Capitonium: what kind of fabric is it, its composition and properties

Despite individual tastes, each of us wants to look neat, clean and at the same time attractive, solid. The modern fabric market provides us with such an opportunity: the shelves in stores are full of fabrics of the most skillful sewing, patterns and colors. This article provides a description of capitonium - one of the most common, comfortable and practical types of fabric.

The word capitone, which came from the French language, which means the method of carriage coupling, has acquired many names and names in modern society. In addition to the classic and traditional "capitonium", you can often find such names as: capitonnie, capiton, capitonium. In fact, jersey of this type is a natural cotton fabric. The manufacturing technology of such a fabric consists in the formation of stitches on the fabric, invisible due to modern sewing technologies.

Many people value capitonium not so much for its pleasing to the eye appearance, but for its unique properties. It should be understood that these functions relate to a full-fledged canvas.

• The very first property is strength, and therefore durability. Thanks to a special sewing technology and a density of 220-300 g / m2, capitonium can withstand heavy loads, is well resistant to washing and has a flexible fiber structure that does not allow it to wrinkle.
• The second property, also important in its own way, is comfort. Unlike some natural materials, Capitonium has an inherently delicate, soft and pleasant structure.This version of knitwear is considered warmed, and therefore is often used for sewing fabrics that are used to make home clothes and things for small children.
• Resilience is the next plus. The special tailoring of this jersey not only protects the material from premature erasure, but also preserves the color of the fabric and its structure for a long time. The density of capitonium tailoring is such that the fabric does not shrink after washing and does not lose its positive properties.

• Versatility - a generalized plus for all natural fabrics. Capitonium has excellent breathability and excellent moisture absorption. That is why this material is often used in the sewing of towels, bathrobes, certain types of clothing for everyday life and sports.
• Easy to care for. The unique tailoring makes it very easy to take care of this type of knitwear: the fabric does not wrinkle, therefore, does not require frequent ironing. As for washing, the capitonium is not particularly picky and responds adequately to all standard washing modes.
• Manifold. Features of capitonium sewing allow you to embody any ideas of the authors. So, clothes made from this jersey are distinguished by a wide variety of patterns, colors and patterns. At the same time, the original density of the material is not lost due to reliable sewing technology. Due to the slightly matt color of the fabric, capitonium fabrics, even in different colors, are perfectly combined with each other.

However, even despite the fact that various synthetic fibers are now actively being introduced into this material, which make it more flexible and suitable for widespread use, the original capitonium also has one not entirely pleasant property - a complete lack of elasticity in the structure.

Almost all cotton knitted fabrics can be divided into three types. In short, the division is based on the composition of the fabric, quality and appearance (structure, weaving, pattern). Certain types of capitonium are widely known.

• Singing. The most expensive and at the same time the highest quality type of capitonium. It has several advantages at once: 100% cotton content, due to the high quality of the material, the latter does not wrinkle at all, has a smooth and even shiny surface and is "immune" to rapid pollution. The basis for the production of this type is long staple, high quality processed cotton.

• Carde (some also call this variety "rint"). Still high quality fabric, but not as expensive and with a clear synthetic fiber content in the backing of the fabric. The appearance of a carde hardly differs from a singing, but professionals immediately distinguish it due to its less smooth and shiny texture.
• O. E. (or OpenEnd) - the last and most common type due to its low cost. This is due to the composition (the main one is the remnants of raw materials from the production of more expensive species, as well as residual, short cotton fibers) and the appearance (the outer side is cotton material, the inner side is polyester fabric). It is easy to distinguish this fabric: there is no place for natural shine, the surface of the canvas will be pale, slightly dull. Often the surface of such a material is covered with multiple villi. Such fabric is still considered natural, but far from the most comfortable and durable.

Capitonium is also distinguished by density. A single-layer capitonium consists of two knitted fabrics with a thin layer of insulation between them. In this case, the material is invisibly held together with stitches that form the shape of squares or rhombuses. In the two-layer capitonium, one more layer of insulating material was added, as well as another layer of knitted material.

The song is 100% cotton. In this case, cotton fiber is used as insulation.

Karde is less radical and accepts up to 80% cotton, the rest of the material is made up of synthetic padding polyester or polyester fibers. The outer layers of the fabric in this kind of canvases are usually made natural, the intermediate level or layer of the interlayer is left to the share of polyester fibers.

The most common options for making the O. E. look are the following artificial and synthetic fibers: polyester, viscose, elastane (in rare cases, lycra is used). Due to this composition, the capitonium is sold at very tempting prices, however, in fact, the original composition of the canvas is lost in this case.

Surely many of you are first introduced to such a concept as capitonium. This is not surprising: now the market is so flexible and diverse that you don't pay much attention to the material or its composition - convenience and pleasant cost are much more important. But where is capitonium used today? You will be surprised, but you come across products from this jersey every day.

• Products for everyday life and leisure. This includes a wide variety of fabrics: sweaters, sweatshirts and hoodies, trowels, vests, dressing gowns, bedding in the form of pajamas, bedspreads and towels.
• The beautiful and shiny texture of capitonium made it an ideal material for sewing weekend items: beautiful skirts, pullovers, sweaters, even full dresses. The use of capitonium jersey in the manufacture of business-like clothing is not uncommon.
• Specialized clothing from capitonium - ideal for sports. As already mentioned above, capitonium perfectly absorbs moisture and allows air to pass through. With the content of the optimal amount of synthetic fibers in the base of the capitonium, it becomes elastic enough for use in active sports.

• Capitonium is ideal for tailoring exactly for children and newborns... Insulated, dense, hypoallergenic (due to natural fibers) fabric is used in the sewing of children's sweaters, T-shirts, pants, envelopes and overalls. If you intend to choose clothes just for such needs, we strongly advise you to familiarize yourself with the percentage of synthetics and cotton in clothing models. For children's skin, materials such as kardé and OE may be contraindicated.
• Capitonium jersey is often used as additional heating in garments for the cool season. Capitonium linings additionally protect outerwear from blowing and keep warm inside. In addition, these linings look nice and practical.
• Often this canvas is also used for upholstering household furniture: the material is wear-resistant, soft and perfectly retains heat. Usually rare sofas are upholstered with this fabric, sometimes wardrobes and armchairs.

Capitonium, like almost any jersey, does not need special care conditions, but a number of simple requirements are still worth observing.

1. Washing temperature. Cotton jersey is resistant to high temperatures, but the optimal value will be up to 40 degrees. The reason the capitonium is limited to this temperature is simple: the intermediate material or insulation may not handle high temperatures as adequately as cotton.
2. Both gentle machine wash and hand wash will do. The capitonium sewing technology provides for a heavy load, so you can be zealous.
3. Drying the fabric passes according to the standard scheme for all cotton knitwear: the fabric is straightened and placed horizontally, while it is advisable not to subject it to heat treatment with an iron.Usually, clothes made from such fabric dries quickly, and wrinkles do not form on its surface, even with strong wringing.

Do not forget that a high-quality capitonium is an expensive pleasure, however, given all the useful properties of this material, it is clear that the sums spent will pay off over time. Do not neglect careful checks when purchasing clothing and materials from the capitonium.

Remember:

• a capitonium with a high content of synthetics will last much less and will not be so convenient at all;
• Finding out the percentage of cotton and synthetics in this type of knitwear will help you determine the optimal modes for washing, as well as determine whether a particular piece of clothing or everyday life is right for you;
• Today, cheap capitonium fakes are not uncommon, so try to carefully check the material for all the signs indicated in the article above before buying.
