Postcards for March 8 using scrapbooking technique
On the eve of International Women's Day, all men are looking for a gift that can please their beloved women. A wonderful addition to any present will be beautiful postcards made using the scrapbooking technique, made by yourself.
Peculiarities
On March 8, men often give postcards, but usually they buy ready-made versions with a written poem or words of wishes. However, girls are much more pleased to receive a surprise made with their own hands. For such a case, postcards made using the scrapbooking technique are ideal - such a present will definitely not want to redistribute to anyone.
The scrapbooking technique appeared in 1830, and literally translates as "a book made of pieces."
More specifically, it is a book, postcard or album glued together from photographs, clippings from newspapers, letters, magazines, figurines, flowers, colored paper, bows and many other materials available. There is no classification of postcards made using the scrapbooking technique, but they can be divided into two main types.
- Flat. No voluminous figures, flowers and bows. Most often they are not drop-down, but simply double-sided.
- Voluminous. Most often with flowers, numbers, some kind of pattern or a bow. There can be such postcards drop-down or double-sided: the front - the main part, and the back - with the words of congratulations.
Also, postcards can be of a certain shape: triangular, round, oval or in the form of a number. The latter option is often applied to the 8 March holiday, accompanied by spring colors: green and pink, gluing flowers. And as a photo, images of nature or the brightest photographs of a lady are used.
Postcards made using the scrapbooking technique are ideal for preserving important memories and do not limit the donors' imagination.
A common option is a surprise card, when, for example, a master makes a flower of candy on the front side. As a result, the candies are eaten, and the candy wrappers make up the flower on the postcard.
A characteristic feature of scrapbooking is that there are no restrictions in this technique, and you can use any materials at hand. The number of ideas and surprises when creating this gift is also unlimited. One has only to remember that you should not stop at a postcard made using the scrapbooking technique, and it is advisable to present a substantial gift.
Required materials and tools
It is best to use the materials available at home, but sometimes you have to buy something in addition.
To create a classic postcard, we need:
- cardboard, scrapbooking paper, craft or other thick paper;
- colored thin paper;
- stationery knife and scissors;
- PVA glue, pencil or "Moment";
- ruler;
- double-sided or at least regular tape;
- gel pens;
- fabric or paper with a prepared beautiful inscription;
- pictures with your favorite flowers, butterflies and plush toys;
- figurines in the form of hearts, beads and a decorative bow (if not, you can make it out of colored paper).
When choosing materials for creating a postcard, special attention should be paid to the color scheme.
It is necessary that the colors match, the same applies to sticky figures, animals and selected photos.
The contrast will knock out various elements from the composition and the girl will not be able to enjoy the wholeness of the creation created by your hands.
How to do it?
Consider a few simple master classes on creating postcards.
Bilateral
This is the easiest gift option.
Step-by-step instruction.
- According to the color scheme, select the paper that creates the background of the postcard. On the line of two scrap-papers, fix double-sided tape, and glue a pre-prepared ribbon with a fold on it;
- Glue the resulting front part on the cut-out base: cardboard, craft or thick scrap paper of the required size. Glue a flower or other shape to the ribbon along with the cut leaves;
- Attach the prepared inscription: "Happy March 8!" in the form of a rectangle in the lower right corner.
Folding
This option is good because there will be enough space inside the surprise to express all your wishes.
The creation of a postcard looks like this.
- Having decided on the size, cut a blank from the selected paper.
- Attach a ruler to the workpiece and draw along it with the back of a clerical knife, without pressing hard. This will create a fold line. On the prepared base, stick the previously cut scrap paper in strips in the appropriate color scheme. On the right side, glue a strip of lace.
- Cut out the inscription: "March 8", for this you can purchase stamps in advance.
- Glue the inscription to the blank by passing a string through it.
- Butterflies may “fly away” from the inscription, “flowers grow” or ladybugs may “sit” on it. The choice of figures and appliques is always up to the master.
In the lower corner, you can glue a photo of the girl's favorite animal, a button or other volumetric figure.
Thematic
A thematic postcard is more difficult to make, since it will require care and accuracy.
Stages of creation.
- Fold cardboard or thick scrap paper in half and cut out the number 8 so that the figure eight is connected at the bottom of it. In the upper part of the front side, make a hole in the form of a circle;
- On the back, stick a photo of the lady, her favorite animals or memorable places so that they can be seen in this circle. Stick a cute picture on the front at the bottom.
- Add a pre-prepared inscription to the bottom of the postcard.
- On top of the numbers, stick bows, butterflies, gifts, flowers - everything that is available.
In the course of creating a postcard with your own hands, you can add voluminous figures, rhinestones, beads to it. But remember that measure is important in everything. It is also worth considering a few recommendations from professionals:
- it is best to build a composition in advance;
- do not overfill the postcard with many different details;
- try to give volume to the present;
- Use a hair dryer to quickly dry glue, watercolors, and other liquid materials.
A postcard made using the scrapbooking technique can not only become a wonderful and memorable souvenir, but also contribute to the development of creative hobbies in the future. A variety of ideas and an individual approach to creating postcards, photo albums, books and diaries using this technique makes each product unique.
Having mastered scrapbooking, you can give crafts to your relatives and friends for any event and holiday.
