They attributed magical powers to them, considering them antennas for communication with the Higher powers. Representatives of this large ethno-linguistic community in Europe sincerely believed that they store the information and energy of a person from the moment of birth. The Slavs turned hair care into a ritual to make it even stronger, longer and shinier. They avoided haircuts: health, youth and life left with the cut off curls. The longer the hair was, the more prosperity, abundance, happiness and harmony in the family.

The pagans had a similar attitude to hair. Neither men nor women cut them unnecessarily. To prevent long hair from interfering with their campaigns, men braided a braid and gained strength in the fight against the enemy. It was inappropriate for a young girl to appear in public with her hair down if she did not want to be known as a witch and dreamed of a successful marriage.

Many years have passed since then. While some consider the signs related to hair cutting as dark superstitions, others believe in them and observe them.

There are conflicting views on the haircut of boys and girls at the age of one. Hairdressers, under the strict guidance of superstitious mothers, cut off one single strand - the one on the top of the head. They take it for themselves and keep it carefully until the child grows up. They hide her in a secluded corner, next to the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos, believing that she will save evil spirits from diseases and sabotage.

There are mothers who demand a haircut for a one-year-old child. In their understanding, through the generic intrauterine hair, preserved for up to a year on the head, strength and health go away. After a haircut, they also take the "baby" hairs and store them in a box as a talisman.

From generation to generation, they passed on the belief that cut hair retains a particle of vitality. Therefore, all their lives, grandmothers and great-grandmothers collected them in a special bag, and before they died, they asked loved ones to put it in the grave - at the head of the bed.

In the 21st century, there are rarely mystical people who care about the fate of hair cut in a hairdressing salon. Those who believe in omens collect them from the floor and take them with them so that the wind does not pick up the hair, the man with malicious intent does not pick it up, and the bird does not take it to the nest. They are pushed to such a step by fear for their health and the prospect of facing trouble.

The girls decide where to put their hair after a haircut at home.

1. They burn them in a stove, fireplace, or campfire flame. The fire will evaporate all the accumulated negative, get rid of troubles and ailments.
2. They throw curls into a pond or sewer. This option is not chosen by everyone, but only by those who are sure that happiness will not wash away along with streams of water.

The whims of stylists and the wishes of the buyer leave an imprint on what color of hair they prefer - dark or light, wavy or straight, Asian or European.

Cut curls are often bought at a hairdresser. The master will make an offer if he sees that the client has decided on a short haircut. Sometimes they refuse him, because he offered a small price and they sell themselves through advertisements on the Internet, in a magazine, on a fence or a pole.
