Women's topsiders
Peculiarities
Topsiders are a type of shoe with grooved soles, always with a lace that is tied to a bow. The grooved outsole is flexible and non-slip. Wearing such shoes is comfortable and practical.
Boatmen have made the transition from yachting into everyday fashion. This shoe was part of the sailing outfit, which is why the grooved sole does not slip, and the material from which this deck shoe is made is specially processed and is good at repelling water. Very comfortable, lightweight and pleasant to wear shoes perfect today not only for yachting and a respectable lifestyle, but also for a hectic busy life in a metropolis.
Boatmen are believed to have been invented by Paul Sperry during a rainy walk with his dog. Mass production of tospiders was established in the 60s of the last century. Fame for this beautiful and practical type of footwear was brought by the Kennedy family's fossil of Sperry Top-Sider. But the peak of popularity came in the 80s. Boatmen were even listed in The Official Preppy Handbook, an encyclopedia of preppy style.
Initially, topsiders were only worn by men. But gradually this type of footwear migrated from the men's wardrobe to the women's. In the 90s, the mass audience lost interest in topsiders. Men under 40 stopped buying them. Then the manufacturers launched a new advertising campaign, which explained to buyers that topsiders are not only expensive and luxurious, but also convenient and practical. Special lines have been developed for young people and women. In the 2000s, women's topsiders quickly became fashionable.
In their appearance and characteristics, female topsiders are similar to male ones and, accordingly, have the same properties.
The most famous manufacturer of topsiders is Sperry Top-Sider. Every year the production of this company is being improved, its products never cease to amaze with their thoughtfulness and manufacturability. The most popular collection is called Authentic Original (A / O), traditionally sewn from leather, suede and canvas. The limited edition Gold Cup is crafted from hand-crafted leather and the lace holes are plated with real 18K gold.
Democratic and high-quality topsiders are produced by American companies Timberland and Tommy Hilfiger.
Boat shoes are like moccasins. They also do not have a heel, the sole is flexible, made of lightweight durable materials. The topsiders are distinguished by the obligatory lacing and the white grooved sole. The lace here performs not only a decorative function, but also reliably fixes the shoes on the foot. The white outsole was originally conceived in order not to leave marks on the deck.
If you go on a sailing trip, do not forget to wear boat boats. Their outsole has special grooves and indentations to prevent slipping on a wet deck. You will be comfortable, and the owner of the yacht and her crew will appreciate your concern for cleanliness and order.
Boat shoes are a good alternative to sneakers for those over 30. They match a more mature solid style, while being universally combined with sporty and urban styles.
Models
Classic topside colors are white, blue or brown. Initially, the shoes were only produced in these three colors. But today there are no restrictions - the assortment is great.
In the mid-2000s, Poul Smith invented his famous topsides in rich burgundy, green and brown colors, and thus introduced the fashion to come up with the most unusual colors. Even combined topsiders have appeared, but they tend to be in less demand. There are even printed canvas topsiders. And also along with the fashion for leopard print, leopard topsiders appeared.
Initially, topsiders were made only from leather. There are no material restrictions today. The production uses thin suede, nubuck, canvas, modern technological elastic materials, denim.
The top of the topsiders remains unchanged: a slightly tapered, rounded toe, lace around the entire perimeter and a conditional bow. But in all the designers are experimenting not only with colors, but with the sole and materials for it. They even began to vary the number of holes and eyelets for laces.
Classic topsiders have a solid sole. Later, a small monolithic heel began to appear in women's topsiders, then a low platform and even a wedge heel.
Women prefer classic models because they can be easily combined with feminine styles. Teenagers choose youth models with platform and wedge heels, which are conveniently combined with a sporty style.

Topsiders must wear without socks. Wearing topsiders with socks is bad manners.
