Small dogs are preferred by apartment owners, because they do not need to allocate a lot of free space. One of the popular small dog breeds is the White Spitz. They look very cute and mostly evoke only positive emotions.

Description

The White Spitz breed is known by several names at once. Some call it German, some call it dwarf or Pomeranian. If we talk about the latter, they got it thanks to the fact that Pomerania, which is located on the shores of the Baltic Sea, is their historical homeland. However, they are bred not only in Germany, but also in England or America.

Despite its small to medium size, the breed originated from fairly large and hardy northern dogs. The breeders' work was not in vain. Queen Victoria herself appreciated the charming white Spitz. It is believed that it was she who gave the go-ahead for further work on their breeding. Thanks to this, fluffy and cute dogs began to be called royal.

Initially, the Spitz was characterized by an optically white (cold snow-white) color. And for a long time he enjoyed great popularity. However, a little later, animals appeared with other shades. Today, dogs with this color are considered very rare, moreover, only they are allowed to the exhibitions. If there are even small spots, they are immediately removed from participation.

To see if a puppy will remain white when it grows up, look at its parents.

If they are both snow-white, with a black nose and eyes, then their children will also be so.But if at least one of the relatives has a shade, for example, cream, or barely noticeable spots, then the puppies will also have them.

White Spitz looks like this:

  • he has a small body;
  • a small and fluffy tail that fits snugly on the back;
  • the muzzle is slightly elongated, with large and round eyes;
  • the ears are raised in a triangle, set relatively high;
  • the nose, mouth and border around the eyes are black;
  • paws are small, placed parallel to each other;
  • the coat is very thick and long, practically does not fall out, its color is ideal white;
  • such animals weigh no more than 3.5 kilograms with a height of 20-25 centimeters;
  • if they are properly cared for, they can live up to 15-18 years.

There are three varieties of these cute dogs.

  • Fox - such a dog with its muzzle is very similar to a fox. The tail of these animals is slightly longer than that of other dogs.
  • The toy (toy) pomeranian has a rather flat muzzle, and the eyes are slightly higher.
  • Bear Spitz are very popular, because outwardly they are similar to small bears, as well as chow-chow puppies.

Character traits

A lot of good things can be said about the character of the Spitz. They are quite cute and friendly dogs that make great companions for people living alone. Since they are very small in size, you can carry them with you almost anywhere and everywhere. After all, these kids do not like to be lonely and always want to be close to their owners.

However, such a dog is not suitable for families with small children. After all, Spitz does not like it at all if they are treated carelessly and offend them. This attitude can make the little pet nervous. However, if the children in the family are a little older and know all the rules for communicating with animals, then the Spitz can become a real friend for them.

Little Spitz barks loudly and loudly. Therefore, if this is very annoying to a person, then barking must be fought from childhood. And although the animals are very small in stature, they are quite brave and wayward. So, they can pounce on even a larger dog if they think that it poses a threat to the owner.

If there are other pets in the house, then the Spitz can easily get along with them.

Such animals love to be walked with them on the street. If this is not done, then they will be very active in the house. In addition, babies always love to be in the spotlight.

How to choose?

Having decided to acquire such a small friend for yourself, you need to approach this with great responsibility. It is best to take a puppy in a kennel. Indeed, most often they are sold there with a pedigree, which is important for some breeders. In addition, such animals are less aggressive and well-bred.

If you make a purchase via the Internet or through an ad, then there is a chance to get a non-purebred puppy. Spitz are considered to be quite expensive dogs, but their price depends on many factors. For example, a female Spitz will cost much more, since she will be able to continue the race. This is especially important for those people who breed dogs.

However, the most important thing when choosing a puppy is to please its owner.

How to name?

Many people find it very difficult to choose a nickname for their friend. After all, everyone wants to give a name that will not only sound beautiful, but also please both the owner and the Spitz himself. When choosing, be sure to take into account the fact that small dogs are mature personalities. Therefore, it is not necessary to call the boy affectionately, that is, by such a name as Zephyr or Bagel. You can think of a more serious nickname - White, Weiss, Antares.

The girl can be called, for example, Snow White, Bellatrix, Bianca.

However, most often, when buying their pets in kennels, the owners automatically receive with them a document with a nickname recorded in it, which simplifies everything. It also makes it easier to trace their ancestry.

Small white Pomeranian pets can live a long life with proper care. First of all, it is necessary to provide them with due attention, regardless of whether he is an adult or even a puppy. You can teach him to execute some commands. If you do this from an early age, then literally at 4 months he will listen to his master unconditionally. And if you pay a lot of attention to the dog, then it will respond with great devotion. In addition, do not forget about proper nutrition.

