Tattoo "Perun": meaning and options for sketches
In Slavic mythology, Perun is the God of thunder and military valor. If you believe the legend, at the time when Lada gave birth to Perun, Iriy shuddered from thunder and lightning that illuminated the sky. And although this God has a rather stern appearance, he is personified with good and light. A tattoo with his image can have several interpretations.
Meaning
Traditionally, Perun was approached by those who lacked military courage and dedication. According to the legends of Slavic mythology, Perun endowed these qualities with many who turned to him with similar requests: a person who received strength and courage from a deity became a good warrior, capable of defending his country from enemy forces.
The tattoo, which depicts Perun, is more suitable, of course, for men, but this does not mean that it cannot be applied to a woman's body. The main meaning of a tattoo is to demonstrate to others their own strength and courage. A tattoo characterizes those people who are not afraid of difficulties in life, do not try to evade or hide from enemies. Often, tattoos are filled with military personnel who have completed serious military service, as well as those whose character is dominated by strong traits.
Sketch options
The most popular option is reasonably considered a talisman tattoo. It is applied to the body as a protective talisman that protects against the negative effects of ill-wishers or enemies. Additionally, the image gives the owner courage, fortitude and responsibility to weaker people. Very often, in addition to the main image, attributes inherent to this God are attached:
- war hammer (ax);
- shield;
- lightning.
For this case, the sketch shown in photo 1 may be suitable. Previously, representatives of the stronger sex used to stuff Perun with a shield and an ax. And since now women are inclined to take the initiative into their own hands, it is possible that some will want to see Perun on their bodies in this very guise.
The classic version of the tattoo is shown in photo 2. There are just no additional attributes here.
And if you look closely at the face of Perun, then you can note the rather soft features of the deity, the intent and very kind gaze.
Often, Perunov's color is attached to the main image (the so-called Perun's wheel). This symbol is presented in the form of a fern inflorescence or an eight-pointed pattern similar to the swastika. Since ancient times, the fern has been inextricably associated with this God: it is believed that Perun transferred a piece of his soul into this plant.
Such a symbol, stuffed on the body in the form of a tattoo, performs a protective function, protecting a person from the evil thoughts of his opponents (damage, evil eye). In addition, a person shows those around him his inherent courage, strength, dedication. Sketches of tattoos with such a symbol are presented in photos 3 and 4.
The bird is a little-known symbol that is directly related to the God of Thunder. She can be depicted in different variations:
- as a complement to the main image;
- with a flame spewing from a beak;
- in tandem with a swastika.
A sketch of a very original and voluminous tattoo is shown in photo 5.
If you want to move away from the classic image a little, you can fill yourself with a more modern version of the tattoo. The sketch is shown in photo 6. Here Perun is depicted, rather, not as a deity, but as an ordinary person endowed with all the same qualities: courage, strength, a stern look. But at the same time, the person depicted does not cause a feeling of fear. On the contrary, one senses a protector in him.
Since it was previously indicated that modern girls and women also get tattoos depicting Perun, photo 7 and 8 show options for the fair sex... In the first case, it is just a swastika. But the second option is already a full-fledged image. Often, women fill such tattoos as a sign of respect for their male protectors.
Which part of the body to apply?
It is noteworthy that a tattoo with the image of Perun can be applied to almost any part of the body - from the place of deployment, it will not lose its main protective value. Still, there are a few guidelines to consider.
- If you want to portray the Thunderer God in all his greatness, then the back will be the best place.
- The second most popular places are the shoulders and chest (but this is more likely for men).
- If there is no desire to make an image that is too voluminous in terms of area, then it is better to do with the signs of Perun. Symbols can be applied to the wrists, forearms, neck, ankles, and calves.
Since Perun is directly related to Slavic mythology, it is very important that the tattoo artist understands this area.
An incorrectly transferred sketch can ultimately have a negative impact on its owner.
