Curtains complete the design of any room and dramatically decorate the space. The situation in the bedroom directly affects healthy sleep and, accordingly, a person's well-being. For this reason, the choice of curtains in the bedroom should be given special attention.

Peculiarities

The modern fashion trend in window decoration is double curtains, which perform several functions:

  • decorate the room;
  • complement the furnishings;
  • emphasize the general style;
  • make the desired emphasis;
  • add coziness;
  • complement the design;
  • allow you to adjust the lighting.

These curtains are made up of two wide fabrics, which are placed one on top of the other. In addition, you can use lambrequins, bows, garters or brushes.

The absence of large folds greatly simplifies the care of the curtains. In the design of the bedroom with double curtains, you can give free rein to your imagination.

After all, here you can not only combine different shades, but also fabrics of different density and texture.

Materials and colors

But when choosing, it is worth taking into account the style of decoration of the room and decor elements, as well as the color scheme of the room. The merging of tones should be excluded, such a room will look washed out and faded. In the presence of the main beige color, curtains in brown tones are perfect. Very often the bedroom is decorated in calm blue shades, in which case it is better to choose the curtains in indigo color.

Double curtains of soft, not too saturated colors are more suitable for the bedroom.

A dense curtain with a light, transparent tulle is great for a bedroom window. Now many designers use curtains made of fabric such as blackout for this purpose. It consists of three layers, each of which performs a specific function:

  • external - beats off the sun's rays;
  • central - protects from outside heat;
  • back - plays a decorative role.

Often in bedrooms, double curtains with lambrequins are used, where eyelets are used as fastening. A room looks harmonious if the texture of the curtains is combined with other textiles: armchair upholstery, bedspreads or a tablecloth.

There is no need to choose the exact same fabric, but a similar shade or print will look elegant.

You can also play in contrast with the main range of the interior and create spectacular combinations:

  • golden and azure;
  • purple and light green;
  • cornflower blue and light pink;
  • straw and purple.

For double curtains, a combination of lilac-purple or brownish-green shades is well suited. The classic black and white duo looks just as beautiful, and chocolate and light brown look no less impressive.

Varieties

Double curtains can be of several types, differing in both design and texture. This variety allows you to choose curtains for different interior styles.

  • Japanese curtains differ from the curtains we are used to. They consist of completely straight fabrics, without folds or frills. Mostly they come in pastel colors. But, in addition to a single color, the fabric can also be with bright patterns. In the role of fastening such curtains, runners are used.
  • Roman consist of two panels, the lower one is translucent, and the upper one is quite dense. The height is regulated by special mechanisms. Such curtains well adjust the light level of the room.
  • Rolled curtains represented by roller blinds, folded in two layers, and consist of fabrics of different textures. One of them is light and translucent, and the other is dense, not transmitting light. A special device helps to adjust the distance between the fabrics, thereby adjusting the degree of lighting in the bedroom in accordance with your needs. This type of curtain is very practical, as it is well suited for both day and night.
  • Curtains consist of a bottom layer made of tulle and an upper layer of a dense curtain. Such double curtains make it possible to correct the penetration of sunlight into the room.
  • Pleated curtains made of pleated fabric, which is attached to an aluminum profile in the form of horizontal blinds. They are placed on the window using strings stretched between the cornices. Due to the fact that the threads pass through all the folds of the curtain, it can be easily opened and closed, and also simply fixed at the desired level. The main advantage of this type of curtain is the ability to be fixed on windows of any configuration. The environmentally friendly material is impregnated with a special solution that repels dirt and dust.
  • Double layer curtains from tulle and organza make the room very light and give it tenderness and lightness. Translucent fabrics let in sunlight well and create a slight haze on the window. From such fabrics, you can create different combinations, experiment with length or shape. Folds on curtains of this kind look very prominent.
  • "Hourglass" from pieces of two types of fabric, tied in the middle with a ribbon, they look very impressive and are well suited for decorating windows and doors.
  • Combined created from curtains and roller blinds, they provide a very comfortable atmosphere in the bedroom. With their help, you can make a room both light and completely dark.

The appearance of curtains directly depends on the quality and type of fabric. Thick materials are suitable for curtains: blackout, matting and linen, as well as silk, satin or cotton fabrics. For light curtains, it is better to use fabrics such as organza or tulle; mesh, spiderweb or voile are also good.

Brighter colors can be added to the interior using double curtains, one of which will be with drawings.

    Curtains with colored or geometric prints will beautifully fit into the design of the bedroom. You can also use asymmetric curtains, with their help it is possible to visually correct individual parameters of the room.

    How to choose?

    The type of curtains is selected depending on the general style of the room.

    • For minimalism simple curtains without sophisticated additions will do. Curtains in the Japanese style will look good.
    • Classical perfectly complement the dense double curtains with lambrequins.
    • Towards direction baroque choose curtains from satin, silk or taffeta. Bows can be used as an addition.
