Tea candles: types and uses
Many people know what tea candles look like, but not everyone knows why they are called that. Read everything about tea candles in the form of tablets and how to use them in this article.
Peculiarities
Tea lights were designed to keep the vessel warm during tea ceremonies.
The art of drinking tea requires slowness and peace of mind. Running to the kitchen to reheat the kettle for dear guests is completely inappropriate here and destroys the traditional tea idyll. It is much better to light a candle under the stand with a teapot and enjoy your pleasure to continue a pleasant activity, not in a hurry.
Tea specimens are distinguished by their miniature size. Outwardly, they resemble pills. Their height is from 1 to 2.5 cm, and their diameter is about 3.8 cm.... This is enough to maintain the right temperature for warming up tea or making fondue during a party. Like any candles, tea tablets have a wick, and the waxed mass-base is poured into a sleeve made of metal or plastic.
Among the advantages are the following:
- due to the metal sleeve, the candles are less fire hazardous;
- have many uses, they are often used to decorate a bath or glass vessels - they float perfectly on water due to their low weight;
- they can always be bought in a souvenir and gift shop at an affordable price.
The disadvantages include the fact that for the purpose of lighting the room, tea candles are not used. A large number of them will be required to replace the lamp.
Varieties
On the shelves of shops there are sets of a wide variety of candles. The product differs in several aspects.
By composition
Candles are made from different raw materials.
- Natural wax. Wax candles burn for a long time and evenly, emitting a light aroma of honey and propolis. Inhaling this smell is not only pleasant, but also useful.
- From soy wax... This is a natural material, it burns perfectly without emitting unpleasant odors. It is perfectly washable from tablecloths and clothes without any traces.
- From paraffin... These are the cheapest, but not the most healthy products. When paraffin burns, it releases harmful chemical compounds - toluene and benzene, so you shouldn't use them often.
By color and smell
There are not only white, but also multi-colored specimens: yellow, pink, lilac, blue, cream. The shade of the accessory does not matter, but it may have a special smell. There are flavored specimens with a berry aroma, notes of citrus, spices and flowers. If the scent is too heavy and plentiful, it can cause nausea, headaches, and allergies, which is why most people prefer candles without artificial fragrances.
By sight
LED pill candles have become popular among decor lovers. They are absolutely safe and economical, outwardly they hardly differ from the real ones. An AG13 / LR44 battery is placed in a plastic case, and on the bottom of the candle there is a lever that allows you to turn the device on and off.
Candles can be safely brought to a children's party, placed on shelves where there are books or toys, on tables with lace napkins and tablecloths, placed in glasses and glass lanterns. Progress is moving inexorably forward, so now you can even find electronic candles on the control panel. They are quite useful if you are thinking of decorating hard-to-reach places with candles. For example, decorate them with a chandelier or an island in the middle of the pool. The only disadvantage of LED and electronic candles is that they won't help you warm up the tea.
By form
In addition to traditional pill candles, you can find tea candles in the form of stars, flowers, cones.
How many burns
The burning time of an ordinary candle depends on its volume and the thickness of the wick. The larger the tablet and the denser its wick, the longer it will delight you with its light.
- Candles with a diameter of less than 4 cm and a height of up to 1 cm burn out in 30-40 minutes.
- Tablets with a height of 2.5 cm burn for 3.5 to 6-7 hours.
- If you are concerned about this issue, use LED candles. They will definitely not let you down during the holiday. Their continuous burning time is about 4 days.
