Features of thermos with a straw
The difference between a thermos with a tube and a simple one is in the tube itself. These thermoses are used not only by teenagers at school, but also, for example, by athletes or long-distance hikers. Such devices are classified by purpose and volume.
general description
Thermoses with a straw look like an ordinary similar vessel for keeping the temperature of drinks or hot food for several hours... However, due to its density, food is not able to move through the tube. It is difficult to drink even syrup, condensed milk or heated chocolate through it, not to mention trying to eat soup from such a product during lunch.
Common drinks for such thermos flasks are sweet tea, milk, soda, mineral water, fruit-free compote, freshly squeezed juice. But not semi-liquid or solid foods. However, some models are universal - the tube can be temporarily pulled out by unscrewing the partition into which it is inserted and using a wide-necked thermos as dinnerware. But such models are rare. It is better for schoolchildren to organize liquid foods with them in the form of drinks so that they can stifle hunger during a large number of lessons.
The tube at the top contains a button that acts as a valve. When the button is pressed, air passes into the vessel through another opening, without which the liquid will not flow out through the tube. The design itself is collapsible, allowing you to wash the tube, the inner part of the lid with a button-valve and the inner container into which the drink is poured. Children's and teenage models of thermoses are made so that their maintenance and care is not difficult.
Species overview
Snorkeling baby and adolescent models, as previously stated, are primarily intended for drinks. Thick drinks will have to be diluted with juices and soda, so that they become easier, and the ability to drink does not turn into a problem. By weight, thermoses with a tube are presented in the following categories:
- 0.3-0.5 l (up to 500 ml);
- up to 0.8 l;
- up to 1.0 l;
- up to 1.5 liters.
It will be difficult for a student to carry more weight and volume with him. Perhaps such a product will often fall out of hands, break.
Thermo mugs, thermo jugs have handles for easy holding. Outwardly, these are two-layer, double-walled circles with a double bottom, from the space between the walls of which air is pumped out. Supplied with plugs with inserted tubes and screw caps.
For older schoolchildren, thermoses of a classic design are often offered, which have straps for easy portability. The same models are also appreciated by students, if the design is not too "cartoonish", but is made in strictness and clarity of lines with discreet colors.
In addition, thermoses are characterized by the materials from which they are made. Cheap models are manufactured in accordance with sanitary and environmental standards, domestic and international standards. The materials for them are:
- thick-walled PET (food grade plastic, from which bottles of 0.3-2.25 liters are produced);
- food grade polyethylene high density (from it in the era of the USSR, tanks and flasks for water and food were mass-produced).
Selection Tips
You should not use low-quality products made of low density polyethylene with all kinds of additives, as well as polyurethane foam products. These types of plastic are distinguished by a pungent odor, which indicates fumes, which subsequently cause a wide range of diseases, including cancer.
Polystyrene, from which, for example, the inner walls of refrigerators are made, is brittle - it immediately cracks when dropped. Most plastic thermoses, between the walls of which is not vacuum, but air or insulation, will not keep the temperature of hot drinks even for 4 hours. In addition, the inner flask, made of plastic, begins to release carcinogens.
Frequent filling of such flasks with hot (over 70 degrees) drinks leads to warping of the inner walls of the container.
The best choice is thermoses with a glass flask or an internal stainless steel container. However, the younger the student, the more reason to entrust him with stainless steel, since the glass of fidgets is unlikely to last long. There is also a danger that, together with the liquid, a student can swallow a shard from a broken flask, which is fraught with the teenager getting into intensive care.
There is no need to save on the quality and safety of the thermos. A high-quality stainless steel product can serve a student for all his school years if he uses it carefully. The same applies to sports drinkers for runners or cyclists.
