Everything related to the choice of children's footwear enjoys special attention from parents. Even when it comes to the usual beach shale. The rocky bottom of the river, hot beach sand, slippery tiles of the pool - all this can cause some inconvenience to the child. That is why lightweight, durable slates are an indispensable part of children's wardrobe. The history of their appearance, models and features of these shoes will be discussed in our article.

History of appearance

Slates have appeared relatively recently. Previously, people used ordinary sandals, and only in Japan and other Asian countries they wore shoes very reminiscent of modern slates.

Shale gained wide popularity and popularity in the middle of the last century. Almost at the same time as other world manufacturers in the USSR, they launched the production of their own rubber slippers. The plant for their production was located in the city of Slantsy, hence their name.

Today, slates are made not only from rubber, but also from plastic and other materials. They owe their popularity to their unsurpassed lightness, practicality and convenience. They perfectly complement any set of beachwear, they can be worn on a hot summer day and with your everyday wardrobe. They are worn in the city and in the country, in nature and in the pool.

Peculiarities

Slates are footwear designed for walking on sand or gravel, so they are mostly found on the beach. However, lightweight, non-slip slates are an indispensable piece of pool wear. After all, they can be worn at home as well instead of slippers.

A distinctive feature of these shoes is their lightness. That is why rubber, polyurethane, leather and other materials with extremely low weight are most often used for the manufacture of slates.

As a rule, they are worn on bare feet, it is not hot in them, the most open style gives the foot comfort and does not allow sweating. They are easy to put on and take off. They are great for children of all ages.

Wet shales do not deform, so you can walk in them not only along the shore, but also on wet grass or along the bottom of a reservoir. Slates are very practical: they do not require special care or the use of special cleaning agents and detergents. Slates retain their original appearance for a long time without any changes in color or shape.

Models

Classic slates have the most laconic design - a flat sole with a bridge that holds the foot. Most often, slates are made of rubber, but there are also combined models with a bridge made of plastic, textile, silicone, etc. The bridge can be of different shapes, lengths and thicknesses.

The flip-flops themselves are very comfortable, but they are not designed to be constantly worn, running, jumping, etc. The leg is practically not fixed in them, therefore, with active movements, injury is possible, especially if the leg is wet.

More feminine and elegant models are made of leather or suede. They can have a small heel or a platform, be made in beautiful color combinations, be decorated with all kinds of prints and decorative elements.

Slates for girls differ, first of all, in colors. It is usually brighter. It can be slates of red, pink, orange, blue, green, purple, yellow and other colors and their combinations.

Artificial flowers, lintels made of contrasting colors of materials, applications, rhinestones, various weaves, beads, etc. are used as decorations. And the design of the slates itself can be more elegant.

Slates for boys are made in a calmer, restrained color scheme (blue, black, gray, purple, etc.). A print or applique depicting a cartoon character, fairytale character, favorite toy, animal is used as decoration.

Another place where shale is indispensable is the pool. Slippery wall tiles tend to have a rough, non-slip surface, however, pool slates are a must.

It is, after all, just hygienic. The model for the pool can be the simplest, have a calm color and not be complemented by decorative elements.

How to choose?

Despite the fact that slates are not used constantly, but from time to time, their choice must be approached as carefully as the choice of other children's shoes.

  • Material. Rubber slates are, of course, very comfortable. But today you can pick up models made of even lighter materials. And for a child, every extra gram of clothing or shoes, of course, matters. It is best to pay attention to polyurethane slates. The material is very lightweight, safe, non-toxic, not afraid of water, strong, durable, abrasion resistant.
  • Another option: the combined model. For example, the outsole can be polyurethane and the upper can be leather or textile. Such slates look more elegant, resembling, rather, open sandals.
  • Clasp. For small children, it is best to choose models with fixation. It can be Velcro or slates with a special elastic band.
  • The size. Do not forget that slates are very unreliable footwear in terms of fixing the foot. Therefore, the size should be matched as accurately as possible to the child's foot. Too narrow will squeeze and cause inconvenience, too wide - they will simply fly off their feet.

It is best to buy slates, like other children's shoes, in specialized stores, for example, sports ones.

This will give a guarantee of quality for flip flops, safety of the material from which they are made, durability and comfort in use.