What to feed?

When it comes to food, small pets tend to be picky here. Almost everything depends on the owner himself, more precisely, on what kind of food he will accustom the dog to. When choosing a thoroughbred animal, be sure to ask the seller what food the puppy ate in the kennel.

If the diet changes completely under the new conditions, then this transition should be smooth so that it is painless for the Spitz and does not affect his health.

You can feed dogs both natural food and industrial food. If the dog's diet is selected by the owner himself, the following products must be included in it.

  • Meat, which should make up 40 percent of the total diet. It is best served raw. It can be beef or lean pork.
  • Fresh bones.
  • Fish should be given several times a week. If it is marine, then it is better to give it raw, but the river one needs to be boiled a little.
  • Boiled eggs.
  • Some fermented milk products, such as low-fat cottage cheese or kefir.
  • Various cereals. It can be buckwheat, rice, and oats.
  • Boiled vegetables, as well as some greens.

It is strictly forbidden to give smoked meats, any sweet or spicy. However, you can feed your pets with industrial feed. It will be a little easier for the owner, and the Spitz will receive all the necessary vitamins and minerals. However, if the choice is made in favor of such feeds, then they must be of the highest quality.

In addition, you need to know that you need to feed the animals at the same time. Do not overfeed your pets to avoid overweight.

Hygiene

In addition to nutrition, it is important to monitor the hygiene of the Spitz. Since these animals have a rather long coat, it must be looked after. So, once or twice a week you need to brush your pets. In addition, as they become dirty, they need to be bathed. For this, you can apply a special high-quality shampoo, which is intended for long-haired dogs.

Many people also use a fur conditioner.

Since dogs have long coats, mats may appear from time to time. However, you should not pull them out. To do this, it is best to use a special tool that is designed to untangle. It must be applied very carefully to the mat and then combed out.

In addition, it is necessary to trim the dog's fur from time to time. In order for the Spitz not to experience any problems in everyday life, it is advisable to carefully trim the hair near the anus and between the toes.

If you cannot do this procedure yourself, then you need to contact a specialist.

In addition, Pomeranians need to trim their nails regularly. It is imperative to monitor this. After all, if you do not cut them on time, then the dog will not only scratch the parquet - it can harm itself.

It also often happens that White Spitz has watery eyes. In this case, all discharge must be removed with a cotton swab dipped in a special solution or ordinary tea leaves.

In addition, it is necessary to clean your pet's ears from time to time. It is necessary to clean them both outside and inside. If the pet behaves inadequately during such a procedure, then, most likely, he has problems with his ears. In this case, you must contact your veterinarian.

In addition, you need to brush your pets and teeth.After all, if this is not done, then plaque may appear, which will lead to the formation of tartar.

In the future, this is fraught with tooth loss.

Training

White Spitz can easily carry out any commands of their master. However, for this they need to be trained. It is best to start doing this from an early age, so that the Spitz can quickly get used to its owner. To do this, you need to independently not only feed him, but also water him, arrange joint walks, and play.

To raise such a dog, you need to use a simple but time-tested system. First you need to accustom him to the nickname, then to the place. Spitz must know him. To do this, you need to bring him to the rug several times a day and repeat “place”. So he will be able to understand what this particular command means.

In addition, all basic commands must be pronounced in a stern voice, but after the dog has completed them all, you need to praise him in an affectionate voice.

It is imperative to teach the spitz to execute the "fu" command, so that in the future he will carry it out unquestioningly.

If the owner wants never to have problems during walks, then you need to teach him the command "next to". In addition, it is best to teach him to walk on one side only. The dog must have a leash that is fully consistent with its weight and height. The leash can facilitate the execution of commands such as "lie down", "towards me" or "sit".

To begin with, all teams must be consolidated with various delicacies. However, when the little Pomeranian learns them, you can cancel the reward. When raising your pet, you should not combine games with training or regular communication. Training should take place separately, so that the dog is able to distinguish between when they are playing with him, and when they really want him to perform some serious task.

Summing up, we can say that the white Spitz is a unique dog, which can win the love and friendship of any person only by its unusual appearance. In addition, for some people, he is able to become not only a true friend, but also a reason for pride. And if you provide him with decent care and maintenance, then the animal will be able to delight its owners for a long time.

A white Spitz that has spots is called a party. The spots can be of any color and this is not considered a marriage. Even two white dogs can give birth to patics. And this will be the standard color! In the same way, if one of the parents is cream, this does not mean that he will not make white dogs.
