How to make slime without glue and thickener?
Why has the world changed so much in recent years? Modern children cannot be dragged out of the house onto the street by their ears. Even snow or warm summer days do not become a reason for general games in the yard or on a special area. And - what a paradox! - Children are bored at home too. Of course, this is if parents are forbidden to sit in phones, tablets or laptops for days. And then the search begins for activities that could fill the free time that has appeared. One of them is the production and pressing of slimes.
Foam manufacturing
Slime is a toy so ungrateful that it absolutely does not justify its value. The purchased slime after half an hour of playing with it loses its original appearance and texture, and the child loses interest in him. After that, the slime settles somewhere on the upholstery of the sofa, in a box with toys or even in a baby's pocket, and after a while it can only be thrown away together with the object to which it is stuck. In order to be able to control the quality of the slime and reduce the cost of its appearance in the house, modern children and their parents prefer to make such toys on their own. Moreover, there are a great many recipes for making slimes.
Especially popular is the method of making a safe slime, in the process of using which the baby's health, his things, as well as carpets and furniture upholstery in the house remain unharmed. This is a slime without PVA glue and without chemical thickening components, which will be discussed below.
When starting to make a slime, you need to adhere to some safety measures.
- Children should only be supervised to make slimes.Nobody knows how the skin or the respiratory tract will react to the ingredients that will be added, so parental control is a must.
- Do not use metal containers to mix the components. They can oxidize and ruin everything.
- Use only disposable gloves. Chemical reactions that occur during the preparation of slime can cause allergies on the skin of the hands and even burns.
- You should have unhindered access to running water so that you can quickly wash your hands or other body parts in an emergency.
- Work in an apron - it will protect your clothes from dirt, which will be quite difficult to clean.
- In the grip you should have a measuring cup and a plastic spatula for mixing the components. Try not to stir the liquid with your hands.
- After preparing the slime, be sure to wash your hands with soap, remove from the table everything that you used in the cooking process, wash the dishes thoroughly, wipe the table clean.
The most common way to make hand gum at home is shaving foam slime. Let's start with it:
- add about 1 cup of shaving foam to a plastic or glass container;
- with a tablespoon, one at a time, add starch here;
- mix after each spoon and check the mixture for consistency;
- when the slime can be wrinkled with your hands, they stop adding starch and knead the finished toy.
Toothpaste slime
To make slime according to the classic recipe, you will need:
- 1 tube of toothpaste
- food coloring (liquid).
Algorithm of actions:
- squeeze toothpaste into a cup (the whole tube as a whole), pour in the dye, stir;
- heat the mass in a water bath for 15 minutes, stirring constantly;
- when you see that the mixture has thickened, smear your hands with any oil (olive, sunflower) and crease the slime for 5-10 minutes until they reach elasticity and ductility.
Other simple recipes
Of flour
Making hand gum is so interesting that it lures not only children, but also adults into its nets. Everyone wants to watch something emerge out of nothing. And by taking part in this, you become a real wizard.
The simplest way to make a glueless slime is a recipe with flour. Such a slime turns out to be safe, but it will not work for a long time - it dries up quickly. In order to get such an anti-stress, you need to do the following:
- prepare an appropriate deep container with a capacity of about 2 liters;
- sift about 300 grams of flour into it on a fine sieve;
- add 50 grams of water to the flour, only cold;
- mix everything well;
- so that the slime takes on color, another 50 milliliters of water is heated to a hot temperature, food coloring is added to it, and again everything is stirred for a long time, bringing the mass to an elastic state.
When the kneading process is over, the resulting lump is wrapped in plastic wrap and placed in the refrigerator. Let it lie there for at least an hour until it cools and thickens. After that, you can start using the resulting toy.
From cream
In order for the slime to last longer and be as safe for the child as the previous version, it can be made from hand cream. This recipe also contains no glue or tetraborate, so nothing threatens the health of your child. However, pay attention to whether the glue has expired, and also that it is not too rare and does not have a sharp, unpleasant smell for the child.
Stages of cooking toys:
- we take a container with a volume of more than 1 liter made of plastic, glass or ceramics (keep in mind that children are not recommended to use glass or ceramic dishes without adults);
- squeeze all the cream into the container from the tube;
- add 1 teaspoon of baking soda there;
- if desired, to make the slime more beautiful, add glitter or food coloring to it;
- thoroughly, for at least 5 minutes with a kitchen spatula, mix the contents of our container;
- making sure that the resulting mass has a uniform texture and even color, put it on a cling film, wrap it in it and send it to the refrigerator shelf for 2 hours, until it solidifies.
After a couple of hours, we unfold the film and check it. If the slime has become stringy and soft, then it can already be used. If not, then the mass must be left in the refrigerator until that moment.
From shampoo
You may not believe it, but there are a lot of tools in your home from which you can make an anti-stress slime. A regular shampoo is also suitable for this, only thick. The advantage of such a slime is that it can be prepared as soon as such an idea arises. After all, the components that are needed for it are available in every home.
The sequence of actions is as follows:
- prepare a form with a capacity of 1 liter, wipe it dry;
- about 100 ml of thick shampoo is poured into the same dish;
- if there is a desire to add sparkles, then this must be done at this stage, after which the mixture should be thoroughly mixed;
- gradually add salt, preferably fine, to the resulting mass;
- while mixing the components, salt is added little by little, making sure that the mass becomes viscous - it should turn into a kind of bun;
- after the shampoo stops absorbing salt, it is no longer added, but the contents of the container are thoroughly mixed;
- the container with the resulting slime is placed in the refrigerator for several hours, until the slime hardens.
