There is another type of luminous collars made using special materials that reflect the light falling on them - they are equipped with reflective tapes along the edge. Such a collar will not help you find your dog in the dark, but it can save you from being hit by a car.

When choosing such a collar, it is necessary to be guided by a number of important criteria.

• Type of food. Many of these accessories are battery operated, but some models do not provide battery replacement and are disposable collars. Collars with USB charging are the most practical, because used batteries must be handed over to special collection points for recycling and you must constantly buy new ones.
• Charge retention time: from 30 minutes to several hours.
• Waterproof. A special coating allows you to use the accessory in the rain and when swimming in any water.
• Size adjustment... Not provided in all models, then it becomes necessary to select the exact size (after fastening the collar on a medium-sized pet, 1-2 fingers should fit between the collar and the neck, but it should not dangle).
• Carabiner and clasp. It is recommended to choose models with reliable attachments for the leash and a high-quality fastener (it is recommended to fix the plastic fastener additionally).

Silicone collars with internal illumination must be worn over the main collar, they do not have a carabiner, they are available on the market in various colors, the size can be easily reduced by simply cutting off the excess tube length.

A simple neon bracelet may be suitable for small pets instead of a glowing collar, but such an accessory will be absolutely impractical, disposable and will go out within a week. Among other things, such bracelets are often made of low-quality materials and have a pungent unpleasant odor.

The glowing accessory will not work for dogs with long thick hair - it is better to use a special flashing pendant of a suitable size.

Most of the luminous collars are made in China, so they may not be of very high quality, and you will have to wait several months for the delivery of the purchase, but you can solve this problem yourself and not too expensively.

Making a glowing accessory for your beloved pet with your own hands is quite simple. It is best to use an existing collar as a base.

You will also need a waterproof LED strip with a special battery compartment (it is better to buy it in a regular electrical or lighting store to make sure that the purchase is of good quality and there is no unpleasant smell) or a tape with a reflective strip.

When installing single diodes, you should choose those that they will not heat up during operation.

Strong linen threads will help to secure the strap on the collar (it is better to place the battery container for the LED version on the outside of the collar so as not to create discomfort on the pet's neck).No batteries are required for reflective tape - just choose a high-quality material with a waterproof coating.
