Basic movements

Beginner young dancers, whose age is 4, 5, 6 years old, can already master the basic movements:

  • Sham Rock (a combination of a step with a turn and body lift);

  • jumping;

  • going back with a fall and "catching" the body;

  • pulling up the legs with a rise on the half-toes;

  • hand connection;

  • imitation of "washing" the cat.

In theory, all of this can be learned even at home. True, the younger the trainees and the higher the requirements for classes, the more relevant is the involvement of professionals.

In addition, 6 dance steps should be practiced. Later, a clear age specificity already begins. Preparation at home and in circles is very different for children of different ages, and therefore groups for children can be distinguished:

  • 7, 8, 9;
  • 10, 11, 12 years old.

Decent dance routines often include Smurf, Kriss Kross, March Stepe and Steve Martin moves in various combinations.

The nuances of vocational training

Before you start self-study tutorials (video course) or sign up for lessons in the studio, you need to soberly assess your physical parameters and capabilities. Children and adults who are overweight or cannot run up to the fifth floor are unlikely to be immediately admitted to dance training. They will have to first pull up their general physical training. An important role is played by the development of acrobatic elements, and the mastery of basic movements, and the ability to combine them into dance links.

Hip-hop implies a clear choice of one of its directions... This does not mean that you have to master only a certain set of movements, practicing it endlessly. On the contrary, as already mentioned, improvisation is needed, so good dancers can confidently show themselves in all private variants of the style. However, only one of them can be honed to perfection.

Before starting any exercise, it is imperative to warm up in order to prepare the muscles for the perception of the upcoming load.

In addition to training in the gym, you should definitely work out all the movements and ligaments at home or on the street. This can be done both with friends and alone, although the collective format is more effective. You need to come to classes in loose clothing that does not limit your mobility. Shoes are also chosen on the basis of comfort. Most often, they begin to train in sneakers, but then personal experience will tell whether they are suitable or not.

In each of the directions of hip-hop, there is both a basic and an advanced level. Real professional instructors always insist that students master the basics first, and only then tackle the complex elements. If you place your arms, legs, body incorrectly, then there can be no question of any clear graceful dance. For training with an inexperienced group, they usually use simpler music, but always with a clear rhythm.

Special exercises for beginners are aimed at developing the muscles of the hips, neck, arms, core and feet.
