What are slip-ons?

Most of all, they resemble sneakers, but they do not have laces, but are worn on the leg with the help of two elastic inserts. Have a fairly thick solid rubber sole without a heel.

The upper part of the classic slip-on sneakers in heavy cotton fabric. True, today, on the basis of this model, slip-ons with a leather top, slip-ons on a platform, slip-ons with metallic inserts on the nose are produced. Every year, new trends and trends in shoe fashion are brought into their design.

This shoe was originally designed by Stuart Vance for surfing. Vance aimed to create lightweight, comfortable shoes that would be easy to remove and dry quickly. And since the sneakers clung to the board with their laces, sneakers without laces appeared - slip-ons.

Black and white check is considered the classic color of Vans slip-on sneakers, although this graphic pattern still does not lose its popularity.

Almost 50 years have passed since the creation of slip-ons, and now the moment has come when they triumphantly return to street fashion. During this time, the company made a serious rebranding, and instead of bright shoes for skaters, now the collection has lightweight slip-ons with improved shock absorption, and even slip-ons made of heat-resistant fabric for the spring-autumn season.

Characteristic of slip-ons

  1. The knitted top layer makes the slip-on sneakers lightweight and soft.
  2. They have excellent cushioning and a comfortable sole.
  3. They allow air to pass through - they are not hot in summer.
  4. Thanks to the elastic inserts, slip-ons are easy to take off and put on.
  5. Slip-ons are easy to clean - machine washable.
  6. Low price compared to leather shoes.
  7. Bright and stylish colors.

What is the difference between slip-ons and loafers?

More and more shoe models are appearing on the market today. Some have a similar appearance and differ only in details, and some, although outwardly not similar, have consonant names. Let's deal with all of them in order and find out what distinguishes some types of fashionable shoes from others.

The difference between loafers and slip-ons is, firstly, that they are made of leather or leatherette. Secondly, the main highlight of loafers is the leather tassels on the toe as decoration.

Sometimes the tassels are replaced with a wide decorative lintel. Classic loafers also differ from slip-ons by the presence of a small heel and the absence of elastic bands that make it easier to put on shoes.

Sleepers and slip-ons - the difference

What are sleepers? And how not to confuse them with slip-ons? Sleepers are descended from the slippers of the English lords. Therefore, they are most often made of velvet, satin or suede.

Soft, graceful, light, they are mostly decorated with embroidery, rhinestones, appliques. They have a rather pronounced one-piece tongue and a thin flexible sole with a small heel.

Sleepers are not sporty. And although phonetically and in terms of characteristics, they are similar to slip-ons, you will definitely not confuse them in a store.

How do slip-ons differ from other shoes?

Slip-ons are most like espadrilles. They are united by a dense cotton upper, a one-piece flat sole, lightness and informal style.

The only noticeable difference is that espadrilles have a jute rather than rubber sole. And they can have a variety of fasteners, straps, and an open toe or heel.

Sneakers, as the ancestors of slip-ons, are very similar to them - the top layer is made of fabric and a thick rubber sole without a heel, but differ only in the presence of laces.

Loafers and slip-ons are united, perhaps, only by the softness and comfort of both models. Moccasins are made only of leather or leatherette, their main distinguishing feature is the decorative seam on the toe. They can be decorated with tassels, like loafers, have decorative lintels or metal buckles, or they can have a laconic design.

Topsiders differ from all other models in that a decorative lace is threaded along the contour, which is tied in front. Classic topside models have a white grooved sole.

Only sporty style unites sneakers and slip-ons. Outwardly, these two models cannot be confused. After all, sneakers are voluminous high sneakers with laces or Velcro, often on a wedge.

What to wear with slip-ons?

Slip-ons can be easily and effectively combined with almost all casual clothing.

Most often they are worn with jeans. It is worth choosing cropped jeans or jeans with a turn to flirtatiously expose the ankles, and thereby emphasize the grace of the figure. To enhance this effect, you can choose boyfriend jeans.

Interesting sets can be obtained by combining slip-ons with trousers, whether they are skinny trousers, leather trousers or joggers. Below are the looks combined with leopard print slip-ons. Today it is one of the most popular prints of women's slip-on models.

Whichever summer jumpsuit you choose - a bright summer, classic denim or jersey military style jumpsuit - slip-ons will be the perfect finish to your bow.

This year, the trend is becoming more and more popular - to combine dresses and skirts with sports shoes, be it sneakers, sneakers or slip-ons. It is somewhat easier to create stylish ensembles with slip-ons, since they are devoid of excessive volume, and the colors can be chosen quite feminine and elegant.

We recommend matching with slip-ons:

  • casual shirt dresses;
  • laconic basic T-shirt dresses;
  • A-line dresses with a graphic besides.

Slip-ons also look relevant in combination with mini-skirts in bright colors or with a small print.Slip-on sneakers with a midi skirt or even maxi will definitely set you apart from the crowd and attract attention, this option is for the most daring and stylish.

Slip-ons with shorts will be relevant on vacation, because you can walk on the sand and stroll along the embankment in them, you can wear them to a party to dance until the morning, and if you wish, splash in the waves without taking off your shoes. After all, they will not deteriorate from water!

Shorts should be chosen short or medium length, but their style can be different. Suitable as elegant wide black shorts, and ripped, frayed from jeans, or delicate lace pastel shades.
