How to replace the sponge?
The creation of a natural and even skin tone is the main task of modern foundations. And in order for the tone to fit in the best possible way, the beauty industry offers many different aids, among which the sponges of all shapes and sizes have been holding the leading position for several years now.
However, it often happens that the necessary beauty tool is not at hand, but it is necessary to correct or renew the makeup. In such cases, you should not immediately head to the nearest cosmetic store, there are many alternative options that are literally at hand for any fashionista.
Using brushes
The most obvious tool that can easily replace the foundation sponge is the various cosmetic brushes. Some professional makeup artists even claim that this is the best way to apply the tone. To choose the right brush, you should pay attention to its composition and the stiffness of the villi. For applying liquid textures, synthetic fibers and artificial materials are more suitable.
For thicker bases, it is better to work with brushes made from natural bristles. Preference should be given to fibers of medium hardness, because very hard hairs can injure delicate areas of the skin, and too soft poorly apply and shade the cream.
With an equal choice, preference should be given to the brush that fits more comfortably in the hand. It will be not only more pleasant for her to work, but also much easier.
For each type of foundation, you can choose a brush shape that will blend it in the best way:
- a spatula with evenly cut hairs is good for working with creamy textures;
- a beveled tool is perfect for dense surfaces;
- a pointed or curved brush of choice for working with liquid textures and light BB creams;
- with a sponge at the end or in the form of a toothbrush - such brushes are considered universal, they will cope with shading a foundation of any texture and density.
Using a scrubbing sponge
Brushes are a great solution for applying foundation. But sometimes there are situations when cosmetic bags with tools are not at hand, but the cream still needs to be applied to the face. In this case, an ordinary dishwashing sponge, which can be found at any housewife's house, will come to the rescue.
To make a do-it-yourself make-up sponge out of it, just cut off a piece of the desired size, slightly moisten it with plain water and squeeze. Of course, the sponge must be completely new, not previously used for washing dishes and pans.
Such an impromptu beauty device works well with foundations and serums, but is not very suitable for dry powder.
What else can you use?
For several years now, popular beauty bloggers in their articles and videos have been using many completely unimaginable improvised tools to apply the foundation, from soft toys to kitchen utensils. Not all of these replacements for classic instruments do their job perfectly well. However, at home, almost any woman can find at least one replacement for brushes or sponges.
Bra pads
Small silicone pads, which are inserted into lingerie or a swimsuit to add volume, are very similar in structure to the latest silispongs. And if the latter have a not too democratic price, then you can find such overlays in the nearest lingerie store. Popular beauty bloggers claim that these earbuds can easily replace an expensive new product.
Apply the foundation with a silicone pad with small patting movements, driving the product into the skin. The material works great with both dense creams and liquid essences and even with dry powder.
Balloon or condom
Another example of a budget silisponge is an ordinary ball stretched over a sponge, a piece of foam rubber, cotton wool, or even a crumpled cloth. In the event that the ball is not at hand, you can use a condom lying in the pocket of your purse. Before using a contraceptive, it is imperative to wash off the applied lubricant from it and dry the product thoroughly, then fill it with filler and use it to apply and blend the foundation.
And if there is a small rubber antistress ball in the toy boxstuffed with flour or starch, then just wash it well with any liquid soap, and your home beauty blender is ready.
Cotton pad
A cotton pad is not the best, but a possible tool for applying thick or dry foundations. The denser the surface of such a disc, the better it will blend the tone over the skin.
Sock
Even a new pair of socks can be adapted for applying makeup. To do this, just twist them into a bagel and turn them out so that you get a small ball. Despite the fact that the cotton fabric absorbs moisture well, the beauty bloggers still managed to apply the tonal base, and the result even exceeded their expectations.
Fingers
Of course, the most popular and simplest substitute for various beauty tools has been and remains your own hands. Not only ordinary girls, but also professional make-up artists who prepare models for fashion shows and actresses for the red carpet apply tone with their fingers. The warmth of the skin heats the foundation, and it lays on the skin in a thinner and more even layer, blending better over the face and neck.
And the main advantage of this method is that fingers, unlike sponges, brushes and even new socks, will always be there.
