If in doubt that having armed only with sewing tools and having made a few measurements, you can sew an original dress, throw them aside. This article provides different models of dresses, sewn without patterns, which are indistinguishable from the factory ones.

Summer chiffon

Light and airy chiffon is a real salvation in a hot time, and it looks elegant and romantic, fluttering in the wind. A good example is a dress that is short in front and long in the back, which we will sew.

DIY chiffon summer dress

A one-piece dress with an asymmetrical hem should fit snugly at the top and then flare out from the armhole. Since the material is transparent, cut it out in two layers from the main fabric or use a lining for the lower one so that the dress does not shine through. The number of layers, the length of the dress on the back, and the width will determine the amount of fabric. As for the width of the skirt, the larger it is, the more beautiful it will fold.

Take the shirt and circle it, not forgetting about the seam allowances. Immediately on the fabric, model the neckline of the front, making it deeper or more closed, asymmetrical or bandeau.

There are no waist darts, but if you wish, you can make darts on the chest. Then on the pattern of the front, increase the cut of the armhole by a couple of centimeters.

Creating a dress pattern using a T-shirt

From the line of the armhole on the back of the dress, make a flare in the form of an A-line and arrange the neckline of the skirt. To do this, mark the length of the skirt in the middle of the back, for example 130 cm, then round the hem to the side seams with a smooth line. On the skirt of the front, also flare and measure the desired length, then arrange the cut of the hem.

Chiffon dress patterns

If you like models that are short in front and long in the back with a wrap on the skirt, then the skirt is cut out separately and then sewn to the top. The bodice can be a ready-made blouse or a self-sewn one. Just don't forget about the clasp if the top will be tight-fitting and sewn from poorly stretched fabric.

If the fabric is sheer, sew an extra short petticoat or, while outlining the T-shirt, lengthen the top on the fabric.

Skirt sewing:

  1. Fold the rectangle at least 140 cm wide and the desired length for the skirt in half.
  2. Measure 10-12 cm from the opposite side of the scent fold.
  3. Set the length of the front skirt down with hem allowances.
  4. Draw a diagonal line from the corner point through the length of the front skirt to the bottom, smoothly rounding the hem.

On the skirt, overlock the bottom or use the snail foot, and sew an elastic at the top. Sew the skirt and top together.

Linen sundress

Linen striped fabric and a loose model of a sundress with a cut-off bodice and a half-sun skirt with a frill will give comfort in the warm season.

For the top, you will need 2 rectangles with a width equal to the half-girth of the chest and the length of the shelf measurement, additionally add allowances. Also measure the height of the armhole and set aside in segments.

Draw oblique lines for the armhole, then draw the drawstring at the top, finish the armholes and sew both halves of the bodice. Pass the tape.

We cut out a skirt:

  1. Fold a fabric 150 cm wide in half.
  2. Measure your waist, or rather where the top of the dress ends.
  3. Set aside half of the measurement with an allowance in the corner of the segment in a semicircle.
  4. Measure the length of the skirt without the flounce all over the fabric.
  5. Cut out the piece and sew.

From the remaining fabric, cut out a rectangle for the shuttlecock. Gather it and stitch it to the skirt, then stitch the skirt and top of the sundress.

Straight in the Greek style

Believe it or not, a cocktail or date dress can be made in just one stitch. In appearance, it will be no worse than the design one, and you will spend only 10 minutes of time.

You will need a piece of knitted fabric with the addition of viscose measuring 150x150 cm.

  1. Fold it in half.
  2. Take your bust and hip measurement. Measure the half-girth of the larger measurement at the bottom of the fabric and draw a line upward, not reaching the edge by 25 cm.
  3. Now lay a line along the marked line and two more at a distance of 1 cm. To prevent the machine from pulling the fabric, place a sheet of paper under the bottom, and then carefully remove it from the seam.

Pull a long satin ribbon into the resulting 2 drawstrings. The dress is ready.

Since the viscose is not tousled and the arrows do not go, there is no need to process the edges.

Try on a new outfit, secure the shoulder cuts with a beautiful pin or brooch, you can sew them, now adjust the length and form the drape.

Homemade jersey

A simple cut of a jersey dress with straps will provide comfort while doing household chores, while still allowing you to look beautiful.

Knitted dress without pattern

Cut out 2 rectangles equal to the half-girth of the chest with seam allowances if you want a tight-fitting option, and the length you need. For example 55x65 cm.

The next step is to shape the armhole and round the hem:

  • Fold the line segments in half.
  • In the bottom corner of the opposite fold, measure 10 cm and 3 cm up, then connect the points with a semicircular line.
  • In the upper corner, measure down 5.5 cm, to the left - 11 cm.
  • In the opposite corner on the fold, measure from the top cut 1 cm at the back and 3 cm at the front. And smoothly connect the top points.

Tape the remaining fabric over the top and bottom cuts. Pull the elastic into the top. If the dress is loose, sew an elastic at the waist.

It remains to make the straps that will serve as a binding for the armholes. Cut out strips 25 cm long. Sew them along the side cut to the front armhole and to the back armhole. Make a hem on the second side cut by ironing it. And then sew on the wrong sides of the parts. Stitch the details on the sides.

For pregnant

Expectant mothers need to stay stylish during pregnancy without causing discomfort to themselves and their baby. One of the most successful styles for pregnant women is a loose, simple dress that can be decorated with beads, lace, detachable collars or bright brooches.

Maternity dress without a pattern

For sewing a loose dress for pregnant women, only one measurement is needed - the volume of the hips. If the tummy is already large, then the volume of the abdomen.

  • From woolen or any dense fabric, cut out a rectangle 130 cm wide and 160 cm long.
  • Fold the line 4 times.
  • From the fold, measure the quarter measurements of the waist or hips and plus 5 cm.
  • From the obtained point, set aside 40 cm upwards.
  • For the sleeve, set aside 30 cm from the opposite side and connect the two points obtained with a line, slightly rounding the corner.
  • Cut the details along the line, and then cut the neckline.
  • Sew a one-piece neckline and sew on it.
  • Sew the side seams and finish the bottom of the dress.
  • Make a drawstring on the sleeves and stretch the elastic into it.
