There are never many handbags. Each outfit dictates its own rules for the selection of accessories. You can afford to have clutches for any dress from the wardrobe, if you learn how to sew them yourself. This is not as difficult as it seems at first glance.

How to sew from an old bag?

If a large bag is dusty in the closet, which is a pity to throw away, it's time to give it a second life. A forgotten old thing can be turned into a completely new, stylish accessory.

First, you need to open all the outer seams of the large bag. The lining does not need to be touched, it is perfect for the interior decoration of the future clutch.

A new handbag can be made according to the simplest pattern, where a rectangular piece of fabric is conventionally divided into three parts: the front and back sides of the handbag and the flap.

  • Parts for a new product must be cut out of the old bag. It's good if it works out neatly. If not, it's not scary either. You just have to pay more attention to the decor.
  • When the old bag is cut and the dimensions of the future accessory are determined, the lining is cut off.
  • Details are sewn on the inside. To do this, they are folded with the right side to each other and a line is made on three sides. The handles and the zipper are then sewn on.
  • After that, the product is turned inside out and connected with a seam on the fourth side.
  • The valve can be closed by conventional or magnetic buttons.
  • Upon completion, the seams of the leatherette clutch must be tapped with a special hammer. It is enough to iron the textile product with an iron. This is done in order to align the seams, then the work will look neater.
  • It is advisable to use glue to strengthen the seams between the parts of the clutch.

Leather envelope clutch

Sewing a leather envelope clutch with your own hands is a snap. The advantage of leather or leatherette is that for such a product it is not necessary to work on the seal. This material retains its shape perfectly. For the same reason, a leather clutch does not require additional fasteners. The main thing is to choose a pattern successfully.

Such a thing is sewn in the same way as a clutch from an old bag. Only the part for the valve is made in a triangular shape. From a piece of fabric, you can create a purse of the desired size.

Evening clutch

For sewing an evening clutch, a paper pattern is used - for the main part of the product and for the side insert. In it, the dimensions of the parts are increased by one centimeter, which is necessary for the seam.

Wall details are cut out according to the same pattern: upper fabric, non-woven fabric, synthetic winterizer, lining, sealant.

Everything is the same, except for the seal, it is cut out for the side inserts. Accordingly, there should be two elements.

  • Details intended for the front side of the future clutch are glued with non-woven fabric. The glued parts are sewn with padding polyester along the cuts, then quilted in any shape, but so that the stitching matches the pattern on the fabric.
  • The cut seal is shortened by 1.5 cm, then trimmed to the top line. After that, you can carefully remove the protective film and stick it on the quilted wall. After that, the lining is sewn: on the main part - along the oval line of the valve, on the inserts - along straight cuts.
  • Now you need to turn the product out and sweep the oval edge of the flap, making incisions. Then carry out the finishing stitch. It remains to tuck and manually hem the top line.
  • All remaining cuts are connected with one line. The place where the fastener will be must be stitched twice. Then the button will not spoil the bag with every opening and closing. Then you can sew on the fastener itself.
  • One-piece piece connects with side inserts. In this case, the lining must be turned off. The seams turn towards the inserts and hide under the lining, securing them with blind stitches.

The accessory can be complemented with a beautiful flower. Making it is not at all difficult:

  • Two strips 90 cm long and 9 cm wide are cut out.
  • Fold in half and sewn, leaving a pass through which it will be convenient to turn the part out.
  • One corner of the resulting tape must be unscrewed and secured with a stitch.
  • Then the petals are formed by turning the tape at right angles, securing the turns with stitches.
  • The flower will look beautiful on the flap in place of the fastener.

Stylish model with a bow: master class

Another beautiful and simple model is a small handbag with a bow. By consistently completing all the points of the plan, you can create a stylish accessory with your own hands. For a purse, you need to prepare a piece of fabric for the front side.

It is better to use a thick fabric so that you do not need to use seals. Another cut is needed for the lining.

The bag will consist of the following elements:

  • 2 pieces of 25x15 cm - the main part of the bag;
  • 2 parts 27.5x15.5 each - bow;
  • 1 piece 36x8.5 cm - handle;
  • 1 piece 5x12.5 cm - middle of the bow;
  • 2 pieces of 25x15 cm - lining.

It's more convenient to start with a bow:

  • Fold the piece of fabric intended for the middle of the bow as in the photo.
  • Then we sew one line at each edge.
  • We connect the edges, face to face.
  • We turn the ends in different directions, iron the seam and turn it inside out.

Now let's move on to the handle:

  • Fold a strip of fabric in half lengthwise and iron it.
  • Then we unfold and fold, but with both edges to the center, and again in half.
  • After that, we iron it again and sew it on a typewriter.
  • We connect the ends and sew.

Back to the Bantu:

  • We fold both parts face to face and connect on the sides.
  • Turn the resulting "sleeve" onto the front side and iron it.
  • Gently collect the folds of the bow and thread it through the middle.
  • We take the main part and apply the bow at the desired level.
  • It should be noted that the bow is slightly longer than the main part of the clutch, because the jewelry should look three-dimensional.
  • We pin the bow on the sides, aligning the edges with the main part.
  • We are stitching.
  • Then we sew a handle at the upper edge of the bow.

Lightning:

  • Sew one half of the zipper face to face with the front of the future accessory, the other with the back.
  • Then, using the zipper foot on both parts, sew a stitch close to the fastener.

Lining:

  • Take the lining piece and sew it with a line to the inside of the zipper.
  • We do the same for the front and back walls of the clutch.
  • Now we combine the resulting details - the front with the front, lining with lining. Here you need to look carefully so that all the edges fit perfectly.
  • We pin the front part and the lining around the perimeter, then we stitch it. The corners can be made semicircular.
  • On the lining, do not forget to skip the line - leave room for turning out.
  • Excess fabric at the corners can be trimmed.
  • Gently twist and straighten.
  • Sew up the hole in the lining.
