What it is?

First of all, it is worth understanding what a butter slime is. This name is one of the varieties of ordinary slime. Outwardly, the product under consideration is very similar to melted butter. The main feature of Butter Slime is that it can be smeared on almost any smooth surface. However, it will not tear or stick to the base. Such a product is distinguished by its high density, as well as characteristic velvety and soft texture. The specified properties of the slime are given by clay of great softness or plasticine.

How is it different from a fluffy slime?

Some users are interested in how the butter slime differs from the usual and familiar to everyone fluffy slime. The fact is that fluffy is characterized by greater softness, lightness and weightlessness. This slime can be either matte or shiny. Butter slime has a higher level of density. Most often, this option has a matte finish.

Recipes

Butter slime can be easily and quickly made at home with your own hands. To do this, you do not have to purchase expensive components or special chemical additives.Most recipes use simple ingredients that are found in almost every home.

Let's find out several popular ways to make a butter slime on your own.

From plasticine

An excellent butter slime can be made from ordinary plasticine. In addition to this component, the recipe provides for the use of extremely simple and affordable ingredients. Consider what needs to be prepared for making a slime:

  • 60 g shower gel;
  • 170 g PVA glue;
  • 500 ml hot water;
  • 25 ml of boric acid;
  • 5 g of baking soda;
  • any food coloring (you can choose any color).

Consider how to correctly make a slime from the listed components.

  • Prepare a clean and dry container. It is necessary to pour glue solution and shower gel into it. The mass will need to be stirred until it acquires a uniform consistency. Drop a little dye into the mixture, stir again.
  • Take another dish. Combine water and soda in it. Separate 30 ml of this composition, add an adhesive solution to it. After that, you need to send boric acid here. All components must be thoroughly kneaded. The composition should be homogeneous and thick.
  • Take a light plasticine. By volume, this component should be half of the previously formed mass. All ingredients must be mixed, and then worked with the resulting composition with your hands so that the butter slime acquires the required consistency.
  • If at the moment you do not have glue in stock or you do not want to use it, then the slime can be made without it.

From clay

A cool butter slime can be made from clay. We recommend using Soft Clay.

Consider what ingredients you need to make a slime:

  • half a packet of the clay indicated above;
  • 250 g of glue (ordinary PVA glue is suitable);
  • 8 g sodium tetraborate;
  • 2.5 tbsp. l. hand creams;
  • 75 ml of pure water.

Let's figure out the recipe.

  • Place the glue mixture in a clean bowl. Water is also poured here. All components are mixed.
  • You will need to add hand cream to a container with water and glue, and then stir everything again. After that, you should drop sodium tetraborate. The composition must be thoroughly mixed. If the activator has allowed the solution to thicken to the desired level, then no more need to be added. If the composition has not yet thickened, then the specified component is allowed to add a little more.
  • As soon as the mass becomes quite thick, it will need to be kneaded well so that it regains the necessary elasticity, and also does not stick to your hands. You will need to put clay on top of the workpiece, and then knead. When the desired result is achieved, then the process can be completed.

Ready-made butter slime can be used.

No glue

The toy in question can be made without adding glue. Let's find out what components are needed in accordance with this recipe:

  • 2 tbsp. l. shampoo;
  • 3 tbsp. l. starch;
  • dye (this component is optional);
  • 1 tsp baby oil;
  • clean and dry container, a spatula for mixing the composition.

Now let's look at the features of making a butter slime without glue.

  • The first step is to mix the baby oil and shampoo. Starch should be added to these components, and then all the components should be mixed again.
  • If you decide to use a dye, then you will need to inject it when preparing a mass of oil and shampoo. You will need to do a little work with your hands to get a pretty good slime.
  • If you add a brown dye to the composition, then its consistency will resemble chocolate paste. With such a little thing, you can play your friends in an original way.

The main thing is to warn them in time about the origin of the "chocolate mass" before they have time to taste it.

Shaving foam

If you make a slime with the addition of shaving foam, then it will turn out to be very light, airy and plastic. Let's find out what ingredients are needed to make such a homemade product:

  • 14 Art. l. shaving foam;
  • 330 ml PVA glue;
  • 6 tbsp. l. sodium tetraborate;
  • 4 tbsp. l. hand creams;
  • 40 g of plasticine.

