Features of LED Candles
Candles are considered to be one of the most mysterious and attractive lighting fixtures. They are able to create a romantic atmosphere in almost any room. But using an open fire in a house or apartment is unsafe because there are many flammable objects nearby. A worthy replacement for traditional candles is LED. In appearance, they are in no way inferior to conventional ones, but their use is safer. To choose LED candles, you must first study their features.
What it is?
LED or LED candles are a relatively new lighting fixture. The main light source here are LEDs enclosed in a plastic case. Batteries act as a power source in such lamps.
There is a power button on the body of each candle. After bringing it into active state, the LED lights up. This is the whole principle of work. The flickering effect is obtained due to the fact that several diodes alternately turn on and off inside the case. In appearance, candles practically do not differ from ordinary ones.
It is noteworthy that to turn off an artificial lamp, you just need to blow on it. In terms of duration, the candle can work only as long as the battery's action lasts.
Advantages and disadvantages
Decorative candles have gained popularity due to their many benefits. The main one is fire safety. If you accidentally hit and drop an object, there will be no fire. That is why they are allowed to be placed in close proximity to flammable objects: books, curtains, clothes.
There are other benefits as well.
-
Variety of colors. You can choose the classic options that, when turned on, give a red or orange tint. And you can buy other colors: blue, green, pink. There are also some models that change the palette in the process.
-
Compared to conventional candles, electronic candles are more durable. One way or another, but a paraffin candle burns with use and becomes inappropriate. This won't happen with LED candles.
-
High comfort of use. In ordinary candles, paraffin flows down and can stain not only clothes, but also furniture. And the LEDs can be touched during their operation.
In addition, you cannot get burned from LED candles, which cannot be said about ordinary ones.
Among the disadvantages should be noted the higher cost, the need to buy batteries (as an additional cost). If the spark plug is mechanically damaged, the body may burst.
Manufacturing materials
In appearance, the candles are very similar to real ones. The main production material is plastic. But other options are not excluded:
-
glass;
-
wax;
-
wood.
In some models, metal elements are additionally present. Most of them are made of composite materials. For example, the main body can be made of wax and placed in a glass beaker. Floating candles (designed for use in water) usually have an aluminum or plastic cup holder.
Shapes and sizes
Candle sizes vary. There are long specimens with a fairly large circumference. There are very small ones. Most often they are intended for use on the water, for example in a pool or bathroom.
The most common candle length is 10 to 15 cm. It is noteworthy that such lamps can be sold in sets, where there are copies of different sizes.
There are also a lot of different options in shape. The classic model is an elongated candle in the shape of a cylinder or cone. And also candles can be round, oval, square.
If we talk about unusual shapes, the most popular is the LED candle made in the shape of a heart. And also there are teapots (in cups) and twisted candles.
Design
There is also no limit in the color scheme of fantasy. White, beige, cream and pink candles are traditional. But basically the body shade can be anything: green, blue, black.
Glitter options are very popular. The backlight is also different. As already mentioned, everything here depends on the color of the LED, and during operation, the flame can change its hue.
You can often find black candles. They look very harmonious in the interior, where light colors are predominant. Multicolored specimens create a romantic setting.
Views
There are several types of candles. As it has already become clear, they differ from each other in size, shape and design. But these are not all the criteria. So, LED luminaires are classified into several categories based on flame type.
By type of flame
A flickering flame is rightfully considered a classic option, since in appearance it is as close as possible to natural combustion. A living flame is created by flickering red, yellow and orange LEDs.
And also there are candles emitting cold light. Their flame is most often white or pale yellow in color. Recently, lamps with a movable wick have been popular. In terms of intensity, there are also weak and brighter ones, warming.
By way of control
Luminaires differ from each other in the type of control. There are also several options here:
-
from the button located directly on the body;
-
from the remote control (more expensive options);
-
more interesting are blown out - here there is an imitation of blowing out an ordinary flame;
-
sensory candles (switched on by touch).
The classic and most common is the push-button control.
How to choose?
When choosing LED candles, you must first decide where they will be used. In terms of the method of application, electronic lamps do not actually differ from real ones. They can be used both at home and at events.
At home, as a rule, interior candles in candlesticks are used. Better if you choose them in a classic style. But the ideal option for turning on and off is a remote control.
For the holiday, you can choose bright LED candles, the design of which coincides with the general theme. They can be switched on from the button. For a romantic setting, you can choose white or red in the shape of a heart. It is better if they turn off from the breeze. For Halloween, a black candle or pumpkin-shaped candle will do. It all depends on the subject matter and individual preferences. If you intend to use candles on water, then you need to choose small, almost weightless options.
It is also important to check the quality when choosing. It is better to buy lamps in trusted stores, paying attention to the packaging, the product itself and the cost (it should not be suspiciously high or, conversely, low).
Examples in the interior
Electric LED candles have been used quite actively in the interior for several years. They can be used to create a festive and romantic setting. So, the photo shows the option of using lamps for dinner.
The same copies can be used to create a New Year's composition.
Not a bad option when lamps in glass cups are used as decoration.
The fireplace area is decorated with LED lamps.
Such lamps will organically fit into almost any interior. The main thing is to choose them correctly and use them exclusively for their intended purpose.
