Black Russian spaniel: description of dogs, their character and rules of care

Russian spaniels are very loyal dog breeds. They get along well with all family members and other pets. It is a hunting breed, but the Russian Spaniel can be kept as a family companion. He feels comfortable at home. The most popular color for Russian spaniels is black.

The dog has an elongated croup, low body weight, strong bones and long, muscular legs. At the withers, males reach 44 cm, females - 42 cm. The tail is straight at the base and, according to the standard, should be docked by half. The ears are wide, long, drooping, covered with curly hair. In a purebred animal, the edge of the ear should reach the tip of the nose.

The coat is soft to the touch, long, and can be brown, red or tan in color. There are white individuals with dark specks, black and black-piebald puppies are also considered valuable. For children, the Russian spaniel is patient and restrained. If the child bothers the dog playing, she will not show aggression, but simply leave this room or hide where she cannot be reached.

The animal does not show aggression towards strangers, but it treats them rather cautiously and is unlikely to approach a passer-by on the street after seeing the inviting movement. In general, the dog has a rather aristocratic character, but at the same time, it is a real artist who, begging for a treat, can show the wonders of a dog's acting, and usually gets his reward. Often the tenderness of a domestic companion is combined in the character of a dog with guard qualities.

The hunting origin makes this animal active, mobile... The pet of the Russian Spaniel breed loves walks, jogging, goes out with the owner to nature with pleasure, and swims with pleasure. The dog lends itself well to training, loves communication, but surrounded by strangers always keeps its distance, does not like to be intrusive.

The Russian spaniel tolerates hot weather and cold well, so keeping a dog in an outdoor enclosure is quite acceptable. Only in this case, the animal definitely needs an insulated booth. If the pet is kept in an apartment, then he also needs to determine his place and put a bed there.

Those who decide to have a puppy should remember that during the vaccination period, he should not be allowed out into the street, which means that he will perform his intimate affairs in the house. Not all owners are ready for this, but this is the rule of keeping any dog, regardless of breed. For an unvaccinated puppy, the street is full of dangers - he faces many diseases, infections, parasites. In the house, a young spaniel quickly understands for what purpose a tray was placed for him or an absorbent diaper was placed, so the owners usually do not have problems in this regard.

Once the vaccination period has passed, the animal should be trained outdoors. If the puppy is used to peeing in a diaper, then it is worth taking it with you for a walk and laying it on the ground. Over time, the dog will learn to do without this bedding.

Russian spaniel needs daily long walks. You can visit dog grounds with him, play, take with you on bike rides. Without daily physical activity, the dog can become obese, which significantly shortens its life. During a walk, the dog can react vividly to extraneous actions, for example, to jerk after the company of children or a cat. For this reason, the pet should always be on a leash and descend only in specially designated places.

The coat of the Russian spaniel has a special coating that repels dirt, so the dog does not need frequent bathing - it is enough to wash it 3-4 times a year. But combing the coat is recommended once a week, since the "coat" of this dog is prone to the formation of tangles.

Hunting dogs do not need to trim their nails, and those who are kept at home, it is enough to trim the nails once a month.

It is important to regularly examine the ears of the spaniel, as, due to the drooping shape, they are poorly ventilated, and therefore prone to inflammatory processes. Having found a defect in the dog's ear, you need to immediately contact a veterinarian who will prescribe a competent treatment. If you start the condition of the ears, then over time, the dog will experience pain.

For black and black piebald male spaniels that will be used in the hunt, serious nicknames such as Black, Dark, Damn, Imp, Demon, Pirate, and their domestic counterparts can be called simpler names: Chernysh, Gypsy, Pyatnyshko, Ugolyok, Graphite.

If the name is chosen for a black spaniel girl, then the following names are suitable for the working lady: Bagheera, Panther, Arabica, Mystic, Kara. A pet can be given a light, funny nickname, for example, Soot, Poppy, Blot, Wax, Pyatnashka, Night, Cloud.