If you see that the mass did not freeze, but floated, you need to add more salt to it, mix it again and keep it in the cold for a couple of hours. Once the hand gum has become elastic and pliable, you can use it, but until it warms up and softens in your hands. Then you need to put it in the refrigerator again and wait a few hours.
From starch
A safer and more reliable option is to make slime using starch. Such a slime will not quickly lose its shape, will not dry out and will not tear. Children love to use this recipe because it is difficult to spoil it, and one pack of starch is enough for them for several slimes. You can take any starch you can find in your home or store, be it wheat, corn or potato. The sequence of adding the ingredients is as follows:
- we take any detergent that can be found at home: shampoo, dishwashing detergent, liquid hand soap or shower gel and pour it into a prepared container in the amount of 1 tablespoon;
- if possible, add food coloring of the desired color;
- sequins, if any, can also be added if desired;
- we collect 1 tablespoon of starch from the pack and pour it into our slime;
- mix thoroughly, check how thick the gum is.
If the slime sticks to your hands, you need to add more starch, and just enough to get rid of the stickiness. You should not send the mixture to the refrigerator. You can use it immediately after preparation. Such a slime is called fluffy, which translated from English means fluffy.
With soda
There are a huge number of both recipes for making slimes and ready-made chewing gum. They can be transparent, and similar to marshmallows, and gel. Their filling is also different. Glitter, foam balls, small toys, confetti, beads can be added to the mixture.
Let's try to make a slime without glue and activator from soda:
- take a 200-gram glass and pour half of warm water into it;
- we throw in there 2 pinches or half a teaspoon of salt, as well as a teaspoon of sugar;
- we leave the glass on the table;
- we take a container already well known to us and wipe it dry;
- pour 5 grams of soda (about 1 teaspoon) and 45-50 ml (half a hundred-gram tube) of toothpaste into it;
- put the mixture in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes;
- take it out of the refrigerator and add half of the prepared glass with salt and sugar;
- Mix everything well and leave for another 15-20 minutes to thicken.
After the cooked mass has thickened, it is kneaded to an elastic state and sparkles are added.
Brilliant
Among other slime recipes that you can cook at home, there are simple and complex ones. One of the most difficult connoisseurs of slime movement is the preparation of a shiny transparent slime.
Even the approach to completing the task is slightly different from the rest. Before proceeding to the cooking process, you need to prepare the workplace so that nothing accidentally gets into the slime. Otherwise, you will not achieve the desired result. Also, be patient as the process will be more complicated than the previous ones.
- We check if there is a colorless shampoo and gel toothpaste in the house. We cannot do without them.
- We free up the workplace by removing all unnecessary items from the table.
- We take the deep, clean and dry container we like and put it on the table.
- Pour in 2 tablespoons of shampoo and 4 tablespoons of toothpaste, mix and send the bowl with the mixture to the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, pour a full glass of warm water and stir one teaspoon of salt in it. This solution is also sent to the refrigerator on the shelf.
- After 30 minutes, we take everything out of the refrigerator, pour the liquid from the glass into the container with the slime, cover the top of the container with cling film and put it in the refrigerator for another hour.
- An hour later we take out the slime, knead it until the desired texture and color is obtained, use it.
If the slime begins to fade, lose its elastic texture or firmness, it must be placed again in the same saline solution for 1 hour, and then thoroughly mixed.
Children call this slime soft glass. If you add a lot of small sequins to it, then it will just be shiny.
From plasticine
If there are no detergents at hand, then the slime can also be made from ordinary children's plasticine. The main thing is that there is also gelatin and ordinary water in the house. To prepare such a slime, we do the following:
- pour 15 grams of gelatin into a deep cup;
- pour 200 milliliters of warm water here;
- you do not need to stir anything: just leave the container with the contents for 1 hour so that the gelatin swells;
- after an hour, put the bowl in the microwave: select a time of 6-7 minutes and the lowest temperature setting that you have on a microwave oven;
- let the mass cool to a pleasant, warm temperature;
- mash 5 strips of plasticine and add 50 ml of water;
- add filler if desired;
- combine everything with gelatin and mix thoroughly.
You need to stir such a slime exclusively with your hands. This is the only way you can achieve the desired result.
Recommendations
There are a few tips for anyone who regularly deals with slimes to know.
- To get the right slime you are preparing, be sure to stick to the recipe and do not change the sequence of the task.
- Strictly adhere to the proportions of the ingredients.
- Shower gels, toothpastes, and other detergents should be thick.
- If you want a light and airy slime, you can add a little hydrogen peroxide to it. But you can do this together with adults. Rough handling of peroxide can harm health or damage to objects.
- If the slime is not slippery enough, add some glycerin or greasy hand cream to it.
- Do not add too much filler to the slime when making it. It might ruin it.
- If after cooking the slime does not work out, try adding more ingredients. If the slime is too liquid, add a thickener, if tight - water.
- To make your slime last as long as possible, store it in a hermetically sealed container. It can be a jar with a lid or a regular plastic bag.
- Try not to drop the slime on the floor or other surfaces.The smallest particles of dust, debris or dirt adhere to it, and it loses its elasticity. You can no longer restore it.
- Do not play with slime on fluffy surfaces.
- Be sure to wash your hands before and after playing with the slime, whether you made it yourself or bought it from the store. When playing or preparing the slime, do not touch your face with your hands, especially your eyes, nose and mouth.
- If you are making a slime based on glue or sodium tetraborate, do not take utensils from the kitchen that is used for food.
- If the slime starts to dry out, add a little water to the jar where it is stored.
