Styles
Knitted hats are an almost all-weather accessory. Depending on what yarn the hat is knitted from, it can be both a summer and a demi-season thing, and even a headdress for the winter.
Summer models are most often made of cotton yarn, viscose or linen, jute or raffia can also be used, for winter they choose woolen, semi-woolen or acrylic yarn, as well as mohair or with a boucle effect.
Here are some styles of hats that have been successfully knitted:
- Fedor. A headpiece with a trapezoidal crown, in which there are three indentations. Medium-width margins that can be folded up.
- Trilby. The crown also resembles a trapezoid in shape, but it has one depression in the center and two small ones on the sides. The fields are narrower than Fedora's. The base of the crown can be decorated with chains, beaded laces, etc.
- Homburg. The crown is trapezoidal, with one longitudinal depression, narrow margins, curved up at the sides. The crown can be decorated with a ribbon or knitted laces.
- Broad-brim. Can be crocheted or tightly knitted. Usually decorated with knitted flowers, braid or feathers.
- Bowler hat. The crown is rounded, without indentations, narrow margins, curved upwards.
- Cloche. A bell hat that covers the forehead, with a low, rounded crown and narrow brim. The crown and the margin can be separated by a ribbon. Such hats are usually decorated with various decorative elements, most often with knitted flowers.
- Slouch. With drooping margins of medium width and a low, rounded crown.
- Breton. With a low, hemispherical crown, with wide brim, curved up at the edges.
- With ears. Craftswomen knit hats with ears, which are called "Cat", "Fox", "Panda". The names in this case speak for themselves.
The number of styles of knitted hats is simply impressive: you can even see knitted top hats and pill hats.
How to choose?
When choosing a style, it is important to pay attention not only to the material, texture and color of the thing, but also to match the shape of the hat to the type of face:
- On a round face, knitted hats with a high crown will look good, which should visually lengthen it. It is important that the headpiece does not cover the forehead. You should pay attention to models decorated with vertically arranged elements, for example, feathers. Margins can be straight or asymmetrical. It is better to refuse hats with a rounded crown. Models that move on the forehead: cloche, pill, bowler hat - will not fit chubby.
- Knitted hats with a high crown are suitable for a square type face. Preference should be given to styles with a rounded crown or those that can be worn by sliding to one side. The brim of the headgear can be asymmetrical or lowered, with bends. Straight margins should be avoided.
- For persons with a "heart", the best option would be knitted hats with a medium-brimmed length, the cloche model is suitable. It is better to refuse wide-brimmed hats.
- If you have an elongated face, opt for hats with a low crown and wide brim, on styles that cover the forehead. The cloche model will do.
- With the shape of the face "oval" the choice of styles is widest. It is believed that in this case there are no restrictions.
