Fabric with bright shiny sequins is very popular these days. Most often it is used in order to sew holiday clothes, but recently it has begun to be used for everyday wear.

A sequin fabric is a material with “scales” (this is exactly what sequins look like), which looks very bright thanks to a large number of sequins that shimmer in shine. They are plastic or metal, they can have different types, shapes and other parameters. Most often in stores there are variations from 4 to 7 mm.

Like any other material, fabric with bright sequins has many pros and cons.

Pros:

• the material has a very beautiful and catchy look, thanks to which you can attract the attention of others;
• the fabric looks very rich, suitable for any events;

Today, sequin fabric is almost at the peak of its popularity, and its history began long before the beginning of our era. The very first mentions of clothes with shiny decorations on it were found in ancient India, and a little later such a unique fabric came to conquer Europe. Her first variations were the decoration of the fabric with expensive precious stones, since there were no sequins at that time. Later, this kind of clothing became very fashionable, and for those ordinary people who could not afford luxurious fabric, embroidered with elements of gold or silver, they created much less expensive options from budget metal.

The heyday of popularity of clothing with sequins came at the beginning of the 20th century. Hollywood stars began to constantly appear in such catchy and creative clothes, which could shine amazingly beautifully under the directional beams of the spotlights. Today, the material with sequins is used to decorate everyday wear. Both representatives of the youth environment and older people like to wear such things.

Sequin fabrics may differ from each other in the following characteristics.

• Colors... Modern sequins have a stunning palette of colors to help you find the perfect fit. You can buy linen with black and white sequins, gold jewelry and items imitating silver or a chameleon, red, blue and any other varieties.
• The foundation... Most often, such decorative elements are sewn or glued to chiffon, tulle or knitwear.
• Fastening... Cheap sequins are simply glued to the fabric, for this reason they may fall off after a while. Expensive products are distinguished by the presence of a hole for sewing on, due to which such fabric is much more reliable to wear.
• Dimensions (edit)... The most popular are elements up to 7 mm in diameter, as they look neat, but you can also find fabric with larger sequins, which also look quite interesting. Large items can also be found today on formal wear.
• The form... Shiny jewelry can be round, in the form of squares or drops, star-like, curly (for example, in the form of a funny animal or a luxurious flower).

In addition to these characteristics, fabric with sequins can be either one-sided or double-sided. The latter has the ability to change color and shine with careful hand rubbing over it.

Due to its unusual appearance, this canvas immediately fell in love with modern stylists. This kind of material will help to emphasize the brightness of the image and add mood to your mistress. Quite often, sequins are used to decorate wedding dresses and evening dresses: they give a beautiful, almost fabulous shimmer.

Also, such fabric is used when sewing costumes for New Year's holidays, concert performances. On the street you can find everyday items of clothing with such an unusual decorative decoration: T-shirts and T-shirts, cardigans and skirts, dresses. The markings should be done with a thin thread of a contrasting color. The seam allowances are freed from the elements, but first you need to secure the remaining decorations well so that they do not fall out. It is better not to throw away the decorative elements removed from the fabric, they may still be useful to you.

Before you start working, you should clarify what kind of base the fabric you have chosen, and already according to these characteristics, choose the right needle. It is strictly forbidden to sew on sequins... This is necessary so as not to break the needle and spoil the decorative elements. If the sequins are glued to the fabric with high quality, then you need to gently push them apart and make lines between the rows.

Craftsmen consider sequin fabric to be very unpredictable, therefore they advise to leave a small piece of the product. Such fabric can only be processed from the inside out. High temperatures are not used for ironing, steam cannot be used. So that after processing the shiny elements do not lose their color, it is best to try to iron them on the left probe.

Sequin fabric can be called delicate, so caring for it will be difficult:

• it cannot be machine washed, especially if iridescent products have been glued to the fabric;
• can only be washed in cold water and preferably with baby powder;
• it is forbidden to use bleaches or conditioners;
• the maximum time the product is in water is 10-12 minutes;
• it is necessary to dry only on a horizontal surface, and so that the water does not drain, you can dry the thing with a thick terry towel;
• ironing things is best at low temperatures.
