Cyberpunk style in clothes and interiors

Cyberpunk theme has become widespread in design trends in recent years. This is a special style of the future, in which computer technology is rapidly developing, and spirituality, on the contrary, is in complete decline.

The roots of cyberpunk go back to science fiction, where the future is often high-tech, but at the same time decadent, depressing and gloomy. If you like fantastic works, you are a creative, extraordinary person who is comfortable in the midst of heaps of metal, mechanisms and computers, then cyberpunk is 100% for you. To reproduce this theme in appearance and interior design, you can use ideas from the films "The Matrix", "Throne", "Blade Runner" and the like.

The concept of cyberpunk is well-known, but few people understand what is behind it. At the mention of this direction, punks immediately come to mind with their mohawks and antisocial behavior. This is partly true, but there are some peculiarities.

Cyberpunk is one of the genres of science fiction. The term has two definitions:

• cybernetics - the science of ways of transmitting information;
• punk is a youth movement that promotes a critical attitude towards the existing social order, power and laws.

The term was first used in literature by writer Bruce Bitke in 1983, when it was applied to the genre of dystopia. In his works, the author described the world of the future, in which the development of high technologies is combined with the deepest decline of society.The storyline assumes the presence of alienated loners who are forced to exist in the lower strata of society among computer technologies and biological modifications of the human body.

Artificial intelligence, virtual reality, robots, hackers, cyborgs are considered an indispensable attribute of cyberpunk. It is ruled by unprincipled and merciless corporations seeking to seize dominance over the world with the help of technological advances and ready to step over human lives on the way to their goal.

Nowadays, cyberpunk is an independent subculture that includes certain dystopian worldviews of literature, music, social order and other components.

There is no single unifying feature in the things of cyberpunkers, the style is presented in a variety of options and often intersects with similar directions. So, it can be very difficult to define a clear difference between cyberpunk and steampunk, cybergothic, cosmopunk, biopunk, cybertrash and technopunk.

In general, the image is selected in one of the following stylistic directions.

• Entropism. Representatives of culture and subculture call this direction the "style of the beggars" who are trying to resist scientific and technological progress and the spread of modern technologies. This style is characterized by the absence of any design solutions in clothing, a combination of general poverty and technological means of self-expression.

• Kitsch. It represents the legacy of the past, assumes cheap, but at the same time bright and creative things in the wardrobe. Representatives of this trend often insert gold-plated implants, do flashy makeup and add many accessories.

• Neo-militarism. The style has a cool design. Supporters of the direction look as if at any moment they are ready to jump out of the space van and rush into battle to protect humanity.

• Neokitch. Style for the richest and most famous, luxury is synonymous with it. The image became widespread among the elite. Adherents of this trend try to look as if they can afford whatever they want.

Cyberpunk clothing style is a successful combination of elements of technological progress and Japanese anime. The clothes are dominated by:

• artificial or natural leather;
• latex or vinyl;
• materials imitating the skin of a crocodile, snake and other reptiles;
• laminated thin fabric, preferably artificially aged.

The colors are predominantly black, with bright, flashy inserts. All kinds of plastic or metal knee pads, neon or fluorescent stickers and pads, as well as numerous shields that resemble body armor are used as accessories.

The stylish look is completed by black glasses, and they are not intended to protect the eyes from the sun, but play an exclusively decorative role, therefore, they are most often worn on the head as a rim. Glasses with electronic elements: a built-in camera, illumination or with a night vision scope will become a 100% hit in the style.

Women who prefer cyberpunk style try to create a dark, slightly mystical, but at the same time sexy image. It is no coincidence that the most common outfit here is body-hugging jumpsuits in black and dark blue colors. The bow is complemented by belts, straps located throughout the costume in large numbers - such an image seems to be copied from Catwoman from superhero films.

From footwear, representatives of the trend prefer coarse high boots made of varnish and leather, always with massive soles and with a lot of all kinds of chains. Oversized ankle boots are in trend. Military style shoes can be successfully combined with any other clothing, including dresses. Essentially, cyberpunk for women is a trendy mix. Any clothing is allowed here, the main thing is that the main focus of the bow is high technology.

An iconic element in the men's cyberpunk wardrobe is an elongated black cloak, similar to the one worn by the heroes of The Matrix. These clothes perfectly underline the futuristic motives of the style. Another good solution is military uniforms. Environmental disasters, protracted world wars, a huge gap between social classes in society make the heroes of the future wear military uniforms. It can be laconic khaki-colored outfits with a stand-up collar, bulky patch pockets, chains, metal fasteners and other accessories.

In the gloomy world of the future, it is impossible to do without elastic, comfortable clothing, so comfortable tracksuits and voluminous hoodies that do not hinder movement should be an indispensable element in a cyberpunk wardrobe. This look is complemented by shoes with neon elements and a massive cushioning sole. Modern heroes of a dystopian world often dress in the outfits of modern Japanese samurai or ninja. It's no coincidence that their clothing includes hooded hooded capes.

The punk roots of the futuristic subculture are primarily manifested in hairstyles. Most often, representatives of the movement form a mohawk on the head - an upright comb. It can be painted in a single tone, all shades of the rainbow, or unexpected color combinations.

In any case, it should be bright, while the dirtier the hair is, the easier it is to give it the shape of thorns. To create a stylish hairstyle in the past, they used home-grown styling products (sweet water or beer). Modern punks fix their masterpieces on their heads with the help of gels and varnishes, using them in huge quantities.

When decorating housing in cyberpunk design, plastic, glass, and also metal are used to the maximum. Wood and other natural materials are possible, but they should look like they were found on the street and brought into the house just because you have to sit and lie on something. They should not harmoniously fit into the overall interior; ideally, the cyberpunker's dwelling should look half-abandoned. It should evoke associations with houses dilapidated after hostilities or other cataclysms. Alternatively, the apartments can be styled like a bunker or a spaceship.

When planning a repair, you can use one of the following topics.

• Space. This design option for living space is more like the cockpit of an intergalactic ship. Plastic, metal and glass prevail here. The entire space is characterized by laconic geometry and maximum functionality. There is no decor whatsoever, not a single superfluous item. Furniture merges with the walls, loft-style tables are allowed. The lighting is cold and fluorescent. Blankets, curtains, cushions, family photos and other items that create a warm atmosphere are inappropriate here.

• Apocalypse. Another typical cyberpunk room. Here, futuristic objects are combined with old things, reminiscent of a house that survived after a military or natural disaster. Additions typical of an abandoned building are often introduced into the interior: concreted walls without finishing, pipes, open cables and necessarily sparse lighting. Air ducts, grilles and fans are freely available. All this is combined with household appliances and furniture of the most extravagant kind, in this way the idea of ​​a high-tech future is emphasized. In general, the whole situation looks as if it is only a temporary refuge for a fighter with the existing system, and in no way a place of his permanent residence.

• Cyberspace. Such interiors are similar to the scenery of a sci-fi movie or the location of some kind of high-tech Internet game. The decoration of the premises is not much like a living space. In this interior, it can be difficult to draw the line between virtual reality and the actual events. Electronic modules are appropriate here, the "smart home" system will come in handy. The light should have cool shades of green, purple or blue. The placement of luminous clocks, pointers and signage, reminiscent of the advertising lights of large streets, is popular.

In general, the aesthetics of cyberpunk-themed dwellings are dark and gloomy. It is characterized by decorative items in the form of gas masks, mannequins and depressing posters.
