What is tricotine and how to care for the fabric?
Tricotin fabric is a special type of textile fabric that has a certain external resemblance to the popular knitted composition. This fabric consists of threads of silk or wool intertwined in a complex pattern; it looks a bit like a knitted material. In order to improve the quality of the material, manufacturers today produce tricotin from popular synthetic fibers.
What it is?
The name "tricotine" comes from the French word trico. This term can be translated as "knitting". For this reason, such material in our country is often referred to simply as "French knitwear".
Tricotine is a very soft, quite pleasant to the touch material, which has a distinctive feature in the form of a beautiful oblique rib on the front side. At the same time, the seamy surface remains smooth.
At the heart of such a unique fabric is a double diagonal weave, which gives it a special effect and additional quality characteristics.
Advantages and disadvantages
In addition to the increased degree of strength, excellent elasticity and the property of excellently retaining its original shape, tricotin products also have the following advantages.
- Due to the characteristic features of the thread structure, this material will not lose its original color., since the dyes used will be practically "tightly" absorbed into the beautifully textured knitted surface.
- A huge number of types of fashionable French knitwear makes it possible to produce a wide variety of clothing options from this very popular fabric.: from stylish warm winter elements of women's wardrobe to the most sophisticated and comfortable underwear.
- French jersey is a truly versatile material, to which you can easily pick up the accessories and ensemble elements necessary for the bow from other types of materials (hats, scarves, straps).
- This kind of canvas will have excellent antistatic properties and therefore will not become electrified.... But this is with the exception of synthetic products. You will have to buy a good antistatic agent for them.
Additional pluses:
- unpretentious care;
- lightness and practicality;
- crease resistance;
- hygroscopicity;
- affordable price.
There are also disadvantages, consider them.
- The main disadvantage of French knitwear is its ability to fit the body of its owner as tightly as possible, as a result of which it will not be easy to hide certain figure flaws in such clothes. But if you initially choose loose-fitting clothes, then this drawback may not be taken into account at all.
- In addition, it must be taken into account that most of the garments made from French knitwear are often not very expensive and easy to wear.
It will be almost impossible to find chic and exclusive tricotine models in stores.
Views
Experts divide this fabric into 3 types:
- wool tricotin;
- silk French jersey;
- synthetic canvas.
Items made of high-quality silk fabric look very impressive and usually have a high price. The material will stretch perfectly, most often it is used for the production of women's clothing. Thin wool is chosen for sewing dresses, and lightweight coats for early autumn are made from thick woolen fabric.
The synthetic composition of the fabric is characterized by the presence of up to 6% elastane in it. The artificial canvas will be durable and will be able to stretch. The structure of the material is stable, has a visible shine, can withstand a large number of washings without losing either color or shape. A separate group includes tricotin-boucle. It is made from blended yarns with varying degrees of density.
In the textile industry, this kind of material can belong to one of 3 groups, which will differ only in the type of weaving of the base fibers.
- Ribana... One of the modern types of material, which contains rubber threads.
- Interlock... A uniform type of knitted fabric.
- Kashkorse... Such French knitwear can be called natural, since 95% of it contains cotton threads.
Application
The varied composition of high-quality French knitwear and the ability to choose the thickness of the fabric make it possible to use it for sewing such items as:
- stylish dresses;
- elegant skirts;
- original blouses;
- creative coats;
- luxurious trousers;
- bright sports uniform;
- various costumes;
- warm capes;
- quality curtains.
Tricotine will look quite impressive with inserts from other types of canvases, the main thing is not to forget to take into account the degree of relief of the selected material.
Any type of fabric with a smooth surface is perfect for such inserts. Tricotine is perfect for those ordinary people for whom comfort when wearing stylish clothes is very important and who like beautiful things if you just take care of them.
Care
A material such as tricotine does not require much attention to itself when leaving. Of course, the rules of fabric care will directly depend on its composition. But there are general rules for caring for tricotin.
- Tricotine can be machine washed without fear, but only with the most delicate cycle. The temperature regime should not exceed 40 degrees. The fabric can also be washed by hand, but without the use of aggressive detergents.
- It is best to gently wring out French knitwear by hand, since the centrifuge of the washing machine can seriously damage the structure of the fabric.
- To dry tricotin, it must be carefully laid out on a horizontal surface in a ventilated area.... With this type of drying, you can keep the appearance of the thing for a long time.
- Tricotine has a non-crease property, so it will almost never need to be ironed. But if suddenly you have such a need, the material can be lightly ironed with a slightly warm iron soleplate.
