One of the youngest dog breeds is the Czech Terrier - the 20th century is considered the beginning of its history. This rare representative of the animal world has an unusual appearance, positive disposition and active behavior. In the family, this sociable creature is everyone's favorite.

The Czech Terrier is an original breed of dog bred by František Horak, an amateur breeder from Klanovice near Prague. Gorak set himself the goal of creating a small, lightweight dog that could take part in burrowing hunting. In a different way, it was planned to create a Sealyham Terrier, which would be characterized by a light physique and a dark coat color, so that such an animal could easily crawl through narrow burrows without getting dirty.

In 1948, the scientist crossed a Sealyham Terrier male and a Scotch Terrier bitch. After the puppies appeared, he worked with babies. The first show of the Czech Terrier took place at an exhibition in 1959, and after 4 years the breed was officially recognized by the International Cynological Federation. Today, representatives of the breed are considered rare dogs.

The Czech Terrier is a small breed of dog with a sturdy rectangular body. The animal has short limbs, well-developed muscles and elongated hair. The expression of sexual demorphism is moderate. The pet is characterized by growth at the withers of 0.25-0.32 meters and a body weight of 6-10 kilograms.

The head of the dog is long, with a convex skull, resembling a triangle in outline. Depending on the color of the fur, the nose may be black or brown. Brown eyes are medium in size.The ears are of medium size and set high; they hang and lie close to the temples. Representatives of this breed have a scissor bite.

The neck of the dog is medium in length and quite strong. The skin on the neck is flabby. Strong bones on straight forelegs. The hind legs are characterized by short thighs, developed arches and parallelism. On a medium-sized body, ribs are concentrated, which have an arched appearance. The dog's chest is cylindrical, deep, the ribs on it are curved.

The tail of the Czech Terrier is long, in the usual calm state it is lowered downward. During movement or arousal, the tail rises upward. This animal is characterized by vigorous gait and parallel movement of the limbs. The pet is endowed with long wavy hair with its inherent silky sheen. The fur color is usually gray-blue or light brown.

Sometimes there are yellow markings on the cheeks, below the muzzle, chest, below the limbs, under the tail and neck. There are creatures with white tail tips and collars. The skin of the animal is gray-blue or gray in color, but if the dog has light brown fur, then it is flesh-colored. The formation of a full-fledged color in a dog occurs by the age of three, acquiring a characteristic saturation.

3. Dental care. Dogs of this breed can suffer from dental ailments, for this reason, the pet should be taken to the doctor more often, as well as purchase a special toothbrush and paste. For the health of the dog's oral cavity, it is worth giving the animal to gnaw on hard bones.
4. Walking. In order for the pet's energy to be directed in the right direction, a smart terrier should be regularly walked.

Czech Terriers are not picky about their food. This voracious creature can steal food, beg for it with pitiful eyes, and is even able to pick up food on the street. The owner should immediately stop such moments, as the dog is prone to obesity.
