The bob is a classic haircut, quite simple to perform. It is very comfortable at the constantly accelerating pace of everyday life, since some types of squares do not need to be styled daily. This haircut was brought into fashion and was very fond of the Egyptian queen Cleopatra. In the Middle Ages, such a hairstyle was worn exclusively by men of all ages and classes. The dancer Irene Castle returned this hairstyle to women in the early 20s of the XX century, she simply cut her hair, because they interfered with her during the dance. From that moment on, women were freed from the need for many hours of complex styling.

Features of technology

The technique of cutting any kind of bob begins with dividing the hair into 5 sectors, to facilitate graduation, each of which is hardened separately:

  • part the hair with a fine comb with fine teeth along the central natural parting;
  • separate the horizontal parting from ear to ear;
  • highlight the upper occipital zone;
  • highlight the middle occipital zone;
  • thus, there will be one more sector (lower occipital), from which you need to start the graduation.

It is better to do the graduation with thin horizontal strands, with a hair stretch at an angle of 45 degrees. After styling the hairstyle with a hairdryer, it is necessary to work out the edging and remove the excess graduation along the entire contour from the occipital curls, moving first to the left to the ear, then to the right (closer to the ear, it is necessary to loosen the brace). You need to check the length of the strands when creating the shape of the hairstyle according to the previous trimmed strand, and not according to the first control.When working out the temples, keep your fingers parallel to the temporal zone.

After drying the hairstyle with a hairdryer, it is necessary to make a thinning to soften and finally clean out the entire contour, if necessary, apply the technique of point cuts.

The technique of cutting a square-cascade has its own characteristics:

  • you need to start work by highlighting the U-shaped parting in the parietal zone;
  • the control strand stands out on the natural parting line;
  • the study of the selected hair area is carried out in vertical strands with a brace at 90 degrees (in the direction from the bangs to the back of the head, from the natural parting line);
  • the temporal sectors are worked out with a vertical guy to the nose;
  • the lower occipital zone is worked out with the allocation of a new control strand at the base of the neck (parallel to the floor);
  • the haircut line is rounded as in a regular square to the temporal zones (the strands need to be pulled back as little as possible, passing between the middle and index fingers towards you, so that the curls curl to the outer edge);
  • after drying and styling, it is necessary to work out each curl at the ends with a vertical brace using thinning scissors.

The styling of this type of haircut is done in vertical strands with outward curling. A graduated square is performed with the reception of lengthening each subsequent strand, from the lower occipital part. When working out the graduation, it is recommended to set the first control slice at an angle of 45 degrees. A haircut of the lower occipital sector is performed with a hair pull back in vertical strands, from the center, moving to the left edge, then to the right. All subsequent strands are measured using a control sample of the center strand. The curls at the face are trimmed with a vertical brace at an angle of 90 degrees.

Varieties

Today there are several varieties of this haircut, however, all of them are designed to help emphasize the merits and hide the flaws of girls with any appearance.

With and without bangs

A classic bob is a haircut (with straight bangs) that suits tall, slender girls. Bangs haircut options:

  • oblique;
  • asymmetrical;
  • short and others.

It must always be remembered that any bangs removes the volume of the main hairstyle, visually stretches the face, so you should not make it too thick. There is also a square without bangs.

Elongated

A square with strands extended to the chin is suitable for owners of straight hair. Smoothly trimmed voluminous curls are significantly lengthened at the chin, with this hairstyle you can smooth out angular facial features or visually stretch a round face.

Bob car

Bob-caret has soft, but at the same time clear contours: the hairstyle is strongly lifted at the back of the head and receives additional volume. This shape of the square is constantly in need of updating, so it always looks fresh. Bob-car is suitable for everyone, without exception, especially mothers love her after the decree, when it is necessary to get rid of split ends, as well as spend a minimum of time on putting the hair in order.

On the leg

The bob "on the leg" is the shortened strands on the back of the head and a very shortly cropped lower back of the hair. Similar to the "bob-bob" variety, it needs to be adjusted literally once every three weeks. This form of haircut is suitable for owners of a graceful figure with a thin neck.

