Making slimes with balls
Slimes with balls inside have an excellent calming effect and develop fine motor skills in children. It is very easy to make such a toy at home. You just need to choose the right recipe for yourself and stock up on the necessary ingredients and beautiful balls.
Which balls are suitable?
When creating slimes, small foam balls are usually used. You can buy them in specialized stores or on the Internet. When choosing such balls for slimes, it is worth paying attention to several points.
-
The size. In order for the balls to be reliably fixed in the plastic mass, it is worth choosing products with a diameter of 0.4 to 3 mm. Large and small parts can be combined in one toy.
-
Colour. Both white and colored balls are suitable for decorating slime. As a rule, they are selected, focusing on the color in which the slime is made. To decorate one toy, you can use both solid and colored balls.
-
The form. Most slime balls have a classic round shape. But there are also oval products. For small children, you can make toys with balls of different shapes. This will allow the child to develop fine motor skills quickly.
You can also use available tools to create slimes. For example, polystyrene, which is usually placed in boxes from under equipment or furniture. It only needs to be carefully crumbled into small parts and remove excess debris.
And also fillers from unnecessary toys can be used to create pleasantly crispy slimes.
Some craftsmen paint them using food dyes, gouache or acrylic. After such processing, the balls look just as beautiful as the purchased ones.
Step-by-step instruction
Making a slime with your own hands is very simple. You just need to choose the right recipe and follow the instructions.
Slime with stationery glue and shaving foam
This is one of the most popular recipes. It has been tested by many slimers. To create a toy with balls, you will need the following components:
-
100 grams of silicone glue;
-
200 ml thick shaving foam;
-
20 ml of any liquid soap;
-
white or multi-colored balls;
-
sodium tetraborate.
Let's consider a cooking method.
-
Pour glue into glass or plastic dishes, after which soap must be added there. If the mixture is too thick, add a little water to it.
-
Next, you need to carefully pour the foam into the container, while stirring the contents until the mixture becomes homogeneous.
-
Add sodium tetraborate to the bowl to make the slime thicker and more elastic. Pour it into a container with slime, one drop at a time, in order to control how thick the slime turns out.
-
When the mixture thickens a little, you need to add foam balls to it.
The prepared slime must be placed in a container and then placed in a cold place.
To make it last longer, you need to play with it regularly.
Slime with starch
In this recipe, the starch acts as a thickener. However, in order for the toy to turn out to be elastic, you will need to strictly observe the proportions. If you add too much starch, the slime will be too thick and tear frequently. To prepare slime, you need to prepare the following components:
-
30-40 grams of starch;
-
1/3 of a glass of clean water;
-
dye of the desired color;
-
100 ml of glue;
-
balls (foam or polystyrene).
Slime preparation consists of a number of steps.
-
Pour glue into an enamel or glass container. You can also add any color dye at this stage. You can use both purchased paints and a natural product.
-
The starch must be mixed with water, and pour this mass into the glue in a thin stream. Mix the contents of the bowl until the mixture thickens. If this does not happen, it is worth adding a little more liquid starch.
-
Finally, add foam balls to the bowl.
The finished slime can be taken out of the bowl and used to play. If done correctly, it will be soft, elastic and will not stick to your hands.
Slime with borax
This recipe practically does not differ from the classic one. The finished slime turns out to be thick and elastic. To prepare soft quality slime, you will need the following components:
-
1/2 tsp borax;
-
dye;
-
1 cup styrofoam balls
-
100 ml of silicone glue;
-
water.
Cooking method:
-
glue must be squeezed into a previously prepared dish, and dye must also be added there;
-
then pour colored balls of the required size into this mixture;
-
now it is necessary to carefully pour borax into the contents;
-
so that the slime is not too dense, add a little water to the bowl.
When the slime is thick and dense enough, you can take it out of the bowl and knead it with your hands. You can use handgam to play immediately after cooking.
With PVA glue
The addition of simple PVA glue makes the slime as elastic as possible. To create it, in addition to a bottle of glue, you need to prepare the following ingredients:
-
20-30 grams of shampoo;
-
150 ml shaving foam;
-
3-4 drops of thickener.
The preparation method includes several points.
-
Pour a bottle of glue and shampoo into the container. All this must be thoroughly mixed. If the mixture is too thick, you need to add a little water there.
-
Next, gently drive shaving foam into the contents, and mix everything again. The result should be a thick mixture.
-
To get a soft and stringy slime, everything needs to be sealed with a thickener.
-
At the end of all the preparatory work, foam balls are added to the bowl, and the mixture is mixed again.
To make this slime glossy, you can add a little sugar to the base.
After cooking, the toy should be left in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
With drops for contact lenses
Dense and elastic slime can be obtained using the following ingredients:
-
2 bottles of PVA glue;
-
2 tsp baking soda;
-
2 tsp drops for lenses;
-
1 cup polystyrene balls
-
dye.
Cooking method:
-
in a pre-prepared dish, it is necessary to mix baking soda, a few drops of dye and PVA glue;
-
then you need to add drops there, stir everything until the mixture becomes thick;
-
the resulting slime must be kneaded well with your hands to make sure that it is soft and elastic enough.
The finished slime should not stick to your hands.
With toothpaste
This toy is also easy to make at home. To create it, you will need the following components:
-
100 ml of clear glue;
-
2 tsp water;
-
1 tsp shower gel;
-
2-3 centimeters of toothpaste;
-
1 cup of balls
-
sodium tetraborate.
If everything is ready, you can start making the slime.
-
In an enamel or glass container, mix glue, shower gel, regular toothpaste and greasy hand cream. The mass should be thick and fragrant.
-
Add a few drops of a thickener to such a homogeneous mixture. The process should be carefully monitored. If there is too much of it, the slime will be too dense and tear.
-
Next, you need to add balls to the mixture.
-
It is necessary to stir the contents until the slime is dense enough.
The resulting slime can be taken out of the bowl and kneaded to the desired state.
Storage rules
To increase the lifespan of a slime, it must be properly stored and used.
-
The container with the slime should be tightly closed with a lid and hidden from direct sunlight. It is best to keep this slime in the refrigerator.
-
Do not place a container with a slime next to the battery. This will lead to the fact that it starts to stick to your hands or melts altogether. In addition, it cannot be stored in the freezer.
-
To prevent the slime from getting dirty, you should always wash your hands before playing. If you still see dust or lint in it, you can rinse it under running water.
Home-made crispy slimes practically do not differ from purchased ones. Both adolescents and small children can make them on their own.
