If the thermopot slowly pumps water or stops supplying it altogether, then this indicates clogging or breakage of certain parts. The most common cause is pump malfunction. But you should not immediately purchase a new thermopot, because first you need to study the nature of the problem, and then you can try to fix it yourself.

Varieties

Regardless of the manufacturer of the thermopot, a pump is always installed in the device itself. In turn, all pumps can be roughly divided into 2 large categories:

  • manual - which pump water only if a person presses a special button several times;
  • automatic - provide water supply after pressing a button once or switching a special toggle switch.

Depending on the belonging to the first or second category, the internal structure of the water pump also changes. So, an electric pump consists of an electric motor, on the body of which there is a working chamber made of durable plastic. A special impeller is put on the shaft of the same electric motor, which is directly responsible for pumping water. In more modern and expensive models, an additional filter is installed in this part, designed for water purification.

An important point! If the thermo-pot is equipped with a built-in filter, then the clogging of the latter can just be the cause of the breakdown.

A manual or mechanical pump is equipped with a cylindrical pump. The material is moderately soft and has folds that shrink and unfold if necessary.The entire mechanism is completely made of plastic, and it can be activated only if the lid of the thermo pot is tightly closed.

The pump requires absolute tightness to operate. But even if this condition is met, the pump will not work without human intervention. So, when you press the corresponding button (usually located on the lid of the thermopot), the pump compresses and drives a small amount of air into the upper compartment of the chamber. There, pressure is formed, which pushes the water in small portions. It is noteworthy that the more intensely a person presses the button, the faster the water is poured.

After pressing, the mechanism returns to its original position on its own. This principle of operation can have both universal thermopots and more modern models presented in the form of teapots-thermos.

How to check?

In order to independently check the reason for the incorrect operation of the thermopot, you need to know its internal structure. So, almost any thermopot consists of the following parts:

  • reservoir;
  • heating element;
  • manual or mechanical pump.

It is the last component that is more often than the rest that is the reason for the lack of water supply.

In order to check the correctness of the operation of this mechanism, you just need to pour water into the thermopot and try to pump it out. It also depends on the type of pump. To activate the automatic pump, simply press the corresponding button on the control panel. And to pump water using a cylindrical shape, you need to press it at least 2-3 times.

If the water supply is not carried out or a thin stream is observed, then there is a clogging or breakdown of the mechanism. You can try to disassemble the thermopot and fix the problem yourself.

An important point! Before proceeding with the repair of the thermopot, it must be disconnected from the mains, and all the water present inside must be drained.

What if the pump does not pump water?

In order to get to the mechanism, it is necessary to disassemble the lid of the thermopot. If there is an automatic pump inside, then the breakdown may be as follows:

  • malfunction of the control system;
  • malfunction of the motor inside the electric pump;
  • the impeller chamber is clogged with solid deposits.

If there is a hand pump inside the thermopot, then the reasons for the breakdown will be different:

  • there was a rupture of the plastic corrugated pump;
  • the silicone seal located directly under the lid of the thermopot has become unusable.

It is noteworthy that all of the above malfunctions can be identified visually. That is, this does not require any instruments and devices for diagnostics.

In a mechanical pump, it is the pump that most often breaks down. In this case, the water supply is poor (intermittent and thin stream). Sometimes this is influenced by pollution, but more often it is the rupture that is observed. The plastic case is not as reliable as it seems at first glance. And also from constant bending and unbending, the material wears out over time.

Since after the rupture of the pump, the chamber is depressurized, it is no longer able to fully pump air. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to repair a leaky part. Of course, you can try to glue it, but such a patch will not last long. It is better to replace this part with a new one, especially since the pump can be purchased in the store for a purely symbolic cost.

After the new pump is available, it is important to replace the old one correctly and very carefully. In most models, it is fastened with latches, and if you break them, you will have to buy the entire cover. In this case, the replacement will cost about two thousand rubles.

If it's not about the pump, then the silicone seal located directly under the lid must be replaced. This part can also be purchased from the store.Replacement can be very simple (just pick up the gasket with a knife or screwdriver). If the structure is complex, then it needs to be disassembled. Such a breakdown can be repaired in 30 minutes.

If the automatic pump stops turning on, then you also need to get to the mechanism and check it for solid contamination. If there are none, then most likely the problem is nutrition. In this case, diagnostics must be carried out using a special device - a multimeter. A power check should be performed.

You need to start the test from the power cord. The most vulnerable spots are folds. The electric pump motor is powered by 12 volts DC. Using a multimeter, it is necessary to check the rectifier current diodes. The fact is that in one direction they must pass current, and in the other not. If the motor does not work, then it is necessary to replace the entire structure.

It so happens that the motor works well, but the pump still does not pump water. In this case, pay attention to the camera - it may be clogged. To correct the current situation, it must be cleaned with high quality.

If you follow the instructions, then it is not at all difficult to make repairs if any of the listed problems arise. And in order to prevent the pumps from getting dirty, it is recommended to pass water through a filter before pouring it into a thermopot.

In the next video, the information is presented more clearly.
