Corgi is the most beautiful breed native to the United Kingdom. Always a friendly face, docile nature and some resemblance to terriers due to short legs made these dogs one of the favorites among breeders.

History of the breed

It is very difficult to determine the exact date when these mestizo arose, but many believe that these dogs have been among people for many centuries. There are a great many variants of origin - from mythical to historical. Translated from the Welsh language, the breed means "dwarf dog". Almost always, these dogs lived only on English soil, but at the end of the 19th century, when dogs began to be brought to other lands, mestizo corgi were officially recognized, they were allowed to participate in exhibitions and competitions.

Now "chanterelles" are gaining popularity in American territories, in Europe and clearly plan to conquer the whole world.

The nature of the dogs

Mestizo dogs are always good-natured and loyal. They take the best features from both parents and become "ideal dogs" - smart, cheerful, protective of the owner and his family. They are inherent in innate intelligence and complaisance. They are not hostile with strangers, but also not particularly open.

This dog is ideal for busy people: it does not beg for games and attention, it can calmly do without the company of its owners for a long time, and is not offended at the same time.

Corgi mestizo get along well with other pets living with them under the same roof. They perfectly adapt to different climates and can live both outside the city and in the "stone jungle".

Despite its small size, the dog eats well and even tends to be overweight. You should always control the amount of food consumed by your pet, and not react when the dog begs for treats.

Corgis are very compassionate, they catch even the most subtle notes of the owners' mood and always try to support if you are inclined to it. If not, they will not impose themselves, but will “experience the storm,” and will only come up when they feel that you really want it.

Mestizo corgi are quiet dogs, they rarely bark, more often they just howl.

They do not cause unnecessary trouble, but they make the life of the breeders much happier.

Varieties of hybrids

Dogs are often compared to the fennec fox - a miniature chanterelle of an unusual appearance. But not because of the ears, but because of the muzzle and the expression on it. Mestizos are very beautiful, their ears are standing, their eyes betray intelligence, and their nose is black and wet. They do not grow more than 30-35 cm. The Welsh Corgi are distinguished - the Welsh Corgi Cardigan and the Welsh Corgi Pembroke. Cardigans are larger and calmer, while Pembrokes are very agile and energetic.

Mestizos, regardless of who the cross is with, are obtained with a short undercoat and a different coat color. Because of hybrids, you can most often find tricolors and other extraordinary color variations.

Corgi and Husky

With such a cross, the dog has short legs, therefore, small stature. The size of the head remains the same, as does the structure of the body. The color and shape of the ears is acquired from the husky. The tail will be the same, in the form of a saber, and the coat is also inherited from the husky. Emotionally, these dogs will be attached to their owners, obedient and loyal. They are very bold and agile, but at the same time restrained in character.

These mestizo are very beautiful already because the husky is one of the parents.

Corgi and dachshund

Queen Elizabeth II wanted to cross these two dogs to get a "designer novelty". The result is a very unusual mestizo that grows more in length, like dachshunds, with erect ears and light color, like corgi. The dogs turned out with a very impudent, fearless character, ready for trials and adventures. They demand movement and simply refuse to sit still. Raising them is not the easiest thing, and you need to start from the moment when they are puppies in order to have authority in their eyes. They excel in hunting and herding.

Corgi and Shepherd

Such a cross brings the dogs closer to the shepherd dog, increasing the resulting mestizo in size, but still, as if "not reaching" the full size of the shepherd. This breed absorbs all the best features of shepherd dogs, and many consider these mestizos to be the smartest of all other crosses.

Corgi and Spitz

Real cuties are mestizo corgi with spitz. Like fluffy chanterelles, they have the same cute, friendly character, playfulness and curiosity are inherent in them. They have well-developed guard instincts and a sense of responsibility for the safety of the owners.

The ears of the mestizo are, the tail turns out, like that of the Spitz, and the amount of the well-known "Pomeranian fluff" depends on which side the half-breed will have a bias in at birth.

Corgi and chihuahua

Even smaller mestizos from already small parents. The dog can come out with long or short hair with pleasant smoothness. The legs will be from a corgi, and not a timid character from a Mexican parent. They are very selective in their tastes, and many problems can arise with food, since the dog will refuse a lot. These are very brave mestizos, often rushing into battle for no good reason.

But with the owners they are always nice and accommodating. Many do not like the character of Chihuahuas for some pomp and pretentiousness, but their mixed puppies are not as cocky as their parents, and in this they take more from the corgi.

Nowadays it has become much more popular to start a mix, rather than pure breed dogs. It is considered trendy and exotic. However, remember that corgis are not simple mestizos, their parents are terriers of all possible species, and it is not recommended to take options for crossing with a husky and a shepherd dog, if you are not ready to pay special attention to the health of the resulting puppies. They are often sick and have various medical "points" that can never be ignored if you want to have a healthy pet.

Corgis should not be mixed with terriers, and such dogs should not be purchased. So mestizos do not improve as a breed, but seem to be going backwards in a very unhealthy way (remember who the corgi's parents are).

Always buy a future friend from real, experienced breeders, be sure to ask for documents, find out everything about the puppy's parents. It doesn't matter if the parent is a purebred breed or a mongrel, it is important for you to know everything about what kind of mestizo you are in order to provide him with proper care and nutrition.

Whichever cross you prefer, you will gain a faithful friend who makes your life more meaningful and brighter.