You need to make a butter slime according to the scheme.

  • It is necessary to take a container of sufficient depth, send an adhesive solution into it, as well as hand cream. The components must be mixed well. Now you should add foam to them, and then mix the components again.
  • It remains to pour in tetraborate in small portions. At this time, it is necessary to monitor whether the mixture thickens well. If not enough, then you can add a little more tetraborate.
  • The mixture must be kneaded by hand. If it still sticks to your hands, you can add a little baking soda to it. All that remains is to place plasticine on all the components, and then stir again.

From shampoo and starch

Consider how else you can make a slime using starch and shampoo. This requires the following components:

  • a clean cup of sufficient depth;
  • PVA glue - 250 ml;
  • shaving foam - 120 g;
  • corn or potato starch - 120 g;
  • hand cream - 75 ml;
  • thick shampoo - 75 ml;
  • any dye to choose from;
  • sodium tetraborate - 1 package;
  • air plasticine.

Butter slime can be made very easily from these components.

  • PVA glue is poured into the prepared container. After that, add more shaving foam to make the mass lighter and more airy.
  • It is advisable to use baby powder. Without adding this component, it will turn out to be not a butter, but a regular fluffy.
  • Further, starch is poured to the previous components. Its amount should correspond to the amount of powder - 1 to 1. All components should be mixed.
  • Next, hand cream is added, followed by shampoo in the same volume. After that, you can add some decorations to the mixture, for example, glitter or dye. Tetraborate should be added in an amount of 6 drops. All components must be thoroughly kneaded.
  • After kneading, the mixture must be kneaded in your hands. So the homemade product will acquire the desired structure.

How to do it?

Butter slime is made not only from the components listed above. There are many other recipes that use different ingredients. In addition, such a slime is often made without a thickener at all. Let's consider how exactly the butter slime is made correctly, regardless of the components used.

  • For cooking, be sure to take clean and absolutely dry dishes.
  • Most often, liquid ingredients such as shower gel, cream or shampoo are added first. These ingredients must be mixed well, but only with a spatula or spoon. A mixer will not work for this.
  • After thorough mixing, tetraborate is added to the composition or starch is poured. All components must be mixed again. At the same stage, you can decorate the homemade product, supplementing its composition with any decorations: sparkles, dyes, and so on.
  • At the end of the procedure, the mixture is kneaded again, and then crumpled in the hands.

To make a butter slime at home, you can use a variety of recipes. Manufacturing schemes may differ somewhat from the above. It all depends on what specific components are involved.

Possible problems

There may be some problems when making or using a butter slime. Let's find out more about them.

If torn

Slime can break if:

  • not stored according to the rules;
  • some components are not enough;
  • there are too many specks in the slime.

If there is little glue in the product, you can add a little more. If the matter is in specks, then the slime is heated in the microwave for 1 minute, and then the excess inclusions are removed from it with tweezers. Then the toy is sent to the refrigerator shelf for 15–20 minutes.

If the slime was stored incorrectly, then it must be dipped in water, stirred, pulled out, and then filled with soda.

If dry

More often than not, butter slime dries out due to poor storage. There are several ways to soften a thing.

  • You can add a little liquid and interfere with the product.
  • You can dilute the composition with body lotion or a special antibacterial gel.
  • If the slime contains glue, then it is permissible to add 1 more tbsp. l. of this component.
  • It will be possible to soften the slime by warming up. To do this, the product is sent to hot liquid for a minute or heated in the microwave for 10 seconds.

If it does not thicken

As a rule, butter slime does not thicken for the following reasons:

  • ingredients that have expired have been used;
  • components of a different consistency were added to the composition;
  • the order of actions when creating a toy is violated;
  • proportions were not respected.

In order for the product to be quite thick, only fresh ingredients of a suitable consistency should be used. It is important to stick to the correct proportions.

Storage rules

Let's figure out the basic rules for storing butter slime.

  • The toy must be in an airtight jar or container. The lid must always be tightly closed.
  • You need to play with slime more often or knead it for at least 2-3 minutes a day.
  • Slime should not be left in warm places. It is recommended to place it in a refrigerator or other cool place.
