All About Ernie Ball Strings

If you've got yourself a new guitar, then you'll have to stock up on the right string sets for them, as over time they will wear out and become unusable. One of the most popular manufacturers of such parts is the Ernie Ball brand, which produces strings designed for different models of such stringed instruments. Today we will talk about the features of these products, as well as what varieties they have.

Peculiarities
Ernie Ball strings are made from processed quality metals, including brass, bronze and various types of steel. Many of them are equipped with reinforced windings, which provide maximum strength and reliability of such products.

These guitar strings are also often coated with a special titanium alloy to provide maximum surface protection, including corrosion.
And also some samples are created from other materials, including nylon.

Varieties
The manufacturing firm currently manufactures and markets various types of guitar strings. All of them can differ among themselves depending on what kind of stringed instrument they are intended for. The stores sell separate sets for acoustic, electro-acoustic and classical instruments.

First, let's look at a collection of such elements for acoustic products:
-
Earthwood 80/20. These varieties are made from 80% copper and 20% zinc base. They have a bronze base winding and a tin-plated hexagonal core made of steel.

-
Slinky Acoustic. For these strings, the winding is created from a special alloy, which includes bronze and phosphorus. They also have a tinned steel hexagon core.Products will be able to please listeners with interesting and rich sound, as well as rich timbre.

- Coated Slinky Phosphor Acoustic. These models are part of the previous collection, but they have a number of important features. These samples have reinforced titanium alloy winding, which is fixed at the base of the parts. The base is made of a high-tech alloy that will not be damaged by corrosion, which significantly increases the overall service life.

Now you should get acquainted with the models intended for samples of the classic type:
- Ernesto Palla Classica. These kits include nylon material. Moreover, both simple transparent and special black materials are used for production. The second option is much more solid, it provides the most sonorous sound. Several of the strings in the kit are made with a special fiber nylon core. They can be either silver-plated or bronze wound. The second variety is considered much more durable and ringing.

Now let's see what strings can be suitable for an electric guitar:
-
Nickel Wound. These products are made with a strong steel winding and a steel hexagonal core. All sets have a special gradation of strings depending on their thickness.

- Coated Slinky Electric. These strings are part of the previous series, but they differ in a number of significant features. So, in each such set there are reinforced parts with a winding made of titanium wire, it is fixed at the base of the elements. All are coated with a metal complementary alloy that prevents corrosion on the surface.

- RPS. These guitar strings are also part of the Nickel Wound collection, but they also feature a special winding that prevents the knot from being untied at the base.

- Classic Pure Nickel. These models are made with nickel windings and have a tinned hexagonal steel core. Such samples will delight you with a much softer and warmer sound.

- 2221 Regular Slinky. These strings are equipped with a hexagonal core made of high strength carbon steel. They are made with a nickel plated finish.

The manufacturer also produces models for bass guitars:
- Round Wound Bass. These strings are made with a nickel-plated steel coil and a steel hex core.

- FlatWound Bass. These models are also nickel-plated steel wound products with steel hex core. As a rule, such sets are used for fretless musical instruments.

The 1152 Custom Gauge is worth highlighting. These strings are single, they have a solid base in the form of a metal core with a hexagonal tip, which is plated with nickel plating.

These samples will allow you to create an unusually bright and beautiful sound, and they can also last as long as possible. They can be used to form a whole guitar kit.
It should be noted that all of these guitar parts may differ from each other depending on the size. Most often, there are models with values of 10/46, 9/46, 10/52 (the thickness of the first and last strings).

Criterias of choice
Before buying strings, remember that different models will only fit certain types of musical instruments. So, for classical guitars, only soft nylon products can be suitable, since metal ones can simply damage their body.
And also when choosing, you should carefully look at the surface of the strings. They should not have even the smallest irregularities, all protective additional coatings must be uniformly applied, they cannot have chips and other defects.
