Decorative dogs with a fighting character, French Bulldogs, are very popular in Russia and abroad. Adorable pets combine courage and dedication. Their colors are quite varied.

White French Bulldogs are extremely rare, which attracts the attention of dog breeders from all over the world.

Features of the breed

The ancestors of the "French" were considered molossi - dogs, from which all mastiff-like descended. Historically, the first bulldogs were bred in medieval England. Brave dogs with an "iron" grip were used to bait cattle. The ancestors of the "French" were larger and more resilient. Officially, this breed originated in the 19th century.

According to one hypothesis, miniature pets were brought to France from England. However, French breeders claim that the adorable dogs were bred in their land. This breed instantly won the love and respect of the locals. Brave pets became excellent rat-catchers and appeared in almost every working family. The "French" arrived in Russia at the beginning of the 20th century and acted as a fashionable "accessory" for the intelligentsia.

Today adorable dogs are very popular with breeders of all ages and social status.

Description

Despite their diminutive size, French Bulldogs are strong and resilient dogs. The characteristic features of the breed include the following:

  • stocky, muscular torso;
  • short powerful limbs;
  • wide chest;
  • massive square head;
  • "Flattened" muzzle with symmetrical folds;
  • upturned nose;
  • expressive eyes;
  • thick short tail;
  • well developed jaw;
  • protruding ears that have the shape of a "bat";
  • smooth shiny coat.

An adult "Frenchman" grows up to 35 cm. Males, as a rule, are larger than females. Pets live 10-12 years. French Bulldog puppies are born blind and deaf. The traits of an adult dog begin to appear from 4-6 months.

And also at this age, the color is formed - the animal's fur acquires a rich shade.

Advantages and disadvantages

According to the breed standard, the pet can be brindle, fawn and spotted. One of the rarest colors is white. It is only allowed if the edging of the nose, eyelids and lips is black. "Frenchmen" with snow-white fur are allowed to participate in exhibitions and competitions. And also dogs are referred to white colors, on the fur coat of which there are 1 or 2 dark spots.

White French Bulldogs look very impressive. Adorable white-coated pets have a number of benefits. For example, a snow-white bulldog is quite rare, so it will undoubtedly attract admiring glances from others. In addition, a light-colored pet is quite noticeable and will not get lost on a walk. White French Bulldogs (standard fit) enjoy immense success at shows and achieve excellent results in competition. Experts say that representatives of the white color are distinguished by excellent health.

However, a number of disadvantages of "snowballs" are still present. These include the following nuances:

  • light wool gets dirty quickly and requires careful maintenance;
  • dogs with white fur can have genetic diseases;
  • some individuals with blue eyes (albinos) suffer from congenital deafness;
  • with age, snow-white wool takes on a yellowish tint;
  • “Frenchmen” with white wool should not eat foods that contribute to color change (pumpkin, carrots and beets);
  • bulldogs of this color are rare, therefore their cost is quite high.

Important! Other colors that do not fit the standard (black, blue, white-blue, brown and tricolor) are considered defective.

Character and upbringing

The "French" have the features of fighting dogs and at the same time they are peace-loving animals. They get along well with children and are dedicated to serving adult owners. From the first days of their appearance in the house, adorable kids begin to study the world around them and can taste pieces of furniture and shoes. Raising a puppy should be done from a "tender" age. The psyche of French Bulldogs is stable. However, do not leave your pet alone for a long time.

"French" love attention and do not tolerate separation from the owner. It's a lot of stress for dogs. Bulldogs memorize commands rather slowly, so the breeder needs to show perseverance and patience. With the right approach, a miniature pet will quickly get used to the place, learn to relieve himself outside the apartment and stop spoiling things. Representatives of this breed are loyal friends and excellent companions.

Care rules

The French Bulldog is ideal for keeping in a city apartment - it does not require a lot of space. The pet bed must be made of natural materials. Place it in a warm, dry place. Bulldogs cannot stand drafts and catch colds easily. The pet's sleeping place should not be in the sleeping room or children's room, since due to the physiological characteristics of the nasopharynx, the pet snores during sleep.

White French Bulldogs require careful grooming. The pet must be combed out and washed regularly. In order for the dog's fur to have a rich shiny shade, the breeder needs to purchase special shampoos and lotions. The folds on the bulldog's face require special attention (sweat and dust accumulate in them). They must be wiped with wet wipes and cotton pads.

It is enough to clean the auricles 1-2 times a month. If suspicious discharge and an unpleasant odor appear, the pet should be immediately shown to the veterinarian. The "French" are not squeamish and like to pick up various items on the street. This "hobby" threatens with dental problems. Careful control of the pet's oral cavity is important.

Walking with the bulldog is quite calm. The animal is not distinguished by increased activity. In the heat and severe frosts, it is better not to walk the "Frenchmen".

In representatives of this breed, the function of thermoregulation is difficult.
