Care after permanent make-up
General rules and recommendations for care after permanent make-up must be given by the master at the end of the procedure. But these instructions are not always comprehensive enough. A detailed reminder on how to care for the skin of the lips, eyelids or eyebrows after the tattooing procedure in the first days, as well as in subsequent periods, will help to find answers to all questions.
First day care
Professional tattooing is performed using special devices with thin needles that minimize skin trauma. But the permanent procedure does not do without damage at all. The rate of healing in this case depends on the type of technique used and many other factors. A simple guide will help you understand how to care for skin damaged during the permanent makeup process for the first 24 hours.
During this period, manifestations of puffiness and redness will appear on the face. The pigment will gradually start to look very dark and vibrant. The affected areas will ooze blood from the wounds. For this period, all treatment is limited to wiping the surface of the skin with special napkins or blotting the secretions with cotton pads.
It is strictly forbidden to press hard on the contour of the tattoo - this will lead to increased separation of the lymph, and with it the pigment.
The first hours are the most painful and difficult. Here, leaving should be phased.
- Removing the remnants of old cream or ointment is done with a napkin.
- Treating injured areas with a medical antiseptic.
- Applying special healing agents to wounds. They are applied with sterile cotton swabs, the unabsorbed excess is removed after 30 minutes with a soft napkin.
It is important to strictly observe the sequence of processing, not to violate the recommended mode of its implementation. It is forbidden to wash with water during the first two days. Instead, cotton pads are moistened, and then they gently cleanse the face without touching the damaged areas.
Dry crusts should not form on the lips. For this, the surface of the skin is regularly freed from traces of ichor. The procedure has to be repeated up to 8 times in a row. A cold compress applied to dry skin can also be used as a decongestant.
What tools can you use?
Lip tattoo care for the first 14 days after permanent makeup should remain very delicate. The skin during this period is prone to irritation, so any alcoholic cosmetic products should be discarded. It is better to opt for milder natural remedies. But, when processing the already made permanent makeup of the lips or eyelids, you should carefully select the composition of the products - a large amount of plant extracts can provoke allergies.
To accelerate the healing process in areas injured by tattooing, several recommended and permitted means can be distinguished.
- Specialized ointment "Etoniy". It is used by professionals in their work. Such funds are applied in the salon immediately after the completion of the procedure.
- "Dexpanthenol" and ointments based on it. Creams are also suitable, but already at the healing stage. In the first week, it is precisely ointments that are needed - thick, slowly absorbing into the surface of the skin. It is better to take special wound-healing agents.
- Tetracycline ointment. Time-tested anti-inflammatory agent. Sold in pharmacies without a doctor's prescription.
- Cosmetic petroleum jelly. Its fatty base is chemically neutral. At the same time, petroleum jelly helps to prevent the rapid drying of damaged skin, makes it possible to prevent injury.
- Balm "Rescuer". It is intended for accelerated healing of injured areas, helps against burns, frostbite, and promotes tissue regeneration.
In general, all the products used in post-tattoo care are united by the fact that they contain a saturated fatty base that softens the skin. It also becomes an effective barrier against bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms.
After 2-4 hours after the tattooing procedure, the effect of the local anesthetics applied by the master will end. With severe pain during the first day, you can take drugs based on paracetamol, ibuprofen. It is better not to use aspirin, as it promotes blood thinning and can provoke a more abundant separation of the blood. To prevent possible allergic reactions, antihistamines are used in tablets.
Care rules in the future
In the early days, the skin must be properly cared for. Already on the second day after applying permanent makeup, the skin surface will look very dark. During the night, the accumulated lymph on the surface of the lips, eyebrows or eyelids dries up, mixes with the ichor and pigment.
If the care was organized correctly during the first day, the swelling will gradually subside. The skin will not ache and itch, it will acquire a normal shade without redness.
When crusts appear
From about 3 days after applying permanent make-up, crusts form on the skin and begin to peel off. You should not remove them manually, you will have to endure some inconvenience up to 7 days. But it will be possible to return washing to the list of permitted hygiene procedures. By about 5 days, the skin begins to itch a lot. A day later, the crusts finally come off naturally, and the permanent makeup itself will take on an almost complete look.Caring for areas of permanent make-up after crusting requires special attention. All areas along the contour and in places of filling with pigment are daily treated with chlorhexidine or similar preparations. After drying the surface of the skin, apply cosmetic petroleum jelly or other recommended products to it.
If you experience severe itching, a feeling of dryness and tightness, you can relieve the discomfort with baby cream or dexpanthenol products. It is important to avoid the use of moisturizers. They help to wash out the pigment and can lead to subsequent correction.
If the crusts accidentally break off during sleep, it is imperative to treat the open skin area with an antiseptic, and then with a fatty ointment.
After healing
From 2 to 4 weeks from the moment of applying permanent makeup, it is imperative to continue the treatment with antiseptics up to 2 times during the day. The rest of the time, caring and cosmetic procedures are carried out based on the type of skin. It is worth paying attention to the fact that it is no longer necessary to lubricate the contours with fat ointments, the injured areas regenerate on their own.
After waiting a month, the client must visit the master again. The specialist will assess how well the healing went. If the pigment is uneven, or there are errors in the clarity of the lines, correction is performed.
It is important to understand that it is proper care that avoids the formation of scar tissue. When the crusts are torn off, the refusal to regularly apply the ointment, an infectious skin lesion can also develop, the tone will acquire an uneven color.
Over the next months, from 2 to 6, the main rule for caring for areas with a completed tattoo will be full protection from the sun. UV rays can seriously damage the healing contours of permanent makeup. The use of sunscreen will eliminate the potential risks. It is better to take products with an SPF of 50 or more.
What cannot be done?
Recommendations for skin care after permanent makeup will be incomplete without listing the prohibitions. During the recovery period, it is important to adhere to them, otherwise the result may be disappointing. Let's list a few important points.
- Thermal exposure limitation. During the first 14 days after the procedure, you should refuse to visit the bathhouse, sauna, solarium.
- Refusal to visit the pool. It is also valid for up to 14 days. Water disinfectants contain substances that can irritate the skin. And also an infection can penetrate into open wounds.
- Restriction on sports training. It is valid for 10 days. If this rule is not followed, skin irritation from sweat and mechanical damage to the crusts may occur.
- Refusal from alcoholic beverages. It is recommended to exclude their use for up to 30 days. Otherwise, the active separation of fluid, provoked by vasodilation, will give the tattooed area an uneven color. In addition, swelling may appear on the skin.
Considering all these tips, you can avoid unpleasant complications that can significantly worsen the skin condition after permanent makeup.
