The style of dudes experienced its heyday in the middle of the 20th century. It was a kind of challenge to Soviet youth to the drab and monotonous everyday life. The first dudes were "noticed" in the USSR in the first years after the end of World War II. These were the children of diplomats and trade workers - those who often traveled abroad. Thus began the history of a new subculture and everything that was associated with it.

The young people themselves were initially called staff members, that is, those who follow the example of the United States. However, in 1949, on the pages of the then popular satirical magazine Krokodil, a feuilleton about staff members was published, in which their behavior was called unworthy and even harmful for the conservative Soviet society. In this feuilleton, its author Belyaev used the word "dudes" for the first time. Surprisingly, the fans of the ever expanding movement were not at all offended and, reasonably judging that the new word comes from the concept of "style", finally renamed themselves dandies.

Gradually, the outfits of the fans of the subculture changed. Especially women's clothing has changed, which has become more elegant and functional.However, due to constant pressure from the outside, by the mid-60s, the movement practically came to naught. But even now it is considered very original and stylish to throw a party in this direction and try on unusual and extraordinary images, with the help of which everything everyday and ordinary was once challenged.

The main feature of women's clothing in the style of dudes is expressive and colorful images that emphasize femininity.

Among other distinctive features of the subculture:

The main attribute of the wardrobe for women was a fitted dress with a flared bottom. To give his skirt more volume, several tulle petticoats were worn under it. Often the outfit was draped on the bodice.

Trousers in the style of the dandies were slightly cropped, which allowed the public to show off such a bright detail as colorful socks. Trousers had a variety of cuts, but flared or tapered models were more popular. In the early 60s, pipe trousers came into fashion.

A must-have wardrobe dudes are considered a jacket with slightly widened shoulders and square pockets. The most popular version is in the Chanel style - without a collar and with trim along the hem. Another popular wardrobe attribute for stylish women is grace (a kind of slip-on corset) instead of underwear. This element made it possible to emphasize forms and make the figure more slender and fit.