Graded

A square with a graduation gives volume to the parietal area of the hair, smoothes the square shape of the face. This haircut is contraindicated for thin hair, but works well for reducing the volume of thick hair. The only "capricious" type of square that requires daily styling.

Asymmetrical

An asymmetrical bob gives the image a mischievous touch; girls are very fond of this type of haircut. The whole trick of performing this hairstyle is that from the right side such a haircut looks like a classic square, and from the left side it looks like a boy's haircut. Suitable for straight hair only.

Oblique

The oblique square is suitable for owners of large facial features. The elongated strands in the front accentuate the neck beautifully. The spread between the bottom line of the hairstyle at the back and at the face is minimal: up to 8 cm.

Cascade

A cascade square on short hair smooths out sharp facial features, suitable for very thin girls. For medium hair, the cascading haircut gives maximum volume and is suitable for unruly hair that will lie naturally without disturbing the hairstyle. Such a haircut, less than all other types of bob, needs to be adjusted; when growing hair, it can go into a regular cascade, with a length below the shoulders without much difficulty.

With extended front strands

A square with elongated strands at the chin gives a feminine hairstyle with an open neck at the back. This haircut is best for chubby young girls. At the same time, a square with elongated front strands will help to easily hide wide cheekbones.

How to choose?

In Russia, many girls have thin hair, but you can mask this flaw with a properly selected haircut. Owners of rare hair often have a problem with the volume of their hairstyles, so it is most profitable to choose a universal bob haircut: elongated, short, on a leg or classic, then the hairstyle will receive additional volume, and the hair will remain shoulder-length or slightly lower, while maintaining soft feminine forms. It is better to cut bangs on sparse hair that are not very thick, oblique or asymmetrical.

It is necessary to approach the choice of one or another version of the square individually and take into account: the thickness of the hair, the complexion of the figure (a short square is not suitable for full ladies), the shape of the face.

How to stack?

Styling a square takes up little time, the main thing that needs to be done is to add volume to the hairstyle at the back of the head and twist the ends of the hair with a hairdryer, curling iron, curlers to create a beautiful contour. Just three simple steps, and a neat gentle hairstyle is ready:

  • wash your hair and blot well with a towel, dry your hair a little with a hairdryer at a minimum speed (you can apply styling product);
  • starting from the back of the head, wind the strands alternately on a round brush of medium or large diameter (do not forget to shape the curls at the ends along the way) and dry them with a hairdryer;
  • using a comb with rare teeth, give the desired shape and lightly spray with varnish in the direction of the back of the head towards the bangs.

You can use curlers for styling a square, but only boomerang curlers are suitable, they will fix the hair very softly and neatly without leaving any marks. In theory, hedgehog curlers are also suitable, but they spoil the hair very much. Therefore, it is better to refuse this option. If you need to get a perky volume, you can use curlers of different sizes: wind the smaller ones closer to the neck, and the larger ones on the upper part of the head. There is another technique for obtaining root volume - drying with a diffuser.

You can lay the square with a curling iron, but first you have to add root volume with a hairdryer, and then wind the strands alternately on the curling iron from the back of the head. This method is not suitable for owners of brittle and fragile hair, a hot curling iron will finally turn them into straw. Also, to give root volume with thin, as well as sparse hair, fleece is contraindicated, because it greatly increases hair fragility.

Styling the bob (with elongated strands) should be done by lifting the upper occipital part of the hair with a large diameter round brush and a hair dryer. The most gentle styling is applying a special foam or powder to clean, slightly damp hair and shaping it with your hands. The final drying of the curls should happen naturally, without the use of a hair dryer.

For styling thin and thin hair, it is best to apply a fixing agent at the roots, so as not to make the curls heavier along the entire length, the greatest volume is given by the use of corrugated tongs.The bob haircut has many varieties, all of them are derived from the classic bob and each type is adapted to certain facial features, so that any girl can choose the most suitable version of this versatile and unpretentious hairstyle for herself.
