Features of break dance hats
With the beginning of freedom, which we were given by the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st, many types of art began to actively develop, including dances. One of the relatively young types of dance is break dance. Young boys and girls began to do it on their own on the streets. They constantly searched for new techniques and techniques, as well as comfortable clothing. One piece of equipment for practicing break dance in this regard simply could not be neglected. This product is a hat. Various types of "hats" were used - from soccer balls cut in half and one's own hair to thick woolen headwear. Now, thanks to modern technologies and competition in the market, the production of headwear for break dance is put on stream. It is about the features of these products that we will talk about in the article.
Description and purpose
Everyone knows that one of the key breakdancing movements is head spinning. All other elements of this dance are inferior to him. This dance element has its own name - headspin (from the English word headspin). Going around on the head without protective equipment is fraught with consequences. There is a special breakdancing hat especially for head protection. In addition to protection, it also allows the glide to become even smoother.
It may seem that a special breakdancing hat can be replaced with a regular one. These special products are distinguished by their fabric, shape and special tailoring. The main characteristic feature is the presence of a special seam located in the middle of the headdress. Thanks to him, gliding becomes exactly what it should be during the performance of a break dance - both uniform and beautiful.
A headgear must be brought to every training session.
Already in the initial period of training in break dance, the trainer can teach the techniques of the headstand. It's not safe to make them without a hat. A good coach must also understand this.
It is generally recommended to wash all products of this kind in water colder than 30 degrees Celsius. It is best to wash the product by hand, it is allowed to wash in a machine on a delicate cycle. Do not dry the product on a battery or with an iron. It is best to do this horizontally. Do not twist the product in a wet state too much.
Of course, such products are not a full-fledged replacement for winter hats. The former are made from fabrics that do not retain heat and are designed to absorb sweat. It is not recommended to expose dance equipment to rainfall.
The average service life of the product is 3 years with active use.
What are they?
All hats of this kind can be divided into two large groups.
-
Break dance hats are simple. They look the same as the regular hats (not for break dance) that we wear in life. They are not very convenient for practicing, although they have a smooth surface. Woolen models were originally used as such hats, until it became clear that dancing outside in the summer in a woolen hat was exhausting. The average price is 700-800 rubles. Sometimes they can have an additional thin inner lining.
-
Rotation caps... A special mesh insert is sewn to such hats from the outside. Such products have the ability to insert an additional "layer". This insert is easy to remove and insert if necessary. In the very first models, back in the 1980s, nylon inserts were sewn. Usually the mesh is made of polypropylene and stitched with fishing line, sometimes with reinforced threads. The latter are considered to be of higher quality material. The insert is made of foam materials. The average price is from 1,500 to 2,000 rubles. It's easier to get them than the models described above.
As a rule, break dance hats are sold complete with a retaining elastic band. It can be purchased separately.
And also there are separate models for adults and for kids. Sometimes it is not easy to distinguish them - all hats of this type have a wide lapel, which is needed in order to hide the fixing tape. This feature gives all products an elongated look. The dimensional grid must be checked with the manufacturer. Models can be sewn in different sizes (often S, M, L), but at the same time they do not visually differ in any way. This happens because the products are sewn from well-stretched materials. Models of this kind should be close to the head and not slip over the eyes. Fixing rubber alone is not enough for this.
Selection Tips
For anyone involved in break dancing, it is imperative to wear a similar hat. But before that, you need to acquire it, focusing on the following points.
-
Total duration of classes... If you or your child have been taking a break for less than a year, then there is no point in spending money on an expensive hat with special inserts. Get a regular hat. If, in total, dancing lessons have been going on continuously for more than one year, then the usual hat should be replaced with a special one with inserts.
-
Insert... Only professional dancers can use a hat without an insert (but with a mesh). They do this in order to better feel the floor and control the speed and other parameters of the headspin. For experienced dancers, it is best to purchase a model with a high-quality additional insert. For beginners, an insert with a thickness of more than 5 mm is considered optimal.
-
The quality of the seams and finishes. There should be no threads sticking out of the cap, and the edges should be efficiently and accurately processed. The protruding seams not only interfere with spinning, but also spoil the product itself (it unpicks and wears out faster).
-
Comfort... The headgear should fit snugly around the head without pinching it. The use of a headgear should exclude the possibility of its spontaneous removal.
It is worth mentioning that prolonged activities, especially head spins, lead to scalp injuries... Sometimes the hair can begin to fall out, and then local baldness can come at all. Thus, one should always practice with a hat.
