The design of the bedrooms can be very varied. And the role of curtains and curtains is very important in it. The criteria for choosing Roman blinds deserve special attention, without knowing which it is impossible to make the right decision.

Peculiarities

Outwardly, a Roman blind looks unusual and sometimes even creates an enchanting impression. It looks better than traditional options, such as:

  • blinds;
  • elongated curtains;
  • cropped sheer curtains.

The curtains of the "Roman" pattern are sewn from soft fabric. They are simple in structure and elegant. When such a product is folded, it creates the feeling of a flat panel, and when it is lifted, folds appear, like a harmonica or button accordion. Due to the stiffening ribs, even folds appear in the raised state. Roman curtains are mounted on a special cornice, where there is a lifting mechanism.

Subspecies

The classic type of Roman blinds is the most popular. It looks like a straight canvas with plastic strips inside. It is they who are responsible for the formation of even folds on the curtain. You can use these products in any bedroom, regardless of its design. Cascading curtains have the same cut as the classic ones, but there is an important difference - the folds seem to fall on top of each other.

There is also a frameless option. These are also straight panels. However, they do not have rigid ribs. For lifting, a special cord threaded inside is used. A frameless curtain can be mounted on an ordinary cornice, and it looks less strict.

When are they needed?

In some cases, a long canvas is simply inappropriate due to the peculiarities of the window or the likely visual overload of the room. There are several situations where roman blinds are very valuable in a bedroom interior.One of them is the presence of multiple windows. Designing all openings the same way can create an overly boring look. It is allowed to use both the same fabric as on ordinary curtains, and similar only in color.

A Roman blind will also help when they put at the window:

  • sofa;
  • bed;
  • table;
  • armchair.

This solution will allow you to actively use the window sill. A clever lifting device ensures precise adjustment of the height of the curtain itself. It will be easy to change the amount of light in the room, even on the sunniest day. There is another case when the use of Roman curtains in the bedroom is justified. This type of curtain improves, ennobles the look of disproportionately large windows.

Unlike ordinary curtains, there is no risk of visual reduction in the bedroom. And the dust in Roman blinds collects much less than in conventional counterparts. Sometimes they are also hung on the balcony door, since this saves space considerably, there is a feeling of freedom, the room is visually made more spacious. Roman blinds will also be appropriate in bedrooms, all of which are facing the sunny side. In this case, use the most dense fabric that can only be found.

How to choose?

Such wide design possibilities are achieved only with a careful, scrupulous selection of a specific product. The main principle of shaping the interior has been and remains correspondence of curtains to the general color of the room. This does not mean that only the same colors and shades can be selected. But visual harmony with furniture or wallpaper must be maintained, and ideally with both at the same time. But what is left to the discretion of the homeowners themselves is the ability to combine Roman blinds with ordinary curtains.

This solution is endorsed by high-end designers. Although it is only recommended, it is definitely not worth giving it up for the sake of personal initiative. By combining an elegant transparent tulle with thickened curtains of the Roman model, it is possible:

  • make the composition in the bedroom even more charming;
  • create a gentle, relaxed atmosphere;
  • dilute the excessive severity of the classic antique curtains;
  • increase the darkening of the room if the sun is too bright.

As for the colors, white has always been and will be out of competition. A light roman blind will harmoniously fit into any minimalistic interior. A juicy contrasting edging can be started along the perimeter of the canvas. He focuses on sharp corners and makes the decor a little stricter, if necessary. When the bedroom is decorated in monochrome light colors, curtains are usually used with:

  • floral images;
  • pictures of birds;
  • abstract graphics;
  • geometric ornament.

Consumers can use both traditional curtain fabrics and fabrics impregnated with special compounds. The impregnations will reliably protect the Roman shade from premature burnout.

Important: designers believe that the best aesthetic solution in most cases will be Roman blinds made of fabric with a complex weave.

As for the fabrics themselves, they are most often used:

  • taffeta;
  • dense varieties of wool;
  • burlap;
  • other linen and cotton fabrics of high density;
  • muslin;
  • organza;
  • base from bamboo and other types of wood.

For your information: some Roman shades can function as a regular tulle. In this case, they should be made of light transparent or translucent material. Blackout curtains are created, of course, from fabrics that are impervious to light. These grades of matter in the trade classification are designated as blackout.

Checking the permeability of matter to light is very simple - you need to take the desired piece and look through it at the window.

If a roman blind is matched to a children's bedroom, special attention should be paid to the safety of the structure. She must solidify and rise to a level inaccessible to children. As for the control options, experts have long considered the automatic method (based on signals from the remote control) to be the most practical. Simpler mechanisms allow you to save a little when buying, but are less convenient in everyday life.

A very serious requirement is the compliance of the Roman shades with the style of the surrounding space. So, in a classic room, expensive materials decorated with drawings from:

  • vegetable plots;
  • all kinds of monograms;
  • crowns and coats of arms;
  • other heraldic symbols;
  • bouquets of flowers.

Important: the classic involves the active use of braid and fringe. Only in isolated cases can they be abandoned. What kind of cases these are, professional designers know.

When designing an interior yourself, it is better not to avoid a time-tested solution. A different approach is appropriate in country-style bedrooms - translucent light fabrics are needed there, painted in green, rich terracotta or wine tones.

The exotic room will be decorated with curtains made of bright fabrics. The ornament can be varied. However, the motives of the Asian and African nature must be traced in it. In ecological and ethnic styles, there is another indispensable requirement - the strict naturalness of all fabrics. The standard here is considered to be curtains on a wooden basis or on the basis of a wicker mat.

If this option seems overly rude, you can take a closer look at:

  • rough canvas;
  • textured fabric;
  • natural wool.

In a high-tech style bedroom, laconic colors from a not too diverse palette will be most appropriate. Unconditional preference should be given to white, gray, black and brown paints.

Important: you can connect a maximum of two colors, one of which must clearly dominate.

A fusion-style bedroom, on the other hand, is advised to decorate with curtains of an original look. Unpredictable color combinations and unusual geometric decorations are even welcome.
