The mirror has long been a necessary part of our life. Leaving the house, everyone will look at it, and during the day it does not stand idle. If the design is complicated by a cabinet, shelves, drawers, you can put cosmetics, jewelry and many more useful things in them. In this article, we will consider the difference between types of furniture with mirrors and tell you about the choice of models for the bedroom.

In French, this word has several meanings - "pier" and "pier", both of them reflect the essence of the subject. Despite the French name, the appearance of the pier glass goes back to the time of the English Baroque (XVIII century).

This amazing piece of furniture is a mirror consisting of three parts: the central one, the largest one, is permanently attached to the cabinet and is motionless, and the other two are attached to the sides of the main mirror. They are easy to move, changing the angle of view, so you can see yourself from the back. The appearance of the trellis is attributed to Madame Pompadour, the favorite of Louis XV. In fact, no one knows the history of the exact origin, only it is known that it dates back to the Baroque times. Originally it was a large floor mirror in an expensive frame, adorned with precious stones, which over time transformed into three combined components.

It is quite easy to distinguish a pier glass from a trellis: the first has one mirror, and the second has three. There are other distinguishing features as well.

• The pier glass is more suitable for applying makeup. A trellis with the help of moving mirrors makes it possible to examine the hairstyle and outfit from all sides.
• A trellis can often be found in full growth, it is convenient to use it while standing. In most cases, the pier glass is made half-length, it is better to sit in front of it in order to take care of your appearance.

The main purpose of the pier glass and trellis is the maintenance of the mirror, which is necessary to care for the appearance. In the bedroom, such pieces of furniture are of particular importance, but they cannot be placed in any place. Guided by the advice of feng shui, the mirror should not be placed opposite the door and at the foot of the bed, so as not to frighten a sleepy person with an unexpected reflection... In large bedrooms with several windows, a mirror is installed in the partition between them. If there is one window in the room, it is better to place the dressing glass to the right of it, left-handed people will have to choose the left side, then the shadow will not interfere with applying makeup. In any case, the mirror should be in a well-lit place.

In a small bedroom, it is better to abandon the massive trellis in favor of a dressing table with a mirror fixed on a small dresser or table. If you wish, you can also find a compact three-part mirror on a narrow pedestal. If there is enough space, they install large mirror structures ranging in size from one and a half to three meters with an extensive storage system. The color of the products is matched to the interior of the bedroom. Surrounded by a light atmosphere, a white dressing table or a cream-colored trellis looks like a win-win.

Fashionistas have used pier glass and trellises for many centuries, but even today they have not lost their popularity. The industry presents a large selection of this type of furniture, which surprises with a variety of designs, materials and styles.

The pier glass and trellis are endowed with two main forms - straight and angular, that is, one of them can be placed against the wall, and the other can be used to compactly arrange the corner. The back-to-wall options range from small to large. If you are going to purchase a piece of furniture with a mirror, you should first measure the selected section of the wall, and then make a choice taking into account the size, color, style and equipment. Corner models round and soften the geometry of the room. Here, too, one cannot do without preliminary measurements - furniture with a mirror should harmoniously fit into the corner.

In addition to the basic forms, trellises and dressing tables abound in constructive variety. They can be in the form of tables, sideboards, dressers, shelves, drawers or curly coasters. Mirrors with them do not always look rectangular, you can find models with round, oval, square shapes, with curved lines, in the form of shells, petals and other amazing configurations, which only the imagination of designers is capable of.

The furniture industry produces products taking into account consumer demand, and it does not always require expensive natural materials. The most demanded were trellises and dressing tables made of chipboard and MDF. This material imitates well the shades and texture of natural wood species, the color range can be from bleached oak to dark wenge. If the budget allows, for the bedroom in which we spend the third part of our life, it is better to choose models made of natural wood. Wood-based materials are often impregnated with toxic solutions, they have a negative effect on health. It is worth leaving your grandmother's dressing table if it is assembled from natural wood, after making a restoration. It can be used in Provence, retro, shabby chic, chalet, country style bedrooms.

An unsuccessfully chosen dressing table can destroy the harmony of the bedroom, so it is better to purchase it together with a set.
