Thermal applicators for rhinestones
Decorating clothes with special bright thermo-rhinestones will require the needlewoman to have special, but at the same time, uncomplicated equipment. A self-developed image will require a special kind of soldering iron.
Advantages and disadvantages
The main advantages of using a thermal applicator:
- portable and lightweight;
- such a device can be used almost anywhere, it is so compact (to carry out the work, the needlewoman will need a thermal base and access to the electrical network);
- the tool allows you to heat up all the smallest elements in a sufficiently uniform degree, thereby ensuring their reliable attachment to the fabric;
- the device is easy to use in difficult places (most often when placing small items on pockets or collars);
- the kit usually contains a stand for the applicator (during operation, the instrument heats up a lot and it is on the stand that you can put it);
- the device is suitable for decorating handbags, clothes and shoes.
Cons of the thermoapplicator:
- in some models, there is often an incomplete set;
- nozzles in some models darken very quickly;
- not all thermo-applicators have an on and off button, you just need to plug it into an outlet, which is not very convenient;
- some attachments fit too tightly into the rhinestones.
Principle of operation
Soldering iron for rhinestones is considered an indispensable tool for decorating all types of clothing, all kinds of accessories and for creating stylish interior decorations.
The thermoapplicator looks like this:
- the plastic body has small parameters (about 20-22 cm together with the attachments);
- the set contains several convenient attachments of various sizes and an oversized container for their careful storage;
- folding stand with a special eyelet is convenient.
The plug from the appliance must fit all types of existing outlets, and the cord is quite long.
The device is extremely easy to use: you do not risk scalding your fingers, as it is equipped with thermal protection. This allows you to glue rhinestones as comfortably as possible.
Nozzles can be of 2 types:
- flat (to gently glue round rhinestones);
- equipped with a special recess and a slot (for sticking products of the usual sizes, which are placed in the recess and held with small tweezers using the slot).
How to use?
The device is intended for heat treatment of the glue surface of special decorations. If a whole shiny composition is smoothed with an ordinary household iron at once (and the fabric often deteriorates), then the soldering iron for thermostats will act pointwise and 100% sure: each of the selected strasses must first be warmed up, and only then glued to clothes.
According to the instructions, you should first prepare the workplace and select the amount of rhinestones per fabric required for hot fixing. You should have enough space on your work surface to lay out the product you are going to decorate evenly.
Ideally, a wooden backing or even a thermo napkin will work for this. Rhinestones of the desired colors and the device for gluing them should lie as conveniently as possible under your hand.
If you have never worked with a special soldering iron for rhinestones before, then before starting full-fledged work, you should make sure that you have exactly the thermostatic rhinestones in front of you. Even if nothing is written on the product packaging itself, you can very easily determine what material you have to work with.
Thermostatic rhinestones differ from conventional products in that have a black or gray hot glue backing... Non-thermal glue stones (they are also called cool fixation rhinestones) do not have such a backing, they do not need it, since they are fixed to the product using ordinary glue. By the way, Swarovski rhinestones look very stylish on various surfaces.
Sitting comfortably, you can start work:
- first you need to choose a suitable type of nozzle, while it is worth relying on the parameters of the pebbles and the characteristics of the matter itself;
- before putting the attachment on the tool, make sure that it is turned off;
- the device is placed on a stand, the plug is plugged into a power outlet, now you need to wait about half a minute;
- glue the selected thermodecor onto the fabric with a heated apparatus.
Experts use 2 methods of gluing thermostastes.
- The decor must be laid face up on the fabric, then you need to warm up the pebble a little with a soldering iron, then you can glue it. It is best if the pattern you need was laid out ahead of time on the fabric. Here, both flat and concave nozzles are suitable for work.
- You must first lay out rhinestones on paper or a special substrate... After that, the selected rhinestone is heated for about 5 seconds with a soldering iron: the stone itself will stick to the selected nozzle due to the heating of the glue. Now you can carefully transfer the decoration to the material. This method is very good if you opt for an attachment with a concave bottom, which is strictly suitable for the parameters of the stone.
After gluing the thermostats with a vacuum soldering iron, you need to go over the entire drawing with an iron and steam and let the product cool down. Then he is definitely not afraid of any washing.
The work is very time consuming and time consuming, but the result is inspiring. The soldering iron for gluing rhinestones heats up quite quickly, if you do not follow safety precautions, you can get burned.Be as careful as possible in your work and take care of your fingers.
If you need any additional tools in your work to accurately adjust the position of the rhinestones on the fabric surface, you can always use small tweezers or wooden sticks like toothpicks or orange tree models.
