Suede paint comes in the form of a spray, liquid, or sponge soaked in dye.

The spray is made in a special metal container with a spraywhere the coloring agent is under pressure. Pressing a button sprays the substance over the suede. In the absence of certain skills, it is rather difficult to paint with such a tool, and there is a high risk of harming the shoe.

Liquid paint is sold in a plastic container and is applied to the suede surface with a special sponge. The color palette is quite wide, you can paint the product in blue, burgundy, purple, pink, green, yellow, red or any other tone. It is important to choose a shade that is as close as possible to the color of shoes or clothes, otherwise colored stains will remain on the suede.

You can use special sponges that are impregnated with paint. Often such a product acts as a restorer and is used for shoes in black, gray, brown, dark blue, white and beige. With this dye, you can mask dirt that does not wash off the suede. The product also protects shoes from the harmful effects of moisture.

The best brands are Salamander, Dividik and Colorstar. When buying a professional paint, you get the following benefits:

How to choose a product?

Pay attention to the form in which the paint is produced. The spray works well for dyeing boots, boots and shoes. The dye in the form of a cream or powder allows for a more thorough treatment of suede, it lasts longer on shoes. In addition, take into account the special properties of the paint, its ability to repel dirt and moisture.

Choose colorants from reputable manufacturers and pay attention to the cost. Quality material cannot be cheap. The color of the paint is of great importance, it must match the color of the shoes. Light shades are more transparent.

Be sure to consider the texture of the suede. Winter shoes and clothing have coarse pile, it is better to process them with cream paint. This product is applied to the suede surface with a sponge or brush. You can also use special foam products. Women's shoes and jackets are made of a thin and delicate material, so the best solution would be to use a spray.

Preparation of products for painting

It is quite difficult to properly dye suede at home. However, there are a few guidelines you can follow.

  • Be sure to clean your shoes or clothing before dyeing.
  • Stuff the shoes with paper to make it easier to paint over the surface. Such a measure will help not to spoil the inner surface of the shoe. Be sure to tape the sole, fasteners and heel with tape.
  • Choose a suede-type stain.
  • If there are places where paint has peeled off on shoes or clothes, treat them first. Wait until it dries and repeat over the entire surface of the shoe.

Preparation of a thing consists in cleaning it of dirt. First, use a suede brush to help get rid of the dust. If there is no such brush, then take a regular old toothbrush with a medium bristle bristle. Greasy stains can be removed with chalk, starch or talcum powder. Sprinkle a thin layer of powder on the place of contamination, leave for 2-3 hours, remove with a soft cloth.

On winter shoes, there are often white salt stains. To remove them, you must mix 1 glass of water, half a tablespoon of ammonia and 1 tablespoon of any liquid soap. Stir all components and clean in this way:

  • soak a clean sponge with the composition and squeeze thoroughly;
  • wipe the stained area;
  • wait 5 minutes for the composition to work;
  • wipe the surface with a piece of flannel.

If the item was very dirty, then it is worth finishing the cleaning with table vinegar. Dampen a clean sponge with the product and gently wipe off the suede. Wait until it dries completely and only then proceed to staining. It is important to properly remove dust, dirt and grease from the suede surface.
