. On them, it looks natural and beautiful. The curls are randomly arranged, so shades of dark and light are especially visible. If the curls are tight enough, then the bouffant can be skipped. Curly hair itself is more porous in structure, so it takes on dye faster, which allows you to shorten the dyeing time.

As noted earlier, owners of excessively short haircuts will not be able to use coloring using the shatush technique. But this does not exclude its use for short haircuts in general. Shatush is great on a bob haircut with lengthening.

Dark hair dyed using the shatush method looks brighter and more expressive than light hair. Shatush for short and very light hair requires a mandatory consultation with a specialist, so choosing the right tone is much more difficult.

Fair-haired girls can choose the same shades as the owners of blond color, since all these combinations look natural and do not create a conflict between the base shade and the color of the curls. But when choosing a color, one should not forget about the color type of the skin. The colder tones of the coloring products are suitable for fair skin. Owners of a darker skin color are more suitable for golden shades.

Ash brown or any other dark tones with a gray tint are recommended for burning brunettes. This choice is equally good on black hair, as well as on chocolate or coffee strands. In this case, the strands do not need to be strongly lightened, this will save their health. This combination perfectly emphasizes the depth of brown eyes.

For dyeing dark hair using the shatush technique, it is not recommended to turn to blonde shades, this will create an effect opposite to the desired one.

In order to create a shocking image on dark hair, the master may suggest opting for brighter shades - it can be blue or purple or even red. In this case, the hair roots are colored in the darkest variation of the selected shade, and the ends gradually turn into a lighter shade of the same color.

In general, the darker the base hair tone, the more vibrant and interesting effects you can create. The amount of clarifier in the paint and the waiting time also play a role. The higher the concentration and the longer the time that the paint will act on the hair, the lighter the result will be.

However, do not forget that the ash shatush technique itself creates the effect of burnt out (and therefore dry) hair, so if they are dry by themselves, the ends split and frizz, then it is necessary to cut them off before dyeing and not overdo it with the waiting time. This applies equally to dark and blonde hair.

Owners of light brown and blond hair are better off opting for a gray shade. This is especially true for older ladies, this color will look fresh on them. On light brown and light strands, pearl and platinum blonde looks great. At the same time, the contrast will not be so bright, but such coloring will revive the hairstyle, refresh the complexion and emphasize the expressiveness of the eyes.

Very young girls can be less careful in this regard and feel free to experiment even with the color of gray hair, which looks extremely bold and relevant.

Ash-blonde shade can be dark, medium and light. The first is universal. This color is suitable for those who are afraid to harm their hair and do not strive for special brightness. This shade of ash will help diversify and refresh your hairstyle.

Medium smoky blond (or light ash) is also considered universal. Experimenting with different combinations of light brown shades with smoky tones helps to find the right combination for warm girls, which is actually quite difficult. At the same time, for cold types, this tone is initially considered basic and indispensable in any variation. On dark hair, it is quite easy to achieve a medium smoky blond shade, since it does not require total lightening.

Light ash blonde is a natural color for most Slavs, so cold light blonde strands look natural on this color. Nevertheless, brown-haired women can also find a suitable tone of this shade. But black-haired girls are not recommended to choose light blond colors, since it will not be possible to achieve a beautiful transition between them.

The lightest of the various shades of ash shatush is ash blond. It is important to consider that when choosing it, the gradient between the base color and between the lightened curls is clearer, but at the same time it looks catchy and original. At the same time, light eyes will become even colder and sparkling, and brown will become alluring and expressive due to the sharp contrast with light curls.

A gray shade is a rather bold choice, which, however, suits almost everyone: both those who are young and daring, and those who want to hide the gray hair that appears. It is quite difficult to achieve a gray shade, but it is worth it, as it looks aristocratic and at the same time bold.

In general, dyeing using the ash shatush technique is possible on any hair color. At the same time, this type of coloring looks best on dark hair (all shades of chestnut, black, dark blond). But if desired, a competent master can choose the right tone for hair of any color. The length of the hair also plays an important role - dyeing using the ash shatush technique is more profitable and looks interesting on long curls.
